Naruto: Kakashi Hatake : dead or alive? [spoilers]

As most of us know, Kakashi has rencently fought Pein, qausi-leader of the evil highly powerful organization we all know as Akatsuki. Right now, Pein and Konan [ Pein's right hand woman ] are attacking the Hiddan Leaf Village in search of Naruto Uzamaki the container of the 9 tailed-beast. Sadly, Kakashi was defetated, but to what excent? As we saw last him he was exsausted from using lightning blade, sharigain, and makanygo sharigain using the last of his strenght to save Chouji so he could tell Tusnade Pein's weakness. Then we see Kakashi talking to his father [ who is dead ] and one of Tusnade's healing slugs on his shoulder. Kakashi Hatake : dead or alive? You decide.

He died for using up all his Chakra to stop all those nails. Using a very energy consuming technique = dead or almost dead..

It hasn't been officially confirmed that he's dead yet. A few chapters back, Choji asked Tsunade if he was still alive but she didn't answer.

I'm pretty sure he's alive.

He's a main character and his supposed death isn't the death of a main character.

So yeah, it's likely he's alive.

all tsunade's silence was was a plot device to raise tension. i hope he'll survive but i say he's got a 50/50 chance of surviving (or maybe less). the evidence is overwhelmingly ngative though...

I've always thought he was alive, and the fact that Kakashi's body was shown in spoilers to still be in the same spot even after Pain's attack confirmed this for me. Ifhe was dead, then it would be unnecessary to drag on the suspense like this. Plus, as it was said above, it wasn't a fitting end fight for such a main character. It would have to be a bit more epic than Kakashi getting his @ss handed to him.

actually i thought he was dead because naruto was saying that he can feel everybodys chakra except for kakashi's and this was in the manga when naruto was looking cool and stuff with his frog posse by his side. But dont get mad at me because i really hope that kakashi is alive and im even praying for it. it wont feel right if kakashi is gone because we've known kakashi since season 1 or whatever chapter number it is in the manga when he was first introduced.

Well, I think the topic header is a spoiler in itself. It implies that he's gotten in some trouble along the lines.

With so many lives on the line, it's hard to be sure. With Choji and Neji, it seemed as they both died, but came back. Still, with all the close calls Kakashi has had with his failing strength, it will be hard for this to come back from. Still, I don't think his character is complete - which is usually neccessary for one before death. Jiraiya had nothing more to give Naruto except for advice, so he could be phased out. Sasuke couldn't develop with his brother in existence, and so one was phased out.

This was my theory before:
At the end, it looked like Kakashi was ready to give up, to cross over to the next realm, so to speak. He said to himself that he was not able to protect Rin. That he broke his promise to Obito. Then he says: Obito....Rin,...Master....I'll be there soon. So does he joins them? No, he see he father, WhiteFang.
Now, why would Kishi just throw this in there??? Kakashi never really knew his father. So he is going to stop him NOW on the way to the their heaven for a little chat? I believe WhiteFang is there to keep Kakashi alive long enough till they can reach him. Kakashi has always felt guilty about not being able to kept his promise to Obito and help Rin. His father wants to show him that he has more to do and nothing to feel guilty about. And that should keep him just alive long enough for them to reach him when the time comes.
