They'll ban Naruto, IY, FMA, YYH, and DBZ:UC from being shown because they're too violent for kids.

They'll also ban the sexy jutsu, the Princess Snake episode in DBZ, and Ruka in YYH because it goes with what Hilary was saying about GTA:SA. Too sexual for little kids

Edit: WOW! I can't believe I just typed: Sexy Jutsu.

I don't think so. First they went out and tried to limit sexual contents on TV in the past because there were no rating system, and the first generation of rating systems weren't that successful. Now the rating system is more comprehensive, and easyer to understand because it's been there for a while.

Also, DBZ:UC, IY, and FMA are shown late at night. FMA is in the Adult Swim block which is clearly geared for young adults and adults. The politicians were trying to prevent kids from being exposed to sexual contents instead of young adults.

Naruto and YYH are in the same block but you don't ususally see YYH in the day time, and Naruto is not that violent anyway. The ratings will do the work, and if there is an outrange they'll just post a warning before it airs.

But parents sued the game companies because the ESRB apparently wasn't obvious enough to them. If an ESRB rating isn't obvious enough, I don't see how a TV rating is.

People sue people for anything and everything in the states. The question is: Did they win?

I think the problem with the ESRB isn't that it's hard to understand... it's that hardly anybody enforces them because there are no laws that say they have to.

Movies have rating systems and I believe it's completely voluntary but it's probably one of the only ones that is enforced.
All other mediums seem to have disclaimers, or ratings, or a board that determines if it's acceptable etc.

Take comics for example, they used to have the comics go through the Comic Code Authority (and some still do). Video games go through the ESRB. etc. But for all of these things, they aren't mandatory.

Technically the government should probably adopt a standards comittee and make laws to govern the sale/distribution of such items.
If a video game is rated Mature then nobody under 18 should be able to purchase it. If a comic book gets a rating of Mature then it shouldn't be sold to people under 18. If a television show gets a rating of mature (or whatever rating they have) then it shouldn't be on television before say 10pm and televisions should be able to recognise these ratings and then be able to block them.

It's a very simple thing to do, but nobody seems to want to do it.
    Go figure.
I'm all for freedoms but a rating system is a good way to educate as well as maintain standards. And nobody seems to have problems with the fact that movies get ratings (though sometimes they're upset with the ratings they get) so why would anybody be upset about other type scenarios?

Again, keep Jack Thompson and Hilary Clinton away from any and all anime. (well except Yu-Gi-Oh!)

Why did thye cut out the part when Naruto accidentally kissed Sasuke? That was purely for humor's sake. Also, we know he still did it. Also, since Naruto liked Sakura, we know that he obviously isn't gay.

In Outlaw Star, Fred Luo had half his dialogue cut because he very much was gay.

You live in a country where powerful forces are trying to get a religious nut into the Supreme Courty and you wonder why they're tryin to limit any sign of homosexuality on TV?

Anyway, Mr. 2 (I tink, the Okama) in One Piece was butchered as well. Anything gay becomes "weird" (guys turning girls, censored scenes, transvestites becoming karate champs).

Yeah, but still, people like the person who started this thread are the reason why they censor so much. They ruined the show somewhat by editing out so much of the original--it's not bad, but you have to admit, it lost some of its Japanese goodness. And then this kid comes in saying its pornographic? Get real, buddy, and go take sex-ed. This is probably nothing compared to what anime can turn into if left unchecked. Sigh...people like this is why it might have been better if Naruto wasn't Americanized. Cries of "homophobic this!" and "nudity that!" *sigh*....

again, they're not going to waste their time with this issue anymore. Their goal was to establish a system to rate the games rather than just leaving them unchecked. It's been rated and if ppl aren't getting it then their idiots.

Your problem will be the stupid annoying pricks who email the FCC 500 times and complain untill they fine shows for something stupid. Know that several of the recent FCC fines on explicit materials on TV have been done by 3 annoying parents who would rather complain and b*tch that the government isn't taking care of their kids rather than them doing it.

Those parents you mentioned are the reason that GTA got such negative publicity. Again, if you're some scummy, dumbass loser, would you really want to actually take responsibilty when $2 million is right under your nose?
