Episode Summary

When Naruto saves three guys, he is dragged into yet another mission. However, unlike the last two, this is one he does not wish to partake in. However, when Gai reveals information that the leader of the Kurosuki Family, Raiga, is connected with the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, Naruto decides to change his minds. Zabuza and Kisame were each a member, and since Raiga is connected to Kisame, who is connected to Itachi, who is being pursued by Sasuke, Naruto may have a chance to learn more information. With Neji, Lee, and Tenten as his allies, the group goes on their new mission, but what awaits them?moreless

  • Not a good way to open up an arc.

We are introduced to what this arc entails. Three guys run off from a city where those who are controlling it are killing people off for fun. In addition, we are introduced to a restaurant that Rock Lee really likes that makes really spicy curry. Other than that, nothing else happened in this episode. Okay? No action, the humour wasn't that good, and the slice of life moments were not great either. What is so good about this episode? Nothing really. The only redeeming factor is the hotbloodedness with Naruto and Rock Lee. Seeing Rock Lee work so hard is really inspiring to watch. Still though, mediocre episode.moreless
  • Another good show.

This begins a series highlighting Might Gai's team of genin (Rock Lee, Neji, and Tenten). Naruto has brought back three men that have escaped a mining village that a strong but insane ninja has taken over the village and is randomly killing people. It seems that he enjoys funerals, but instead of burying people when they are dead he buries them when they are still alive. Tsunade decides that Gai's team of genin should take this mission and says that Naruto should go along. The leader of the group that has taken over the mining village might have a connection to Sasuke though indirectly.moreless
  • Funny, yet creepy...

This episode was both funny and disturbing at the same time. OK, Tsunade's kinda ticked at everyone because Anko stole her dumplings and Guy is going balistic, so she throws a chair out the window. Or did she do that after she got mad at Naruto? I don't remember. Anyway, Naruto found some stragglers, so he takes them to the Leaf clinic to be nursed. Turns out, they came from a village being terrorized by the Kurosuke Clan, lead by the psychotic Raiga. So Tsunade recruits Neji, Tenten, Lee, and Naruto to go put a stop to things. Naruto doesn't want to, because he's still waiting for Jiraiya to come back so they can train. That is, until Lee informs him that Raiga is a member of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, along with Zabuza Momochi and Kisame Hoshigaki, who is Itachi Uchiha's partner in crime, who is Sasuke's older brother, who Naruto has been searching for. So that gets Naruto all fired up, and he agrees to go. They go along, until Lee makes them stop at an old lady's house. She apparently makes "life saving" curry, but everyone but Lee disagrees. Ugh, blah, blah, blah, people get buried alive, the end.moreless
  • I hope the next one is better.

As I have stated, I hope the next episode is better than this one. This wasn't really good, the humor was ok, nothing too much. No action. The funny part(s) is when Tsunade gets angry at them and everything when she's assigning the mission. I felt sorry for Tenten, cuz she was the only one with the level head at that moment. Also, when that boy in the flashback was making curry for Lee you see him put a turtle in the soup. Ew. So, the informative part of this episode is that Lee has weird taste buds. Or whatever. I hope the next episode has like a ton of fighting and stuff.moreless
  • Filler episode. Just some toxic curry.

Their is some crazed shinobi thats making funerals. So far we have heard of three of the seven shinobi. And those three are very skilled. Looks like trouble is up ahead.

It was weird that the women put live things in the soup. Crabs and turtles. ewwww.

And the expression on Naruto and Neji's face after taking a bite was funny. Other wise this was a filler episode.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • Lee: This is The Curry of Life. Now, Grandma Sanshou went through the trouble of making us this curry, so let us dig in! I cannot wait! (Lee take a bite and his face turns red) Delicious! (Scarfs down the whole plate) This is delectable! A myriad of flavors, the spices are blended to perfection! Plus whatever these little artichoke hearts are, they are amazing!

    • (Izuma and Kotetsu are hauling up the chair that Tsunade threw out the window)
Izuma: It could have been worse, at least it wasn't her desk.
(Kotetsu has a bloody knot on his head from the chair)
Kotetsu: You're hilarious, you know that?

    • Lee: Naruto! Uh... Sorry, am I intruding?
Naruto: (Mad) Well, what does it look like?
Lee: (Talking to himself) No, Lee. You must hold fast, you must not turn away. In our youth we must seize the moment! (Turns his attention back to Sakura and Naruto) Hey, Sakura. How are you today?
      Sakura: (Giggles) I'm great, Lee.
Naruto What do you want already?
Lee: A word with you, actually!

    • Naruto: Still no sign of Pervy Sage and now I'm stuck with some lame old mission. Man, this bites!

    • Tsunade: Once these men have regained their strength, your objective is to escort them back to the Katabame mine and take out this Kurosuki family. Simple mission really. They're probably just a pack of money grubbing hoodlums.
Naruto: So what am I doing here? It sounds like a chimp could do this mission.
Tsunade: Who the heck do you think you are?!
Naruto: Come on Grandma, I've got enough on my plate with training and looking for Sasuke...(Tsunade grabs him by the collar) Gah!
Tsunade: You think you get to call the shots around here, pipsqueak?! You're a Genin and you'll take whatever mission I give you or I'll send you back to the academy so fast, your head'll spin!

    • Naruto: Here I am! So, we're all here. Let's hit the road everybody.
      Neji: That's not your call.
Naruto: Let's do it. Hey, ha...which way is it?

    • Tsunade: Neji Hyuga!
      Neji: Yes!
Tsunade: You're team leader. It will be good training for you trying to tame the untamable.
Neji: I'd rather not, but I'll give it a go.

    • Ranmaru: One... Two... Three. Another three have gotten away.
Raiga: One more funeral to look forward to.

    • Naruto: Let's go! (Pauses) So, which way is it?

    • Tsunade: Mission to escort Chichiatsu-sama, the Swamp Country's feudal lord, completed. Good work
(Tsunade reaches for a set of dumplings on a stick, but Anko grabs it first)
      Shizune: Those are Tsunade-sama's!
Anko: Konoha has the best dango.
Tsunade: Those were the last ones!

      ~Japanese version

    • Gai: Mission complete! I defeated those bandits with my fists of love! They accepted the influence of justice and I wept!

      ~Japanese version

    • Naruto: Why'd you call me for such an easy mission?
Tsunade: Who the hell do you think you are?
Naruto: I'm busy with searching for Sasuke and training!
Tsunade: A low-standing Genin who butts into missions he wasn't called for doesn't get to pick his missions! Do you want to be sent back to the Academy?! Huh?!

      ~Japanese version

    • (Lee interupts Naruto and Sakura's conversation)
Lee: I'm sorry. Am I interupting something?
      Naruto: Big time!
Lee: No no! I can't turn the other way! That is forbidden in the Springtime of Youth! Sakura, good afternoon.
      Sakura: (Laughs) Good afternoon, Lee.
Naruto: So, what did you come here for?
Lee: I need to talk to you about something. (Runs down the stairs with Naruto, waves to Sakura) Sakura, goodbye!
