Since Naruto is having little to no success at summoning frogs, Jiraiya figures that if Naruto's to learn how summon Kyubi's chakra, he's going to need to be put into a life-threating situation. After having Naruto do a bunch of tasks, he throws Naruto off a cliff. Naruto's only hope of survival lies within an encounter with the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox himself. But, will Kyubi be willing to help him?moreless
  • In order to speed up Naruto's training, he has to put his life on the line.

Naruto remains to be unsuccessful in his training. Jiraiya is getting impatient and makes Naruto do some odd things. First he tells him to eat his favourite food. Next he tells him to hug the person he likes, which happens to be Sakura. After getting slapped in the face, Naruto comes back, and gets knocked out by Jiraiya. When he wakes up, Jiraiya pushes him off the waterfall, focing him to awaken his red chakra. With an encounter with the nine tails fox, the two reached an agreement and Naruto finally summons a frog.

A surprising episode in many ways, I didn't really know where Jiraiya was going when he told him to do all of those tasks, and forcing him to make a decision that concerns his life was pretty unexpected. Though what I thought was truly the heart of the episode was the little classroom session with Iruka, the Hokage, and the little tykes. It reminded me of a time when my elementary principal gave a similar speech that was really inspiring and kind of touching; this really captured that feeling closely.moreless
  • Naruto must use the Nine Tail Fox chakra to survive.

    "Perfect"
Jiraiya is trying to get Naruto to use the chakra from the Nine Tail Fox demon, Kyubi, that is sealed in his body. Naruto can only summon a small toad so far. Jiraiya asks Naruto if he would like to eat a meal. Naruto says yes, of course. They go to the ramen shop where Naruto puts down bowl after bowl. When it comes time to pay the bill, Jiraiya is nowhere to be found and Naruto has to pay. Naruto is mad with Jiraiya when he finds him and Jiraiya settles him down. Jiraiya then asks Naruto if he has a girlfriend....moreless
  • Really cool

Jiraiya felt that Naruto's training was taking too long so he made Naruto use all his chakra and pushed him into a cliff. I did think it was something understandable to do to make Naruto summon a toad. I don't argue with Jiraiya, he did well in pushing Naruto because Naruto did accomplish the in doing the training. Naruto did summon a toad, Gamabunta, a very powerful toad. The problem is that maybe Gamabunta doesn't want to serve Naruto. I understand Gamabunta's ways. Overall, this episode went very good. Finally Naruto is able to summon a toad and get some Demon Fox Chakra.moreless

  • summoning jutsu!

    "Superb"
with naruto making little to no progress with the summoning jutsu, jiraiya decides to use extreme methods. he takes naruto for a stroll through the village letting him do whatever he wants. he went to the hot springs, ate a ton of ramen(which he had to pay for himself, being the pervy sage is cheap), then tried to hug sakura which ended in a beating. jiraiya then knocks him out and takes him to a cliff. he then pushes him off, hoping he can tap into the nine-tails chakra. naruto goes into his own subconcious and demands the kyubi for chakra. he agrees out of amusement and to make sure naruto lives so he lives. naruto then summons a giant toad.moreless
