Season 7 Episode 15

Mix It, Stretch It, Boil It Up! Burn, Copper Pot, Burn!

Aired Thursday 7:30 PM May 24, 2008 on TV Tokyo

  • Trivia

    • Choji's hair seems noticeably shorter in the scene where they are tasting the new ramen recipe.

    • When Naruto does the Shadow Clone Jutsu for the second time, when he serves everyone at the same time, instead of the clones disappearing in white smoke, they disappear like holograms.

    • During the last part of the episode when Sakura, Naruto, and Chouji are going by Ichiraku's, there is a few familiar girls in line: Kurenai, Anko, Hinata, Ino, Tenten, and Temari. Isn't Temari supposed to be back in the Hidden Sand Village? ;)

  • Quotes

    • Naruto: I can't imagine Ichiraku without Ayame there. It'd just feel empty. That settles it! We're going to help you win this challenge, Teuchi. We'll give those guys the best ramen ever.
Choji: Because that's the way we're going to get Ayame back.
      Sakura: Yeah, let's do it!
      Teuchi: You guys...

    • Teuchi: A chef's thrown down the culinary gauntlet, I have to answer the call.

    • Teuchi: Goodness, you boys sure went through a lot of trouble to get my ramen. Sorry about braining you like that.
Naruto: It's cool that you want to add new stuff to the menu and all, but next time, do it after you've closed for the night.

    • Choji: Hey, that smells like ramen.
Naruto: Huh? (Sniffs the air) Yeah, you're right.
Choji: No doubt about it, there's definitely ramen afoot somewhere in that restaurant.

    • Naruto: I haven't chowed down on Ichiraku Ramen in like forever. Thanks to all these missions, I haven't been home much.
Choji: (Laughs) Yeah, a bowl of ramen after a mission is the best. Spreading its noodlily goodness throughout your body, revving you up.
Naruto: No kidding! Feed me some ramen and I'm ready to go!

    • Naruto: I think there is such a thing as being too thin.

    • Naruto: Hey, Sakura, tell me...
      Sakura: Huh?
Naruto: The last time I checked, the three of us were shinobi, right? I'm thinking we should show them how to do those noodles ninja style!

    • Choji: Experience is cool and all, but real cooking know-how comes straight from the heart.

    • Ayame: Did I fatten up that much?

      ~Japanese version

    • Naruto: We're ninjas, right? Then let's make the noodles ninja style! Kage Bunshin no Jutsu! Rasengan! Ichiraku version!

      ~Japanese version

    • (Naruto makes a noodle image of Kakashi)
Naruto: Hey, Sakura, look! It's Kakashi-sensei!

      ~Japanese version

  • Notes

    • YTV Airdate: January 17, 2009

    • Hakaku: I came here to ask a favor of you.
Teuchi: Go ahead. If it's anything within my power, it's as good as done.
Hakaku: This wondrous phantom recipe that you're said to have developed, I must possess it.
Teuchi: My phantom recipe you called it? I'm sorry, but you've lost me.
Hakaku: Recipes are more important than life itself for ninja chefs. You're feigning ignorance is understandable, but please, give it to me. I beg of you!

    • Choji: The party's over guys, the noodles are outclassed by the soup! The soup is rich and full of flavor, well heeled, with this you've taken Ichiraku's Ramen to the next level. However, the noodles are the same, the usual, and you know they're never going to see eye to eye. I cannot give it a passing score.
Teuchi: I was afraid you'd say that.

    • The women lined up for the diet ramen are: Ino, Hinata, Tenten, Temari, Kurenai, Anko, and Sasame.

    • Danielle Judovits does not reprise her role of Ayame in this episode. Instead, Laura Bailey voices her here. This was because Danielle Judovits wasn't available at the time.

    • Original Episode Title: Burn Zundou! Mix, Stretch, Boil!
Romaji Episode Title: Moero Zundou! Mazete nobashite yude agero!
      Kanji Episode Title: 燃えろ寸胴!混ぜて伸ばして茹で上げろ!

    • Original Airdate: January 18, 2006

    • At the end of the episode, Sasame from the Fuuma clan is seen standing in the line for diet ramen.

    • Sakura is starting to show the insane strength that Tsunade has, which is kind of a spoiler from the manga.

    • New footage is added to the opening theme song beginning with this episode. The song itself still remains the same.

  • Allusions

    • The contest where Mr. Ichiraku must prepare a ramen dish that is delicious and unique is somewhat similar to a cooking show called Iron Chef that originated in Japan.
