Shikamaru: (Grabs a rolled paper dropped by a large bird) What? This looks like...
Choji: Is that Shikamaru's house?
Naruto: That's a blueprint?
Shikamaru: Yep. For security reasons, they were drawn up using a complex code that's really tough to break. (Thinking) But still, why are the plans Gennou stole falling out of the sky?
Ino: My family owns a flower shop and I've been serving people there since I was little. When I see someone's hand, I can tell what kind of work they do. Carpenter's hands are much rougher than this with scrapes and cuts and a trap ninja's hand would never be that squeaky clean.
Sakura: And what does that mean?
Hinata: May I take a look? Byakugan! I thought so, there's no trace of a developed chakra network. This man has never infused his chakra.
Sakura: Huh?
Hinata: And I even heard the medics talking outside. Even they have doubts about his identity.
Tenten: What if a ring of bombs were set off on the surrounding trees were set off first then the huge explosion in the center. If he timed the explosions close enough to each other, then it might have seemed like one blast.
Lee: This is a good point.
Neji: But in order to do that, he would have needed time to set it up. Before he made it here, Gennou was being chased by the ANBU and they had him cornered right when the bombs went off.
Shino: Maybe they chased him or maybe he was leading them here.
Naruto: Ugh, this hurts my brain. Remind me why we have to look through all these stupid books again?
Shikamaru: Believe me, I don't want to do it either, but research is the basis of good investigation.
Teuchi: Naruto. Hey, Naruto.
Naruto: Huh?
Teuchi: You keep standing there like a zombie, you're going to scare off my customers.
Naruto: Oh... Uh... Sorry.
Tsunade: We've already mobilized most of our ninja. They're already on their way to the Waterfall Village now. I told them if they see anyone crossing the border to treat it as a full scale invasion. Shikamaru, take your group and head over to the border to assist.
Shikamaru: (Sighs) Well, if you really want my honest opinion, there's no reason for us to go.
Shizune: But-but, Shikamaru...
Tsunade: What are you getting at?
Medical Ninja: This way please.
Ino: What are they doing to him?
Medical Ninja: We are examining every inch of him.
Ino: Do they really have to do that?
Medical Ninja: He was in very bad shape. From what I understand, he had paper bombs from head to toe. Ms., would you like to wait outside until we're done.
Ino: Yes, I think I would.
Sakura: I'll stay, thank you.
Ino: You will? (Goes outside the exam room) You're stronger than I am, Sakura.
Kiba: Looks like he must have used an odor neutralizing element in last night's smoke screen. That guy came prepared.
Shino: Then why did he get caught?
Kiba: Huh? I guess the ANBU were just too intelligent for him.
Shino: Of course they're intelligent, but he must have foreseen that going in. So then, why didn't he have another escape route planned out in advance?
Kiba: You know, you're right. It doesn't make any sense, but there's really no way to find out now.
Shino: Dead men tell no tales.
(Naruto and Gennou meet at Ichiraku's Ramen Shop)
Naruto: Thanks for the grub.
Gennou: You finished your bowl already?
Naruto: Well I am a growing boy, you know. Even an extra large can't fill me up.
Naruto: Listen, I already told you everything I know about the guy.
ANBU #1: So you first met Gennou at the ramen shop.
ANBU #2: What did the two of you discuss?
Naruto: You expect me to remember everything?
ANBU #1: That's what we're here for, yes.
Tsunade: I want your group to keep investigating Gennou.
Shikamaru: Understood.

Shizune: You have been summoned by Tsunade-sama.
Shikamaru: The Fifth?
~Japanese version
Lee: So, being a carpenter was just a camouflage for infiltration after all?
Shikamaru: It's too early to come to any conclusions.
~Japanese version
Ino: You're amazing, Sakura.
~Japanese version
Kiba: Dead men tell no tales, huh?
~Japanese version
Kiba: Seem's like yesterday's smokescreen also had a scent removing ingredient. These guys are very careful.
Shino: Then, why have we been gaining on them?

(In a flashback)
Naruto: I'm still in my growing stage, so even a large serving isn't enough.
Gennou: I see, well then, I'll share the rest of my ramen with you.
Naruto: A-Are you sure?
Gennou: Yeah.
Naruto: Lucky!
~Japanese version
(In a flashback)
Gennou: This certainly is delicious.
Naruto: See?
~Japanese version
(In a flashback)
Gennou: Is it good?
Naruto: Gramps, you're not from here, are you?
~Japanese version
Shikamaru: The Hidden Waterfall Village?
Tsunade: I've heard they are all undergoing preparations.
~Japanese version
Naruto: I already told you everything I know.
ANBU on Left Side: You met Gennou for the first time at Ichiruka. What did you talk about at the time?
Naruto: I don't remember all the details!
ANBU on Right Side: That is what we want to know. If we analyze the conversation, we may be able to figure out who hired him.
~Japanese version
Naruto: All these numbers make my head hurt...
Shikamaru: Yeah, I think it's troublesome too.

In the Naruto OVA 2: Jump Festa 2004, Battle at Hidden Falls: I am the Hero!, the Village of Hidden Falls was an ally and Team 7 helped their leader, Shibuki, who can be seen from behind during one of the scenes.
Ino reveals that the corpse recovered was not Gennou's by the state of his hands. She says that because of working at a flower shop for years she learned to tell a persons job by the state of their hands. The corpses hands were much too smooth to be those of a carpenter.
Hinata reveals that the corpse laying on the table is not that of a shinobi. The person had never manipulated chakra before they were dead.
Gennou was so nice to Naruto because Naruto looked almost exactly like his grandson.
Tenten discovered that Gennou had previously set explosion tags on trees around the vicinity as a diversion to escape the ANBU. Meaning he already planned how they would react.
A giant bird flew over the city of Konoha and dropped the blueprints, which Gennou had stolen.
One of the ANBU ninjas used "Time Reversal Technique", which is some form of hypnosis, so that Naruto would remember the conversations he had with Gennou.
Shino: Dead men tell no tales.
This proverb has been traced back to Thomas Becon (c. 1560). It was first attested in the United States in 'Porcupine's Works' (1797). It's most famously known for its use in the Pirates of the Carribean attraction in Disneyland.
