Episode Recap

The episode begins with Naruto continuing his pursuit of Sasuke.

Elsewhere, Lee, who has seen better days and looks a bit too tipsy to do anything, charges at Kimimaro, who could only stare. For the most part, Lee has gotten a lot faster, yet he faints while giving some drunken speech. Kimimaro cautiously approaches and prepares to finish Lee off, only for Lee to wake up, shouting "You fell for it!" as he lands a few hits on Kimimaro. Turns out that Lee feigning sleep is "what you call a shinobi's plan."

Then...Lee goes down yet again, but is up just as quickly, warning Kimimaro not to underestimate him. Lee then stumbles back and falls asleep...again. Upon inspecting the discarded sake bottle, Kimimaro prepares to finish Lee off for good.

Meanwhile, Kage Kubi Shibari no Jutsu (Shadow Neck Bind Jutsu) is still not doing any good as Shikamaru continues his bout with Tayuya. The shadow hand begins retracting from Tayuya's neck as she begins to overpower him. At the same time, Kiba emerges from the water in trying to escape Sakon and Ukon, but the wound in his side where he stabbed himself isn't helping.

Lee is just inches away from death as Kimimaro strikes once...and Lee dodges...again and again and again to the point where he is able to catch Kimimaro's weapon with his feet. He's up on his feet and amazingly dodges every one of Kimimaro's attacks, then delivers his own of punishment on Kimimaro.

Back in Konoha, Gai tells Tsunade that kenpou (Chinese martial arts is a where the drunker one gets, the stronger they become. There's the flashback sequence of Team Gai at the restaurant that drunk Lee is destroying, until he's restrained by Gai and Neji. Tsunade questions why Gai didn't just stop him himself, but of course, Lee is Gai's "adorable student," so of course he couldn't do a thing. If Lee were to drink an entire bottle of sake, his strength would be inconceivable, yet his body is still healing from his injuries, so just how long can he hold out?

Lee charges forward and attacks...and trips, only to get back up again and attack wildly. His attacks become too unpredictable for Kimimaro, who even has to dodge Lee's feet while he walks forward with his hands. Kimimaro uses Tsubaki no Mai (Dance of the Camellia), unleashing a furry of attacks that Lee easily dodges until Lee delivers a powerful punch to Kimimaro.

...Elsewhere, three shadowed shinobi are making their way through the forests. Their destination and reasons are unknown.

Bones begin popping out of Kimimaro's left arm and activates his curse seal. He plans to knock Lee out of his drunken stupor (to which Lee replies that he's underage and can't drink) and does so when Lee prepares to attack when more bones protrude from Kimimaro's chest. Bones coming from his body, this is Kimimaro's kekkai genkai (Bloodline limit, like the Sharingan or Byakugan).

Shikamaru isn't faring any better and Sakon finally arrives at the point where Kiba was previously. Kiba picks up his scent as the three shadowed shinobi from earlier split in three different directions.

Lee finally comes to his senses and is out of his drunken rampage. Kimimaro explains that his kekkai genkai is manipulating the cellular structure of his bones. They can be created by controlling how his body uses calcium, and as such, he is not limited to two hundred bones in his body. Lee explodes forward as Kimimaro uses Karamatsu no Mai (Dance of the Pines), spinning around and piercing Lee many times with the bones. Lee is down for the count.

Shikamaru's situation only worsens as time progresses. He thinks back to when Asuma helped him awhile ago during the attack on Konoha, but clearly, Asuma won't be around to help him this time.

Sakon gets closer and closer to the point where Kiba knows his end is near...until the scent disappears. Kiba is relieved that he is safe, only to realize that Ukon is right there before him, wearing Kiba's jacket, which would explain how Kiba spent so much time trying to pick up Ukon's scent that he never noticed his own. Ukon arms himself with a kunai.

Lee rises to his feet, ready to fight again despite his injuries. Nonetheless, he can still open the first gate. He wraps Kimimaro in his bandages and prepares to use Omote Renge (Initial Lotus), when Kimimaro's bones block the kick.

-Shikamaru's in a jam and can't think of any ideas no matter what. The shadow hand regresses completely.

-Ukon wonders why Kiba won't cry for help.

Things are not looking good for the Konoha shinobi right about now.

Tayuya, Ukon, and Kimimaro all prepare to make their final strikes as Shikamaru, Kiba, and Lee prepare for the worst when...all of a sudden.....

-Tayuya is blown back by an extremely powerful gust of wind.

-Instead of stabbing Kiba, Ukon's kunai connects with a puppet instead.

-The final bone that is about to strike Lee is blocked by sand that blows him backwards.

Kiba smiles at the situation: "Looks like you're our allies this time."

The three shinobi introduce themselves.

"Konoha doumeikoku...." (Konoha's allies)

"Suna no..." (The sand)

"Shinobi!" (shinobi)

Could it be? After their part in the attack on Konoha, the trio of Temari, Kankuro, and Gaara arrive on the scene, ready for battle.
