After the explosion of light, Lady Kaio's carriage falls to the ground. When the parts are seen falling you can see the roof is in many pieces, but when the carriage is seen on the ground, the roof is still intact.
When the creature disappears, after the contract is destroyed, the base of the castle is not there. But when Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata are talking about Kouza wanting the creature to be released, they are standing by the base of it.
Before Naruto moves, the man in the painting is near the edge of the boarded up window. But when Naruto moves, it moves over towards the middle of it.
When Naruto moved and the eyes of the painting followed him, the eyes were looking to the left. But when Naruto, Kiba, and Hinata are shown, Naruto is standing directly in front of the picture.
When Naruto, Hinata, and Kiba enter the castle there is only one light on and it is on the left side. When they set their stuff down on the right side the lights are on inside the room on that side. When they enter the room Akamaru ran in the lights on the other side are off again.
Kiba: He must have died resenting those who'd seized his castle.
Hinata: But he also lead us to where the scroll was hidden.
Naruto: You figure he finally decided to let go of his grudge?
Kiba: Seems that way. Or heck, could be he thought fifty years was long enough to keep that summoned animal in his service. Maybe he just wanted to let the poor old beast to return home.
Naruto: Think so? Then maybe he needed help releasing that creature from its imprisonment, freeing it.
Hinata: And now it's finally home.
Naruto: What do we do? How are we going to get out of this guy's stomach?
Hinata: I don't know.
Kiba: If this creature was summoned, there'll be a contract somewhere. Tear up the scroll and this thing goes back to where it came from.
Naruto: I don't get it. Why would he tell his pet castle to eat us like some sort of snack? What did we ever do to him?
Hinata: I don't know.
Naruto: I've actually seen something like this before inside the stomach of a giant toad that Pervy Sage summoned.
Kiba: Inside its stomach? So wait, does that mean that this smell is stomach acid?
Hinata: Hey, this table is set for seven people.
Naruto: What's so special about that?
Hinata: Well, the party that went missing from the Land of Honey had seven people in it, which mean the lady and her attendants could be somewhere in this castle. Why don't we split up and look for them?
Naruto: Huh? What do you want to split up for? No reason to split up a perfectly good team. Right, guys? All for one and one for all.
Kiba: Oh, give it a rest, Naruto. Quit acting like such a baby. Try to focus on the mission here.
Naruto: All right. You don't have to be such a bully about it. I know, okay.
Hinata: What's the matter?
Kiba: Come on, don't startle us like that.
Naruto: Yeah, b-but that painting's eyes just moved!
Kiba: You idiot, paintings don't move. Stop being such a wuss, will ya.
Hinata: It's magnificent.
Naruto: Wouldn't it be sorta rude to go barging in all of a sudden? I mean, it's a little late for company right now.
Kiba: Come on, don't tell me you really are scared?
Naruto: Why would you think that? Don't be silly.
Hinata: A castle.
Kiba: That's funny, I've never heard of one around here.
Hinata: I'm getting a bad feeling.
Naruto: That's what I'm saying, this is the creepiest mission ever!
Kiba: Maybe we should check it out. I bet we find some clues here.
Hinata: Let's go have a look.
Kiba: Okay, we're getting soaked out here anyway.
Naruto: What's the hurry? It's just a little rain!
Kiba: Hey, this is it.
Naruto: Kubisaki Pass, huh. I don't know why, but this place gives me the creeps.
Tsunade: (Referring to Naruto) Every day it's the same thing with that kid.
Kiba: Just tell us where we're going and we'll take off.
Tsunade: Kubisaki Pass.
Naruto: K-Kubisaki Pass?! Doesn't that mean "broken neck"?! I knew this was going to be trouble!
Tsunade: (Loses temper) Idiot! A ninja doesn't get scared by things that go bump in the night! Now get out of my office!
Naruto: (Runs out) I'll take my chances with the ghost!
Naruto: There isn't anything weird about this mission is it?
Tsunade: Weird like how?
Naruto: Well... Um... You know... Like...um...ghosts maybe?
Tsunade: Are you kidding? You're not telling me you're scared of spirits are you?
Naruto: Oh... Well... Maybe a little.
Tsunade: Ghouls and ghosts are just a bunch of hooey. Get going already and stop wasting my time!
Kiba: Okay, so what's the story? You want us to track her down?
Tsunade: That is correct. Your nose and Hinata's eyes make you perfect for the mission, and Naruto was...well...available.
Naruto: What's that supposed to mean, Grandma? Are you saying I don't bring anything to the table?
Tsunade: That's accurate, isn't it?
Kiba: (About a painting) What's that?
Naruto: One scary-looking fella.
Tsunade: Shinobi don't whine about such stupid things! Hurry up and go!
Naruto: This is more scary than ghosts!
Kiba: I'm off!
Hinata: E-Excuse me! (Closes the door)
Tsunade: Has Naruto's cowardice spread to you, Shizune?
Hinata: A castle?
Kiba: I didn't hear anything about a castle around here...
Hinata: It kinda gives off a bad aura...
Naruto: See? See? This is starting to become a really weird mission!
Hinata: Naruto...I think that you have good points in you Naruto.
Naruto: Oh? Just as I would expect from you Hinata! Now tell those points to Granny Tsunade! (Pauses) Hey, hey, what are my good points?
Hinata: Uh, um... (Blushes) So...
Naruto: (Angrily) Don't wonder about it!
Tsunade: Naruto aside, Hinata's Byakugan, combined with Kiba and Akamaru's sense of smell, is just perfect for this mission.
Naruto: What's the deal, Granny? Are you saying that I don't have any merits?
Tsunade: Isn't that true?

The Red Bean Paste Country is known as the Land of Candy in the dub. This may be because "Red Bean Paste" is "An" in Japanese, and candy is the only word that could fit in the translation (Red Bean Paste is a type of candy).
The way the castle walls look and devour victims is oddly similar to the stomach of Jiraiya's mountain toad. Naruto even comments on this.
This is the final episode to use a title card.
Original Episode Title: Grotesque, The Cursed Ghost Castle
Romaji Episode Title: Kaiki, Norowareta Yureishiro
Kanji Episode Title: 怪奇 呪われた幽霊城

Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto's name appears in the contract of Shiromari.
The amount of meals on the table and the amount of people missing are the same.
Naruto had to use his Rasengan to help them escape from the summon before they dissappeared with it to.
In order to release the summon, Naruto had to destroy the contract that held it there.
First time Rasengan flies out of Naruto's hand.
In this episode, we see Hinata a little more confident when she's in front of Naruto.
The castle is really a summon. The summon's true form is a chameleon named Shiromari.
In the English dubbed version, when Naruto trips over one of the dead samurai, he yells out "Zoinks!". This is a familiar yell of Shaggy, from the Scooby-Doo cartoon series that deals with many supernatural mysteries. The episode itself is very similar to the series in many aspects.
While probably not planned, this episode premieres at the same time with the animated movie Monster House which also features two guys and a girl journeying into a house that eats those who enter it. Overall, the episode bares resemblance to a whole range of "living house" horror/thriller movies.
