Naruto: Okay, this area is all clear. Let's keep going, c'mon! (Hinata faints on a wall) Huh? Hinata! What's wrong?
Hinata: It's hard using my Byakugan for so long. I'm just a little tired. That's all.
Naruto: Really, you're okay? Lemme see. (Feels Hinata's forehead, causing her head to blush) You feel feverish, and your all red.
Hinata: (Backs away from Naruto and face turns back to normal) I'm okay. I'll be fine if I just rest for a minute.
Naruto: You sure? Okay, just take it easy. You wait here and I'll deliver the ones we found to Grandma Tsunade. (Runs off and waves to her) Don't you go anywhere I'll be right back!
Gennou: A real shinobi anticipates his enemy; he is always thinking two or three moves ahead. Remember that.
Naruto: You serious? You'd destroy this whole village just so everyone will know what you did thirty years ago? And I thought you were just a friendly old man. So the only reason you bought me that ramen was...
Gennou: To get information about how things stood in the Leaf Village.
Naruto: Darn it! You lying jerk!
Gennou: You'll understand when you've lived as long as I have.
Naruto: Never! I'll never understand no matter how long I live, and I'm going to live really long.
Naruto: But it doesn't make any sense. Why now? Why come back to the Leaf Village after all this time? Is it just to fulfill your stupid old mission? For what? According to you, your village doesn't exist anymore, so what's the point in destroying ours too? Or is it... Someone has given you a new mission to destroy the Leaf?
Gennou: Oh no, rest easy. I'm not here because anyone sent me here.
Naruto: Then why have you come?
Gennou: Well, you see, it just seemed like such a waste.
Naruto: A waste? What are you talking about?
Gennou: I've grown old. Each day I'm alive could be my last. I thought what a shame it would be for me to pass into darkness without anyone ever knowing what I've done.
Ino: But, what could it all mean?
Tsunade: Putting all the facts together... The antique paper bombs, their location, and the fact they were hidden without us being aware... It could only mean... This trap was set thirty years ago!
Shizune: Well, we'll be able to find those bombs in no time once Guy-sensei and the others get back from that wild goose chase we sent them on.
Shikamaru: Yeah, I only wish it was as simple as that.
Tsunade: Shikamaru, what are you thinking?
Shikamaru: Something about this bothers me. How could one guy have planted them all and when? There are so many paper bombs out there, it doesn't seem possible.
Shizune: Yes, you're right.
Shikamaru: There's gotta be more to this than meets the eye. (Thinking) I keep getting this feeling we're overlooking something...something important.
Tsunade: (Referring to Koharu and Homura) I appreciate their help, but those two really get on my nerves.
Koharu: It is our duty as village elders to give advice to those who are less experienced, not that you're wise enough to listen.
Tsunade: So you can still sense trouble is brewing despite your age and infirmities.
Koharu: Watch it! You're not as young as you look yourself you know.
Tsunade: What?! How dare you! Listen here you old bag of bones...
Koharu: I suggest you watch your temper and your mouth. Eh, Hokage?
Shikamaru: We need more manpower. It'll take forever finding them all this way.
Shizune: Yes, but there are no other shinobi left in the village.
Tsunade: Wait, there might be one or two. They have nothing else to do except sit around and complain all day so why not put them to work even if they're not in the best of shape.
Ino: Wait, you're not talking about...
Koharu: (Comes in) Who sits around and complains all day?!
Tenten: (Cuts fuse to the paper bomb that was under the practice target) There, that's one paper bomb that won't be going off.
Lee: Well done, Tenten!
Choji: We can breath easier now.
Shino: I'm afraid not. Our problems are just beginning.
Shikamaru: Yeah, if Gennou ever finds out that we discovered this one and he activated it, he might find a way to set off all those other paper bombs before we can do anything about them.
Shikamaru: Lady Hokage has met her match! That old woman is good!
Ino: No kidding.
Choji: Yeah, good and scary.
(Choji pops a bag, making an exploding sound)
Naruto: Choji, you almost gave me a heart attack, you jerk!
Naruto: Don't scare me like that, Choji!
Choji: Oh, sorry.
Lady Elder: It's our job to listen to the youths' opinions. What's wrong with them complaining?
Tsunade: It seems that you've had plenty of time to listen to the flowers (youths) of the village throughout your long life.
Lady Elder: You yourself are older than you look.
Tsunade: Wh-What did you just say?! You old hag!
Lady Elder: You should be more careful with how you say things, okay, Fifth?
Hinata: Naruto-kun, did you get it yet?
Naruto: Just a little... Just a little more...
Hinata: You can do it, Naruto-kun!
Naruto: Damn you, you stupid little...
Lady: Hey, what are you two doing?
Naruto: Uh-oh! My money fell into the crack in the wall.
Lady: I see. I'll get it for you later.
Naruto: No, no, no! That's to danger- Uh, no… I mean, I am in a hurry to go eat ramen.
Hinata: That's right.
Lady: Ichiraku is delicious, isn't it? Well, good luck.
Naruto: Yeah. Thank you.
Naruto: I think we pulled that off pretty well.
Hinata: That's Naruto-kun for you!
Old Man: For her to have us walk all this way shows she inherited the Third's lack of people skills.
Old Woman: It's not a strange place where the old folks talk about folklore. That's Tsunade! Once I get back, I'll make her sick.
Old Man: But what was that Gennou person thinking? it's pointless to put explosive tags in a place like this.
Old Woman: Do you really think so?
Old Man: What do you mean?
Old Woman: At one time, there were plans to make a shopping district in this area.
Old Man: But that was thirty years ago.
Shikamaru: (Reading from log book) A middle-aged man came from the Hidden Sand Village with a letter of introduction from his guarantor. His skills are so-so, but I need people, so I decided to hire him. This log entry is from one week after the attack on the Dragonfly Village!
(During preview of next epsiode)
Chouji: Shikamaru, you figured something out, didn't you?
Shikamaru: Yeah, Contact the Fifth Hokage right away.
Chouji: What's going on?
Hinata: It's terrible! Naruto-kun! Naruto-kun is-!
Naruto: Next Episode: Multiple Traps! Countdown to Collapse!
Gennou: Even if you don't let them explode, I can still make decent use of them!
(Gennou makes the exploding tag Naruto found explode)
Gennou: A shinobi has to think two or three steps ahead of the game and prepare for anything.
Aired on YTV: September 19, 2009.
Jiraiya was among one of the ninja seen attacking the Heat Devil Village 30 years ago. He was in a Jonin vest.
Original Title: Working Hard on Active Duty, The Strongest Helper
Original Airdate: September 13, 2006
When Naruto walked past Ichiraku, he figured out that Gennou was not there to eat ramen, but was looking at the Great Stone faces. When Naruto went to the Great Stone faces, he finds another exploding tag and Gennou inside, who shows Naruto that he can still set off the exploding tags even without a device to trigger them.
Gennou was a part of the Dragonfly Village thirty years ago. It was not mentioned in the Bingo Book because thirty years ago Konoha launched a surprise attack on the Dragonfly Village causing a ceasefire to be called. Two months after that the village was wiped out, thus making it no longer known.
Gennou worked in the village thirty years ago. To make sure that no one knew he worked in the village before he disposed of the first letter of introduction, he brought thirty years ago, not long after showing another letter that was only slightly different from the first. This also meant that the first letter was fake as well as the second.
The placement of the exploding tags and their age means that Gennou's trap is over thirty years old.
After the ending song and the preview for the next episode, an announcement is made for the upcoming 90-minute special on October 5th.
