      • Nash: So, what's goin' on with Evan?
        Joe: Well... He's better.
        Nash: And you?
Joe: Let's just say that it brought back certain memories.
        Nash: What, from our past?
        Joe: Mmm, exactly.
Nash: Well, little did I know way back then what a grand schemer you would become.
Joe: Hmm. Or a source of great revune to you, my detective brother.
Nash (laughs): This would be true, my brother.

      • Evan: Why are you doing all of this, Joe?
Joe: Well, because somebody did the same thing for me once. You know, Evan, I'm a lot like you. My whole family is full of cops. My uncle was a cop, my dad was a sheriff down in Riodoso, New Mexico. When I grew up, I wanted to go some place else, any place else. So I came here to San Francisco. It was my own place, y'know?
Evan: That's- That's sort of how I felt when I left Chicago.
Joe: Mmhmm. Well, I wasn't exactly a model cop, in those days, y'know. I think that I was trying to prove to my dad that, uh, I wasn't good enough to be a cop. Well anyways, one night after work, I had a few too many and got a DUI. I was on the verge of being bounced off the force. And my new partner whole didn't know me all that well, stood up for me. He didn't care if I was Mexican, which was a big back then. He went to bat for me.
        Evan: Nash?
Joe: Mmhmm. He believed in me a lot more than I believed in myself. Because of him, I got a second chance, and it changed my life.
Evan (sighs): I don't know what to do.
Joe: I don't want you to do anything, okay? I got a new place, and I want you to go there. And don't worry about El Diablo. I'll take care of him. ... Hey, you're gonna be fine. (Evan smiles)

      • Caitlin: See, that's why no one saw him going up to Ashley's room. He came down from another room.
Nash: Hmm. When did they check out?
Harvey: A day after the murder. They just waited up there until the cops split, and then they took off, making sure that they paid for the room in cash.
Caitlin: Right. That's why Ms. Thompson's name stayed on the registar but her credit card was never charged. It was... pretty smart.
Nash: I'll be sure to compliment them when we get their asses in here.

      • (Evan has a gun pointed under his chin, ready to kill himself)
Evan: I don't think you wanna be here right now, bro.
Joe: Hey, Evan, man, I'm here, I'm not goin' anywhere. Just-- Just be cool.
Evan: Nobody knows how I feel, Joe.
Joe: You're right. Nobody knows. Nobody knows how you feel. You're the only one, okay? So tell me about it, huh? Tell me about what happened today, tell me about what went on.
Evan: Today? ... Today I realzied... I spent my whole career chasing scumbags... And guess what, Joe? Now I am one. (sobs) I'm gonna pull this trigger, and I'm gonna stop all that pain that I've caused others... and my life is gonna be over.
Joe: Come on, Ev, don't be silly. Give me the gun, man. Come on.
        Evan: I'm absolutley alone!
Joe: Tell me about your pain, man. Where does it hurt? Huh? Tell me where it hurts.
Evan: The pain is everywhere, Joe. It's in my head, I feel it my arms, my legs... It won't go away, Joe. It's time for you to go now, Joe.
Joe: I'm not going anywhere, okay? I'm not goin' anywhere. Put it down, man. Put it down. Come on. Put it down, Ev.
Evan: I took the watch, Joe.
Joe: It's okay. It's just watch, it's just a little watch.
Evan (sobs): You'll never forgive me.
Joe: It's okay, man. (voice cracks) Don't w-worry about it. Come on, give me the gun.
        Evan: You forgive me?
Joe: Alright. Just give me the gun, come on, come on. Give it to me. (Evan lets go of the gun, and Joe takes it, Evan starts crying and falls into Joe's arms)

      • Harvey: Our amateur astronomaer came through. He picked Jared out of a lineup like that!
Nash: That's what I love about this city. You can be a pervert and a good citzen simoltaniously.

      • Joe: Give me the watch, Evan.
        Evan: What watch, Joe?
Joe: Give me the damn watch, Evan! And I'll try to forget that I opened up my home to you and you stabbed me in the back!
Evan: Joe are you accusing me of--
Joe: You don't get it, do you?! I'm the last friend taht you've got! Now, I want that watch back by the end of the day, or I'm gonna come back here and kick your ass.

      • Caitlin: So what happened with Boz?
Nash: Uh, as far as I know Boz is still holed up in his apartment.
Caitlin: You know that kinda agoraphobia is common in situations like this? Especially seeing a body fall from the sky, it's bond to bring on symptoms like his.
Nash: Well, thank you, Dr. Cross. My diagnosis is Bozaphobia. There's nothing wrong with him that becoming a partner in Bridges and Dominguez can't cure.
Caitlin: I don't know, Nash, I had this friend once who became agorphobic after a car accident, her whole life fell apart, her marriage, her family, everything. It was terrible.
        Nash: What happened?
Caitlin: Well, she found herself a very good psychatrist here in town and he fixed her right up.
Nash: Probably gave her a promotion.

      • Joe: What's up, man, we've been tryin' to call you?
Boz: Wh-What's up with me? What's up with this crazy ass kind of world that we live in, where a human being falls from the sky? Alright? I'm ch-chillin', I'm chillin', my brothers right here.
Joe: I've seen this before, Nashman, temporary agoraphobia.
Boz: Damn straight! Half my wardrobe's angora.

      • Nash: Alright, check with Ashley's office, maybe she had a boyfriend. Maybe she had a girlfriend who knew about the boyfriend. And let's keep tabs on the husband, just because he wasn't there doesn't mean he wasn't involved.
        Harvey: We're on it.
Joe: I have a feeling that I'm not gonna like this no matter how it turns out.
Nash: Well, Happy Valentine's day, bubba.

      • (Nash, Joe and Boz are at a resturant)
Boz: My brothers, we've reached a junction in the conjuction of our relationship.
        Nash: In English, Boz.
Boz: I've gotten an offer from another detective firm.
        Nash: Really?
Boz: They're offering to make me a junior partner.
        Nash: Oh.
Boz: Now the simple math is this, right, you match their offer and I stay, you don't and I go.
Nash (looking at the menu): Chicken looks good.
Joe: Yeah, I was lookin' at that myself. (Boz shakes his head) Oh uh, bye bye.
Boz: Alright, come on, c'mon here! Now you know my loyalty is to the Bridges and Dominguez, firm alright? Bridges and Dominguez. Alright, so where's the reciprocity?
Nash: Uh... We don't like being leveraged.
Boz: You know what? Fine. Fine. I ain't gonna beg. (gets up from the table)
        Joe: Ah, let him go.
Nash: What are you worried about? He'll be right back.
Boz (comes back over to the table): You know what? You know what? I have given you the best years of my life! And the chicken sucks!

      • Joe: So, what's up with Boz?
Nash: I'll tell you exactly what's up with him. He wants a promotion.
        Joe: What? No way.
Nash: Trust me on this one, bubba.
Joe: Alright, he'll go from assistant to executive assistant.
Nash: Ah... I think that his ambitions are some what higher than that.
Joe: Hey, I got in this detective business with to be parters with you, not a bunch of other guys.
Nash: We'll hear 'em out, then we'll say no.

      • Nash: What's-- What's going on with you? Ulla using your razor blades now?
Joe: Ah, Nashman, it's this whole Evan thing.
Nash: Yeah, maybe we outta put him out of his misery, so we can get put out of ours.
Joe: Don't tempt me, man. He took something from my house, the watch that I gave Inger for her fortieth. I called him on it, and he denied it.
        Nash: Write him off, Joe.
        Joe: Ahh. Can you?
Nash: I don't know. I know you can't help anybody that's not willing to help themselves. (to Harvey) Well?
Harvey: As far as I can tell, boys, there's one thing missing from my apartment - that's the gun that I bought from Evan.
        Joe: Ah, that idiot!
        Nash: Where is he?!
Joe: Ah, I think that I can find him.
Harvey: How do you wanna play this one, Nash?
Nash: I'll tell you what I wanna do.
Joe: Let me see if I can talk to him, okay?
        Nash: Harvey?
Harvey: I'll ignore my emotional response, do what you think is best, man.
