Episode Summary

Rip Off

A small time getaway driver sets up two robbery gangs to rob each other, while he walks away with the loot and complete immunity. Joe works an off duty case for a man who receives the exact amount of money he paid for a ransom when his son was kidnapped five years prior. Trying to help Evan out, and re-evaluate him, Joe has him work the case too. The 'Cuda's hood is graffitied, and Nash puts Boz Bishop on the case.

      • Nash: I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll give you $200 if we find Lover 101.
Boz: Aw, man. I don't play the bitch for no man. Anything less than 5, and I dive.
Nash (stops the car): Okay dive, bitch.
Boz (gets out of the car): Your loss, boss. (Nash starts to drive away) Hold up, hold up.
        Nash (stops the car): What?
Boz: C'mon man, what were you just gonna leave me hangin' here with no negotiations?
Nash: $200, take it or leave it.
Boz (gets back in the car): Man, whatever happened to the bartar system?
        Nash: You just saw it.

      • (They are on the phone. Nash is in his car and Boz is blasting rap music)
Joe: Hey, Nashman. Guess where I am?
Nash: Uh, where ever you are, it's a hell of a lot better than where I am.

      • (Boz just helped Nash find Lover 101)
Boz: Now, how you gonna compensate the Wizard of Boz here for my time?
        Nash: Compensate you?
Boz: Yeah! You- You called me for my expertise. Expertise advice is gonna cost 'ya.
Nash: Boz, why would I compensate you when you already work for the detective agency?
Boz: Aw, c'mon, c'mon, c'mon, whitey. It's my day off.
Nash: Everday is your day off. Every time I see 'ya, you got your feet up, or you're on the phone tryin' to cast 'Booty Call 2.'
Boz: I spell what you're sayin' here, alright. But look, I didn't ask for no employee evaulation, boss man. I'm talkin' about four simple words that you ain't followin'. Com-Pen-Say-Tion. And if you're interested, my preference would be the Benjimans.
Nash: Well, why don't you try the unemployment line? You might meet a Benjiman there.

      • Nash (about Evan): So how did he seem?
        Joe: He's on board.
Nash: That's not a ringing endorsement.
Joe: Let's wait until he gets up to speed. He's been out a while.
        Nash: Alright. Fine.
Joe: You know, I admit it... I'm rootin' for the guy.
        Nash: Me too, Joe.

      • Ernie: Look, I told you man, I didn't steal anything. You can't hold me.
Joe: Look, there's no loopholes in the law for being dumb enough to get jacked at your own robbery, Vesper.
        Nash: Trust us, you're guilty.
Ernie: Nah, I don't think so. (to Joe) Could you check with somebody?
Joe: Uh, yeah just a second um... Nash?
        Nash: Guilty. (points thumb down)
        Joe: Sorry, dude.
Nash: What is the matter with you, Ernie? Is no one home up there? What's is going on? (Ernie starts to cry. Nash looks at Harvey) What's he doing?
Harvey: I think he's gonna cry, boss.
        Nash: Aw, jeez!
Ernie: Look, man, I'm sorry I've been under a lot of stress lately. ... Okay, what are you offering?
Nash: What am I... What am I offering? Well I'll tell you what I'm offering, zipola, nothing! Ernie we caught you red-handed you're going to jail. The only question is are the guys that ripped you off going to jail with you?
Ernie: The guy's that ripped me off are the ones ya'll should be goin' after.
Nash (to Harvey and Joe): Are we speaking French here? That's what were trying to do Ernie. You help us, we help you, everybody goes to jail, it's not that hard.
Ernie: I still don't get why you bustin' my chops.
Joe (sighs): One of your nimrods, tipped off the other bad guys, but we don't know which one until we interview them all. Get it?
Ernie: This is a trick, isn't it? Because I really don't think that I can be charged with any. Ya'll need to check whatever manuals you got because I'm pretty sure I'm right about this. I don't have any stolen goods.
Nash (to Harvey): Check his pulse.

      • Joe: We got an meey with our new clients in 25 minutes.
Nash: I want you to use Evan on this.
        Joe: Evan. As in Cortez?
Nash: Mmm. His suspension is almost up and I gotta make a decision on him in the next couple of days.
        Joe: Which way you leanin'?
Nash: I don't know. He isn't showing up for his psychatric appointments or his anger management classes. I kinda would like to know what he's tryin' to tell us, or if he knows what he's trying to tell us.
Joe: So how's this detective gig gonna help?
Nash: Get him out in the field. See what's goin' on in his head.

      • Officer (looking outside): He's not gonna be happy about this.
Nash: What? (Nash walks outside to see his car has been tagged) What the- No, no, no, no! What's this? Son of a--
Joe: How the hell did that get on there?
Nash (touches the paint): This is fresh, man. It just happened. You mean out of the 50 some odd cops who work on this dock, nobody witnessed anything? Hello!
Joe: Hey, I got some solvent in my trunk take this right out man.
Nash: No, sir. You leave that right there. That's evidence, mister. I'm gonna find the bastard who did this. And I'm gonna get him to tell what was in his head when he was messing up my car like this. And then he's gonna take it off! And if I have to repaint the damn thing, he's payin' for it. (starts walking away)
Joe: You know, Nashman, the longer you leave it on here the harder it's gonna be to get off.
Nash (walks back towards his car): You know something? I don't get it. Does no one have any respect for anything anymore? (points to his car) That is a 71' 'Cuda! (walks away angry)

      • (Upon seeing Nash's tagged hood)
        Boz: Holy mother of god!
Nash: Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction.
Boz: Lover 101 defiled your wheels?
Nash: Yeah. I'm gonna defile his face as soon as I catch him.
