Nashville Is Nearing a Fifth Season Renewal, but Where?

Okay, maybe we haven't seen the last of Rayna (Connie Britton) crooning a classic at the Bluebird Cafe, or Deacon (Charles Esten) having another breakdown, or Juliette (Hayden Panettiere) guzzling down a magnum of champers. Once thought to be dead, the ABC country-music drama Nashville is nearing an 11th-hour save from another network.

That mystery network is, appropriately, basic cable's CMT (Country Music Television), which is in the late stages of negotiations with Nashville producer Lionsgate, according to Deadline. The deal could be done by Wednesday, which would allow CMT to announce the deal during its Wednesday night broadcast of the CMT Awards. Better book your flight now, Connie Britton.

ABC's Nashville has received deserved praise for its handling of Will Lexington's (Chris Carmack) struggles with his sexuality, and his whole coming out storyline. But now, some of the show's stars find themselves in the middle of a real-life battle over a recently-passed Tennessee law that discriminates against LGBT people.

House Bill 1840, which Gov. Bill Haslam signed into law this week, gives therapists and other mental health professionals the right to refuse to treat patients whose lifestyles go against the professional's "sincerely held principals."

When the bill was still under review, Nashville star Connie Britton spoke out against it, telling The Hollywood Reporter: "I shoot a TV show in Tennessee, and honestly, if they proceed with this, I'm not necessarily going to feel comfortable working there. ABC Announces Finale Dates for Scandal, Once Upon a Time and More

ABC announced the season finale dates for all of Shondaland and more on Monday.

Scandal will be the first ABC series to end its season, with its Season 5 finale set for May 12. A few days later, Once Upon a Time will air a special two-hour finale on Sunday, May 15. And Once isn't the only ABC series to get a super-sized finale: The Catch and Agents of SHIELD will also air two-hour finales later that month.
