Episode Summary

Flood At Stava Dam
On July 19, 1985, two tailings dams at Stava, near Trento, Italy collapsed. A resulting tremendous force of mud flowed down the steep mountain side at speeds of up to 90km/h, tearing through forest and through two small villages in Trento. 268 people died in just 3 ½ minutes. These dams were formed from 20 years of discharge of tailings from a series of fluoride mines, located all around the mountain. CGI provides a second by second look at the flow of destruction caused from the mudslide. Residences share their terrifying ordeal in the disaster. And the causes of the dam’s failure are investigated.moreless
