National Heads-Up Poker Championships

Show Summary

The National Heads-Up Poker Championship is an annual poker tournament covered by NBC. Arguably the toughest aspect of Texas Hold-Em poker is when only two players remain on a table. Called âHeads-Upâ poker, the play is tense, exciting, and wildly unpredictable. In this tournament, the best poker players from around the world gather in Las Vegas to battle it out for the title of best Heads-Up player. Powerhouses like Phil Hellmuth, Chris âJesusâ Ferguson, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Johnny Chan, and Daniel Negreanu face off for a shot at the $500,000 grand prize. In addition to the poker professionals, several poker-playing celebrities from other fields are invited. Past celebrities include Don Cheadle, James Woods, and Shannon Elizabeth. The participants are divided into four randomly-drawn brackets â clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades â with the winner of each Heads-Up matchup moving on to the next round. In the final matchup, a best-of-three series determines the grand prize winner. Join past winners like superstars Phil Hellmuth, Ted Forrest, Paul Wasicka, Chris âJesusâ Ferguson, Huck Seed, and Annie Duke as they battle for the impressive title of champion of The National Heads-Up Poker Championship.
