Arthur Space, who performed admirably in dozens of feature films and a great many television shows ("Lassie," "Superman," "The Gene Autry Show," "Perry Mason," etc.), has an opportunity - as farmer Herbert Brown - to develop his character exceedingly well in this story of the taciturn father's unfortunate decision to force his daughter's horse, King, to pull a wagon. Velvet (Lori Martin) blames her gruff parent for the serious injunry the horse suffers - and it is up to him to single-handedly save the horse when the veterinarian is unavailable. Arthur Space deserved greater recognition for his splendid work on film and on stage. He - and every other member of the cast of "National Velvet" - performed splendidly in every installment.moreless
