South Dakota character actor Fred Sherman makes the most of a small role as the owner of a show horse whose car and van crash on the road near the Browns' farm. The Shetland pony is in foal and dies during childbirth, while her owner is unconscious and fighting for his life in the Browns' stable, tended by Mi (Jimmy McCallion). Little Donald (Joey Scott) becomes attached to the small, motherless pony. When its owner recovers, his gratitude is such that he gives the pony to the boy - thus adding an animal character to the series as it begins a second (and, sadly, last) season.moreless
