Denver Pyle is always good, and his portrayal of a down-on-his-luck farmer who is drifting around in search of needed funds for his family is excellent. He winds up on the Brown farm, where he cuts wood for a dollar, as occurred during the Depression (a few decades before this show was filmed), and is fairly assessed as a good person by the Brown youngsters - though suspected of thievery by some of the adults. Much of the charm of this series is the blending of the old and the new. In this episode, a contemporary setting presents us with old-fashioned situations, values, and plot elements. The tramp is vindicated and good triumphs over bad, as well it should in a production of this nature.moreless
