  • One shock, one not so shocking.

    7.0
Well, those dastardly Boston Celtics continue their winning ways and could prove to be a valiant foe for anybody who should face them in the playoffs. While I still feel they are just a bit away from being contenders, they do have a deep team. Their bench could compete with most starting lineups in the league.

In the second game Van Gundy and Jackson called the action with Dan Shulman, which does not work. Jeff and Mark need to be with Breen, the three bring out the best in each other. Anyway, the Mavericks winning came as a shock to me, especially since the game was at Staples.moreless
  • Dallas Mavericks snap a six-game losing streak to the Los Angeles Lakers, 94-80.

I was kind of downed after seeing the Washington Wizards spoil the Mavericks' home opener, 100-93. But hey, Gilbert Arenas deserved to play well. He had only played 2 games last year. And then I looked at the Mavs' upcoming schedule, and once I saw the Lakers, in Los Angeles, I skipped them to the next opponent, because I didn't expect them to play very well. But thank goodness, Pau Gasol was out, and Kobe Bryant was either having an off night, or the Mavericks were determined to fight off an 0-2 start to the season. It was probably a little of both. Whatever it was, it got me excited to see Dallas take on the Clippers the next day, for a chance to sweep the L.A. teams in two nights. All the Mavericks played well. Dirk had his 27th consecutive regular season game in which he scored 20 or more points, longest active streak in the league. Sean Marion had a great game; I'm glad he's in Dallas, and that he has a great passer such as Kidd with him, again. Who knows? Maybe the Mavericks will match up well against last year's Elite this season.moreless
