In a month where football fever is running rampant the NBA needs to deliver high-quality games to keep fans interested. The Christmas day games were an escape for anybody who did not want to spend time with their family (just about everybody) but were not the greatest display of athleticism the world has ever seen.
Early in the day we saw a sluggish affair between a 50% effort-giving New Orleans Hornets and the Orlando Magic. TNT's opening game came down to the wire and Cleveland barely escaped with a W over a horrible Wizards team. Cleveland will need to work harder if they hope to return to the NBA Finals anytime soon.
The Dallas Mavericks pulled off a big win on the road where the Blazers showed their inefficiencies due to their youth. Brandon Roy is a top candidate for MVP but he made several mistakes down the line and his team fell apart.
Overall NBA on TNT was a good escape from a hectic Christmas day.
