  • Deserving Champions

This season's Kentucky is somewhat like the North Carolina a few years back in that there was a sense of inevitability of this day arriving - and in both cases it was. While John Calipari deserves credit for winning the big, the cynic in me wonders if the NCAA sanctions that have followed him around from job to job will one day land in Lexington.

The game itself seemed over by the 10 minute mark. I think Kansas deserves a ton of credit for hanging in there and making a courageous comeback that came up a little bit short. Both teams deserve congratulations for terrific seasons.moreless
  • 2012 National Championship

Well, it was the New York Yankees of the college basketball ranks, the Kentucky Wildcats taking on the Kansas Jayhawks, another team that has achieved a lot of success so who to root for? Not sure, but regardless this was a solid title game, much better than the effort from both teams last year. You got a sense these were really the best two schools in the country, also unlike last year.

Good game and as much as I am not a fan of John Calipari, he deserves credit for finally winning the big one.moreless

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Kentucky Coach John Calipari: What I'm hoping is there are six first-rounders on this team. I'm fine with that. That's why I've got to go recruiting on Friday.
Kentucky Coach John Calipari: This is not about me, this is about these 13 players. This is about the Big Blue Nation. But I don't know of any team that has sacrificed for each other like this team and they deserve this moment, they really do.
(on finally winning a national championship)
Kentucky Coach John Calipari: I told my wife, I'm glad it's done. Now I can get about my business of coaching basketball and getting these players to be the best that they can be, helping young people, you know, create better lives for themselves and their families and also helping them prepare for life after basketball. I can get on with that. I don't have to hear the drama. I can just coach now. I don't have to worry. If you want to know the truth, it's almost like, 'Done,' let me move on.

    • Kansas Guard Travis Releford: Nobody even expected us to be here in the first place, for us to have a great season. And we did. We were able to compete for a championship. We had a great year.

    • Kansas Guard Tyshawn Taylor: It (stinks) that we have to be down 14 before we want to start fighting. Guess that's kind of what happened.
