Final Score
Arizona 66 North Carolina 58
This was North Carolina's 13th Final Four appearance.
This was Arizona's third Final Four appearance.
Arizona Coach Lute Olson: A very, very big key to us was the way our interior players played against their interior players. That was a very big key against Kansas as well. It was beneficial for us to have played Kansas. So many of the same things are done by Carolina. The Kansas win gave us confidence that we could beat any team we come up against.
North Carolina Coach Dean Smith: The only thing that really surprised me was the shot-blocking inside once we threw over the top. Generally we get to the foul line when we get the ball there.
North Carolina Forward/Center Antawn Jamison: Most people think about the perimeter when they think of Arizona. They can really shoot. But their inside guys did a terrific job. That's probably why they are here today.
Arizona Guard Miles Simon: As many Final Fours as they've been to and as many times you've seen them playing on TV in the championship, all the good players that have come through, I'm just glad that it's Arizona's time now.
.
Arizona Guard Miles Simon: The key with Shammond (Williams) was limiting his touches. He would pump fake and take a dribble in, but we were with him every step of the way. We wanted to make him put it on the floor because he's a great spot-up shooter. With my (6'5") and Michael Dickerson's {6'5"), it's hard for him to shoot over us.
