Well, the first game of the tournament already goes into overtime. March Madness truly has arrived.

UNC Asheville picked up the win, and while they might not be the devil's team of UNC I was still hoping for Arkansas-Little Rock to get the win. It was a fun back and forth game to kick off the tournament and seeing the announcers struggle correctly say the initials of these teams, let alone make comments about these teams was a nice added bonus.

The real tournament begins on Thursday, but I have to say for two terrible schools this was not a bad game at all.moreless

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Arkansas-Little Rock Coach Steve Shields: I have to give Asheville a lot of credit. They showed some toughness. There's so much disappointment in our locker room ... [We] gave ourselves a chance to win.

    • UNC-Asheville Coach Ed Biedenbach: This is a great opportunity for us. We're not going to lose the game or win the game because we're nervous playing Pitt, because we've played everybody. We've played four to seven of these kind of games every year.

    • UNC-Asheville Guard Matt Dickey: I came in at halftime and they kept telling me to keep being aggressive, my shots will start falling. I started getting open looks, my shot started falling and it felt good.

UNC-Asheville Guard Matt Dickey: We're playing really good now and it feels good to go to the second round.
