I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when that really fat gang member charged at LL Cool J. Hilarious moment, as was just about everything involving the gang. The leader's dialogue was hilarious and insanely awesome. I kind of wish he could become a recurring character on this show. This was an okay episode for me, but I really think that is the problem with this show. It settles for being safe and just "okay" every week, instead of trying something daring and innovative. It is almost like the Jay Leno of procedurals.

NCIS: LA is worth watching, but this show is not one of the better dramas on TV.moreless
  • When a Marine gets gunned downed on a city street by gangbangers with AK-47's G and his team investigate his younger brother and try to come up with ties to gang violence. They suspect that somehow the weapons are being imported through the military.moreless

The problem with this show is not the stories or the production. Both are very good at times. The action is great. The only problem is the action can't carry the show.

I can speak to a specific scene to use as an example. Hetty comes in and Sam says something to the effect that he can't be snuck up on. They discuss the many kids killed by violence and then the story continues. OK, a couple of problems. The acting is really bad. The scene comes out like a television commercial for stopping the street violence. Not a negative thing in itself. It just feels very stick like and not very comfortable at all. Most of the time when we have these types of scenes this is how they come off in this show.

Another problem is the level of risk that these agents seem to expose themselves too on a regular basis. In this plot the scene where Sam infiltrates the gang just does not work. There were about half a dozen times that they would have smoked him. Unfortunately that is the case in a lot of these episodes. Believability. Bottom line is the acting is fairly mediocre. It almost feels like they are going through the motions more than really working at their craft. Unfortunately that is just the way it feels to me. There's no commitment. This show is guaranteed to be on for a number of years so we don't have to work at this. This is not all the actors by the way, just a select few. Unfortunately it the ones that really have to carry the show.

So I would have to say I would not recommend this episode or the last one for that matter. Hopefully we'll get back to the crispness of the first few episode here pretty soon. Thanks for reading...moreless
  • Episode is about guns, drugs and some kid who has to make the right choice.

    8.0
Truthfully, this episode is rather crappy on the plot end of things. I've watched it four times now and I can't seem to remember much about it. However, I feel as though this episode deserves at least an 8, possibly a 9, for the FABULOUS Hetty quotes. She was ABSOLUTELY on her game, with perfect timing and delivery for all of her lines. She has several scenes with Callen that can alternately make you laugh hysterically and tug at your heartstrings. Not to mention the Spider Monkey comment. The line itself is funny, but she delivers it with impeccable timing and makes the scene priceless. Watch the first few minutes a couple of times before settling in for a mostly forgettable episode.moreless
  • Quite good! This show hads episodes which are amazing, and episodes that are ridiculously boring, and for this one, I'd have to go with the former!

    9.5
This was another quite enjoyable episode of NCIS: Los Angeles! I quite enjoyed the storyline, and the undercover work in this episode was remarkable!

Hetty was as amazing as ever when she was wielding that dangerous blade! I just love her character so much! She does so muhch for this show!

I thought the case had a lot off strong points, and Ican't wait for some more episodes, if they are going to produce them of this sort of quality!

Overall, not my favorites episode, but it definitely ranks up there! Keep it up, LA, as I think this show has potential, and it is finally starting to realise it!moreless

    • (Sam and Callen are entering the office, Sam finds a Chinese spear and begins playing with it)
Callen: Do I have to remind you of the nunchuck incident? You get hurt; you're driving yourself to the ER. That's all I'm saying.

    • (Sam is working on the computer)
Sam: You know, I don't like people sneaking up on me, Hetty.
      Hetty: I tread lightly, I don't sneak.

    • James: You can't protect me any better than my brother could.
Sam: You're right because sooner or later we all end up on our own with no one at our back. At that point, you have to decide which side you're on; whether you're gonna run or fight. Now, you choose to stick with Slide and his gang, you'll wind up dead, just like JJ. Try running from Slide and his crew, you'll probably wind up dead too. Because they're gonna hunt you down like a dog. But if you stand and fight with us, I promise you, we will take these guys down and you won't have to run or hide again.

    • Hetty: Go with God, Mister Callen or whoever it is who watches over you.
Callen: I have a guardian angel. She's tiny, but very tough.

    • Callen: You wanna be briefed on this?
      Hetty: I don't know. Do I?
Callen: I can run it by Director Vance, if you prefer.
Hetty: Oh Lord, no. One of the reasons I'm here is to protect him as a designated fall guy. 'I had no previous knowledge of the operation, Mister Secretary. That mad woman went off her rocker and acted autonomously.'
Callen: You're the first line of defence?
Hetty: Yeah, you gotta get by me first.

    • (Eric blows a whistle from the balcony to the rest of the team)
      Eric: All hands on deck!
Callen: (to Hetty) You gave him a whistle?
Hetty: Oh, do I look as if I have gone daft? I'd sooner give a chainsaw to a spider monkey. At least I took his Segway away. I'll speak to Mr. Beale.
Sam: Sooner than later, okay? Because the next time he toots that thing, he won't be using his lips.
