  • Maybe Best of the Series!

    10
I loved everything about this episode. It may be the best episode not only of the season, but of the entire series. "Descent" was edgy, intense, suspenseful and managed to continue the great characterizations of Callan, Sam, Deeks, Kensi and the incredible Hetty. Just edging out the others as my favorite character on the show, Deeks was struggling with a variety of emotions in this episode as the writers seemed to really begin to explore this character of great depth and potential. I love the Densi dynamic and hope that the season, and especially this episode, set up some even more emotional episodes in the new season. My hope is that in the season premiere, the writers do not skip the hurt/comfort and angst that should come about as a result of the torture and shootings. Some of the best raw emotion comes about when the fear of death is looming over the characters. I hope they play this out for all it is worth! Can't wait to see what develops.moreless

This was the best episode of the season. Lots of action, drama and suspense. I hope next season continues to be superb.
  • One of the most intense hours of TV I've ever seen!

A couple of the TV shows I watch have had amazing cliffhangers this year. A couple have not had any really. And a couple have had semi-confusing ones.

But NCIS LA had the most intense hour of TV I've just about ever seen today! The episode was beyond flawless. It was so suspenseful and we've got multiple cliffhangers for multiple characters. I cannot wait to see how this play s out come Season 5!

This episode underlines just why NCIS LA is one of the best shows on TV. I impatietnyl await Season 5 - can't wait! Highly recommend this episode - although a 30-minute wait after eating is advisable. :Pmoreless
  • Rite of passage

    8.5
First of all: I hate cliffhangers.

Second: Interesting. They finally "outed" Kensi and Deeks' emotions - or at least Deeks', as Kensi quite literally ran away from The Moment.

Despite all the other plotlines and their emotional content, I felt this was a red thread throughout the whole episode.

Deeks has always been an outsider looking in, and it's clear that the time has come to deal with this.

If Kensi and Deeks end up pursuing a relationship, "older brothers" Sam and G will need to deal as well; G seems to have accepted that Deeks-the-former-cop is actually both dedicated and competent, despite his careless and -free appearance.

Sam seems to have some reservations still - and the way I read it, the writers are using Quinn and a spot of torture for Deeks to prove his dedication.

He's showing that he can be backup even in extreme situations, that he'll have your back come hell or high water; I don't see him giving up Quinn, and Sam may finally accept him as an equal the way he does G and to a certain degree Kensi.

We've seen both G and Sam being held and tortured before, and know that they're the kind of stoic toughguys who never talk. But Deeks never really had a chance to show that side - untill now.

I see this as a bit of a "rite of passage" for him to gain full acceptance from his colleagues, and I hope they manage to handle the potential romance between him and Kensi with a bit of elegance and finesse.moreless
