  • McGee Escorts Abby To Mexico Where She Has To Make A Speech. Meanwhile, A Serial Killer Is On The Loose Who's Sawing Off Feet.

WOW!!! This is definitely one of the best "NCIS" episodes ever! It does a good job in keeping the viewer's interest in the case and keeps him/her guessing until the end. The conclusion to the case was something that I did not see coming and I do not think many others saw either. One final positive note about the case is the guest appearance of Claudia Black. The other storyline was the highlight here. It was entertaining to watch Abby and McGee in Mexico and their dialogues were brilliant. Abby is definitely the best character in the show and it is good to see her take a primary role in an episode. Pauley Perrette gives one of her best performances here. Way to go Abby!moreless
  • Abby has a decision to make

    10
In this episode of NCIS, the following happens. When a Navy petty officer is found murdered with his feet removed, the NCIS team are called in. They believe that he is the latest victim of a serial killer. Only when they dig deeper we learn that he was the killer, taking out drug dealers. Abby goes to Mexico with McGee to investigate a cold case. While she investigates Abby learns that the person who killed the victim was Gibbs. The killer was the man who was responsible for the murder of his wife and daughter. As the episode ends, we see Abby and Gibbs in his basement discussing what Abby has found out. Abby begs Gibbs to tell her that she is wrong, as she knows if it is true she has to turn him in. Now Abby has the biggest decision of her life to make.moreless
  • Aaaaaaah! The pain! A whole week till next episode - I'm dying here! They can't end an episode with poor Abby looking so heartbroken, it's just cruel!

    9.0
I hate it - and I love it.

While the "main" plot was chugging along in the background, all my focus was on Abby (who is Awesome) and Gibbs from the moment she saw the damning newspaper clip.

The pain she's going through as she gradually confirms her suspicions, and her guiltridden and awkward tippytoing around Gibbs, is just heartbreaking.

And Gibbs, watching his past catching up with him, possibly to bring his whole life down around his ears - and yet he is an honorable man, unable to do anything to stop or influence Abby in her quest for the truth.

I can't wait to see where this takes us. Is this the end of NCIS? Will Gibbs finally find peace and put his past to rest?

And will they stop working so hard on making Tony appear dumber and more irritating every week? Come on, I love the character - give him some room, people!moreless
  • Absolutely fantastic! One thing thats niggling at me...

    10
As I said absolutely fantastic par one thing. When Ducky was conducting the autopsy on Pedro Herandez, (I think thats his name) aka the guy who killed Gibbs'first wife and child, shouldn't he have known who he was conducting the autopsy on? I mean in the Season three finale, Director Sheppard showed him the picture of Herandez and Ducky said not to look for him that he was propably killed by Gibbs. Anyway maybe I'm jumping the gun and it will be addressed in the upcoming episodes. Anyway like I was saying absolutely great! I must agree with an earlier reviewer, Abby is to good for her own good. And her face at the end, Oh God poor, poor Abby.

I look forward to the next episode and the finale. Oh God, what am I going to do after the finale, I don't think I can wait for Season Eight.moreless
  • Tony keeps getting nexted.

    9.5
An incredible episode. After several average, filler episodes NCIS, I am pleased to say, is back in business!

The case started out good with an apparent serial killer at work who saws off the feet of his victims however it truly took a backseat once Abby's discovery came out. Her time in Mexico and the cold case she was working on seemed at first to be nothing but an interesting sub-plot but we ended up with a shocking revelation, skeletons from Gibbs's past and a poor and distraught Abby who now has a tough choice to make.

Pauley Perrette's performance was amazing, the episode unexpectedly veered off into a much more personal and intriguing area just when you thought it was going to be another usual filler and we even got a reference back to "Jet Lag" raising the question again of what happened that night in "Par-ee". Overall a fantastic episode as we head towards the season finale.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (5)

    • TRIVIA: While watching an interrogation, McGee asks Tony why he created a fake online girlfriend for him the previous year. This happened in the episode 6x14 "Love & War."

    • GOOF: Ziva claims that sulphuric acid is the only acid strong enough to dissolve bone. This is completely false, most mineral acids will do this in sufficiently high concentrations as will a number of other chemicals. Technically the "strength" of the acid is not the most important factor anyway, for instance hydrofluoric acid is a relatively weak acid but would be much more effective than other many other choices. More important considerations would be how easy it is to obtain and handle. Sulphuric acid would be very difficult on both counts and hydrofluoric prohibitively so on the latter.

    • Gibbs' Rule #40: If it seems like someone is out to get you, they are.

    • GOOF: The case Abby is given is new production and would not have been available in the 1990s.

    • GOOF: The rifle Gibbs is shooting is a short bolt Remington 700, which would correct for 7.62mm NATO, but could not chamber a 338 Lapua. Also, the recovered round is far to small for the 338, which is truly enormous, and would never have been contained by the skull.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • McGee: You want to flip for the couch?
Abby: Come on, McGee. It's not like we haven't shared a bed together before.
McGee: Well, technically, that was a coffin. And I'm just letting you know, that if you and I sleep in this bed together, I am a Quasimodo for a week.
Abby: Now I know why Ziva took the couch in Paris.
McGee: Tony said that he took the couch in Paris. (they look at each other) Hmm.

    • Abby: A mini-POW!? Ugh! This is another bad omen. Gibbs, this does not bode well for my future.
Gibbs: Abby, I wouldn't worry about it.
      Abby: Why's that?
Gibbs: Because I got your back. Always have had. Always will.

    • (Gibbs brings Abby a tiny Caf-Pow!)
Abby: What the biohazardous material is this?!

    • (Tony is on the dating website)
Ziva: Perhaps you are not as interesting as you think you are.
Tony: This coming from the woman who is reading the Bill Of Rights for entertainment?

    • Abby: You know why I'm here. I matched the bullet in Pedro Hernandez' head to your sniper rifle. You killed him. In cold blood. I mean, I know what he did, Gibbs. He... He killed your wife and your daughter. But, Gibbs...
      Gibbs: I know.
Abby: Gibbs doesn't do things like that. Or-Or-Or does he? Now I don't know. I don't know anything. The only thing that I do know is that I didn't find this out by accident.
      Gibbs: Rule 40.
Abby: "If it seems like someone is out to get you, they are." Just... You have no idea how much I wished it was yesterday. Maybe if I could just close my eyes and open them again, it will be. (She closes her eyes and tries that) Do you realize the situation that I'm in now?
      Gibbs: Yeah, I know.
Abby: I mean, do you understand the choice that I have to make now?
      Gibbs: I know.
      Abby: Stop saying, "I know."
Gibbs: What do you want me to say?
Abby: Tell me that I'm wrong. Tell me that I made a mistake with the ballistics or...
Gibbs: No. No, I can't say that.
Abby: Then... tell me how much I've been like a daughter to you... and how much you love me.
      Gibbs: Will that help?
Abby: No. What I really need to know, Gibbs... is if you're going to love me, no matter what?
