GOOF: About 20 minutes into the episode, Abby opens an email from Tony with an attached list of possible suspects. If you pause the screen when she opens the email message, you can see "Send", "Save Draft" "Attach Files" and other buttons indicating that it is not an actual received message, but a new message being composed.
TRIVIA: We learn from Palmer that Ducky takes Pilates classes.
GOOF: When Gibbs starts to explain to Tony how he messed up the investigation against Renny, Gibbs calls him "Remy" by mistake.
TRIVIA: This is the first time Gibbs has called Tony by his given name ("Anthony"). He almost always refers to him as "DiNozzo," with "Tony" used on special occasions.
Gibbs Rules: Rule #38 - Your case, your lead.
Wilkins: How's Ziva?
Tony: (surprised) Ziva? Why?
Wilkins: I haven't seen her in a while.
Tony: Three years. Yeah, right, of course.
Wilkins: Closer to two, when she added me as a friend on Facebook.
Tony: Ziva's on Facebook?
Wilkins: You ever see her knife collection? Ooh-rah!
Tony: You've been to her place?
Wilkins: It was a double-team.
Gibbs: Where were you last night?
Gibbs: You alone?
Tony: Of course not. Not that there's anything wrong with drinking bourbon alone in your basement. With a boat.
Tony: Did you catch up on Renny's embezzlement case?
Gibbs: Yes. And I went through his appeal.
Tony: (smugly) Let me guess- wasted three years of his life.
Gibbs: Nope, you did. Kid was innocent.
Tony: Who set you up, Renny? Can you prove that it was Lt. Grady?
Renny: Already proved I didn't do it, and now you expect me to find the guy who did. What exactly are you going to do?
Tony: (as he mixes a hangover remedy) I barely made it out of there alive.
Ziva: And now you hope to finish the job.
Tony: McGee, say words.
McGee: What you see before you, Ziva, is the DiNozzo Defibrillator. It's been passed down through six generations.
Ziva: My family also has a hangover remedy: jasmine tea with lime.
Tony: That's disgusting. Remind me to never have a hangover in Israel.
(Gibbs walks in)
Tony: Not that I have a hangover now, Boss. You know I would never drink on a school night.
Tony: McGee, stroke my plumage.
Tony: Victim's background, credit cards, bank statements. Gibbs, take a look at Renny's appeal. Use it to catch yourself up on the original embezzelment case, then work with McGee.
Gibbs: On it, Boss.
Ziva: Are you going back to Mexico?
McGee: Who'd wanna impersonate Tony?
Ziva: Perhaps Jack Nicholson. You know, impersonation revenge?
McGee: Or it's a frame-up.
Ziva: Jeanne Benoit?
McGee: Overseas. Maybe it was Trent Kort.
Ziva: Are you detecting a trend here?
McGee: Tony does have a way with people.
Tony: Don't believe the word he says. We've got motive, we've got opportunity.
Tony: I know. Why'd he come back?
Gibbs: It's a good question... Boss.
Gibbs: Was your case, wasn't it?
Tony: Yeah. You're not going back to Mexico, are you?
Gibbs: Your case, your lead.
Gibbs: Yeah. I think it's even a rule.
Tony: Well, that's my name, it's not my signature. But that's my name. And to think I almost made entire year without being accused of murder.
Desk Clerk: The guy did look a lot like you.
Tony: Not helping.
Desk Clerk: Was a little more fit though.

Tony: (To Mitch) Larry, Curly, Moe... The Three Stooges.
The Three Stooges was an American Vaudeville and comedy act in the mid 20th century, and it also became a long running (1930-1959) TV show. The Three Stooges comprised of Moe Howard, Curly Howard and Larry Fine.
Tony: (To McGee) Any chance it could be my doppel friend?
Tony used the short form of "doppelganger," which is someone who is pretending to be you while doing evil deeds.
Mitch: (To Tony) You pulled a Shawshank.
This is a reference to the 1994 classic The Shawshank Redemption starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is convicted for murdering his wife and her lover, though he always claims he was innocent of the crimes. He ends up in the infamous Shawshank prison located in Maine.
Palmer: Did you follow the money?
When Tony clandestinely meets Palmer down in the NCIS forensic garage to pick his brains on the case, Palmer asks Tony if he followed the money. This is what the Watergate informant "Deep Throat" suggested to the investigative reporter Bob Woodward while on the trail of a series of illegal acts perpetrated by certain members of the Nixon administration. Deep Throat often met the reporter in an underground parking garage.
Tony comments on Gibbs' absence from NCIS 3 years ago as 'Your Mexican sabbatical. Intermission. It was a hiatus really.' The season 3 finale two part episode where Gibbs did leave to Mexico was called "Hiatus."
