Nina Foch, who has played Ducky's eccentric mother, Mrs. Victoria Mallard, passed away Friday, December 5, 2008 at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center from complications of a long-term blood disorder. Ms. Foch, who has had the continuing role of "Mother" to NCIS's Ducky, was 84 years old. In addition Ms. Foch taught two courses a week at USC as part of SC's Master's of fine arts program. Foch was delightful as Ducky's unconventional mom, and I will miss Mrs. Mallard's occasional appearances. I am guessing that the NCIS production will write her passing into the program.

    RIP
    Nina Foch.

That is so sad - she was really cool. Especially as Ducky's mother.
It will be interesting to see if they write it into the show. By the time it got into the script it will be into season 7 so it should be interesting if, after upcoming storyline where we find out more about Ducky's past, they mention it.

Also, I wonder if she will show up in any season 6 episodes that would have already been filmed.
Only time will tell, I guess.

Do you think we'll see "in memory of" at the end of an episode?

She was great, 84 years old.. o_o I will miss her appearances in the show. I don't think I have laughed so much at the show as to when she followed Ducky to work and set off a bunch of alarms.

It would be nice to see the show acknowledge her in some way.

Quick question: Here in the Amazing Race Game, it says Nina played Mrs. Vanessa Mallard, yet on IMdB, it says she played Mrs. Victoria Mallard, which is true?

Oh man She played a fantastic character, and she was perfect. She will be missed. I do hope they put some "In memory" thing at the end of maybe this week's? Or next week's new episode.

I do wonder if they might weave that into the storyline, like they did for Abby's boyfriend, Marty (the actor's name escapes me.) Though she hasn't been in the series lately that I can recall.

So Ducky lives alone now, but for all his complaints/wisecracks about her, he will no doubt be a little teary.

A wonderful actress who will be missed. She was in The Ten Commandments and Spartacus. NCIS was only a last stop in a decades long career. Bless her for working as long as she did.

As far as I know, Mrs. Mallard's first name was Vanessa.
