Quite the filler episode of NCIS. Outside of a few funny lines in the first five minutes, something the show has been doing for half a decade now, there was very little to write about here.

I mean, a jet pack. Really? Is that supposed to be good television? Or even realistic?

And then casting the insufferable Rena Sofer (Just Shoot Me, Blind Justice, Coupling) as Gibbs' latest rival was the last straw for me.

I hate to sound so negative as this wasn't THAT bad an episode, but it certainly was not the best way for TV's number one show to start the new year.moreless

  • I love Palmer.

Gosh, its about time! Palmer gets to do his fist lone autopsy? Gotta love him... I was excited to see how much he was used in this episode, because we haven't seen much of our favorite autopsy assistant this season. The Ton and Ziva diologue was great, there wasn't a lot but thats alright. All around it was an okay episode, not my favorite, i liked McGee being "ni charge" but they didnt really present the whole thing that well over all. Loved the lab scene with Abby, McGee and Palmer. And also, we wonder who this mysterious lawyer is??moreless

  • Finally, McGee is treated with some respect by the writers!

    "Perfect"
Previous seasons were marred by the abuse McGee suffers from Tony and Abby - so it's nice to have season 7 having Tim strike back, and come into his own.

Good job with the villainy lawyer too - her chemistry with Gibbs is promising. I do hope she dies a fiery death. So is this Bell character the new story arc?

I've always wondered something - Palmer is a regular on the show, but how come he never appears in the opening credits? I mean, he appears in more episodes than any NCIS head honcho, and they get credits while the music rolls, so what's up with that?

    Loved the squirrel autopsy.moreless

  • Funny and original! What more could you ask for?!

This was a really good episode of NCIS, in my opinion, as I thought it was extremely funny and filled with all of its great moments.

I loveed DiNozzo's 'I don't speak Canadian' quote, and I also really enjoyed M. Allison Hart, especially the way she kept saying Mr. Gibbs. I found that to be just asweome!

I also thought the case was innovative and fresh, and McGee's love of jetpacks was a great addition, and it was also quite funny!

I would highly recommend this episode, as it is filled with the great moments, great case and an awesome new character!

Keep it up, NCIS, as I have reqally been enjoying the last few episodes this season!moreless

  • A wonderful episode! Has the classic NCIS feel to it.

    "Perfect"
I'm a huge fan of NCIS but was extremely disappointed with the majority of season 6. Season 7 has been a vast improvement, and this episode, with Power Down, may be the best of the season! It goes right back to what made NCIS such an entertaining show - friendly, funny team interactions.

Everyone was getting along and I didn't once get the sense that the team members were annoyed with each other. Gibbs was once again relaxed and amused with his team. Tim was the adorable geek that I loved, none of the arrogance from season 6. Ziva actually got along with her teammates instead of constantly rolling her eyes and calling her partner an 'idiot' or 'annoying'. Tony was his competent self, not an over-the-top goofball. Jimmy was hilarious! And there was no Tiva, just the wonderful TEAM.

I can't get over how adorable Tim was in this episode! I also loved the ending scene - everyone else had gone home, but Tony was waiting for Gibbs. They were so relaxed around each other, and Tony's "icy blue eyes" comment was a real treat to the slashers out there.moreless

    ADD TRIVIA
    • TRIVIA: Palmer is absolutely correct: "écureuil" is the French for "squirrel" and "requin" is the French for "shark". However, his pronunciation is so off, it would be impossible to recognize. Of course, it doesn't help that the french sounds for "u", "euil" and "in" do not exist in English. Edit
    • TRIVIA: This is the first episode Ziva is seen wearing a Star of David since Saleem Ulman took it from her in Aliyah. It is unknown if she bought it for herself or if someone bought it for her. Edit
    • TRIVIA: The video about jet packs that McGee shows to Gibbs is narrated by McGee himself and is "a Thom E. Gemcity production." Thom E. Gemcity is of course McGee's pen name, first seen in the season 4 episode "Twisted Sister." Edit
  • Notes

    ADD NOTES
    • This is the third consecutive episode to feature an actor that has also been in the current season of Fox's TV series Bones. Ty Panitz, who plays Parker Booth, was in episode 9 as the younger boy who finds the body. Ralph Waite plays Booth's grandfather and in episode 10 he returns as Jackson Gibbs. Rena Sofer, who plays M. Allison Hart, plays Dr. Catherine Bryar, a love interest of Agent Booth. Edit

    • (Speaking to Mrs. Tillman) Tony: Just so we're clear, your marriage fell apart because of jet packs. Edit
    • Vanessa Tillman: Do you have any idea how annoying it can be to spend all your time with a, quote, brilliant man? Ziva: (glances at Tony) No, what is that like? Vanessa Tillman: He could never listen to an idea that wasn't his. So stubborn. Ziva: (now looking straight at Tony) Oh! I do know what that is like. Tony: (looking at Ziva) He ever get violent with you? Vanessa Tillman: No. Ziva: (looking at Tony) You ever get violent with him? Edit
    • Ziva: Slow drivers. Tony: Bad drivers. Ziva: What is so hard? You go as fast as possible, when something gets in your way, you turn. Tony: You're quoting Better Off Dead. I told you to watch that. Edit
  • Allusions

    ADD ALLUSIONS
    • When Palmer was performing the autopsy on the squirrel, he named it "Rocket J." That is the full name of "Rocky" Squirrel on The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Edit
    • Margaret Allison Hart is a name partner at a law firm named "Wolfram, Hart and Donowitz." This is an obvious reference to Wolfram & Hart, the law firm from the show Angel. Edit
