GOOF: Since the victim went overboard from the ship, everything that was attached to his body must have come from the ship, including the weights and chain. So an obvious avenue of investigation would have been to find out if there were weights missing from the ship, who had access to them, when it was noticed they were missing, and if the victim ever used the weights. Yet the team didn't look into any of this.
