  • Loved the part with the cat!

    9.0
Episode was definitely entertaining. Especially loved the whole bit with the cat. And the one line was priceless-"I didn't know you were afraid of a little pussy (pause) cat". Lol!
  • Tiva <3

    10
Loved the Tiva in this episode! Tony and Ziva falling asleep against eachother was a great moment
  • Comedy in all its glory.

    10
For a drama show this episode was higher in humor than anything else. I mean first the cat with Tim chasing and failing to catch. Gibbs stepping in and just yelling at it and motioning to get in the cage. Even animals know you don't mess with Gibbs.

But then the car stakeout and Ziva saying Tony smells but then saying she was kidding. Course our man-child farts to see if he smelled and she threatens him with death. But I think funniest aspect is the sweet, crazy Vanessa Mallard.

She just stirs up trouble without meaning to. I have high respect for my elders but she reminds me of my grandmother. Funny, fiesty and so hard to control. But you have to love her dearly

  • Full marks for comedy!

    10
This episode I felt was rather lacking in terms of the case, but the episode on a whole was made etxtremely delightful by the sublime efforts of Mrs. Vanessa Mallard.

Mrs. Mallard adds so much to the show in the two episodes that we have seen her so far, and I felt that she was so great in this one!

The storyline was average, but it certainly was a huge improvement over the previous episode, however, I still feel that this episode needed some work.

As I mentioned, this is one of the funniest episodes ever, and I wish there was more of Vanessa Mallard as she is a class act!

I recommend this episode to those with a funny bone, but otherwise, there have been better.moreless
  • Mrs Mallad is in the house!!!!

    9.5
yet another brilliant episode of NCIS (is there any other kind????) it was funny, entertaining, interesting and had suspense!

the NCIS team has to find a navy person's murderer, with the murder happening at the victims home, nearly perfectly framing her if not for Abby the forensic scientist and her brilliance. :)

we are all led to believe that this guy called roca is the murderer but at the end (thanks to Gibbs' brilliance) we find out it was her command officer. mrs mallad makes another appearance in this episode, providing vital humour various parts of the episode, all contributing to the overall rating of the episode. the only reason i didnt score it a 10 is because of my intense hatred of anything tiva (tony/ziva) related. her sleeping on his shoulder... equals BAD MOMENT.

    overwise brilliant.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (8)

    • TRIVIA: When we see the team looking for the missing USB device, one shot shows of a cat with green eyes. This is an anime character from Trigun named Kuroneko. Kuroneko means "Black Cat" in English.

    • GOOF: We see a woman punching a few keys on the keyboard, this in turn shows a multi-color highlight over the letters. In this shot we see it go next to a small box ending on "F". In the very next frame, we see it not only ending on the "G", but the box is overlapping the highlight.

    • GOOF: At first, McGee improbably didn't know, as a federal agent, that foreign diplomats couldn't be questioned; but later knew the minutia that a car with diplomatic plates is considered foreign soil, just like the embassy.

    • TRIVIA: We learn from Ducky's mother that he has no children.

    • GOOF: When Gibbs shows where the bullet has impacted, the book he indicates is in a normal position on the bookshelf; however, when he pulls it out it is upside down (see the position of the ISBN bar code and the highlighted initial on the back of the book). When he starts to browse looking for the bullet, he holds it in a normal position again (again see the highlighted initial which is now where it should be: top left).

    • TRIVIA: In the scene where Gibbs and the team are tossing the cryptographer's apartment, we see a shot of Tony attaching a peg of some description to the back of McGee's jacket. This is actually a reference to an on-set joke between the cast members. The practical joke is known to them as "tagging", where one cast member attaches a peg or clip to another's costume. The challenge is then for the rest of the cast to attach as many as possible until the victim notices.

Lauren Holly "complains" in an interview of the joke having been done to her in one of the very first scenes she shot.

    • TRIVIA: Also, in the same scene as the one described below, when the shot changes to show the bed from far-away, Kyogre and several of the border plushies (such as the pink plushie up near the top) are taken away.

    • TRIVIA: When Tony & Ziva are searching the bedroom near the beginning, several anime plushies can be seen on the pillow. Some of these include Jaken and Miroku from the series Inuyasha, Roy Mustang from FullMetal Alchemist, and Kyogre from Pokémon.

  • QUOTES (30)

    • Tony: You were not planning on sleeping, were you?
Ziva: Not unless you're planning on taking a shower anytime soon.

    • Tony: When you said you were a screamer, you did mean...
      Ziva: I did.

    • (After Ziva tells Tony she's a screamer)
      Tony (phone rings): Answer it.
Ziva: Well what do you want me to say?
Tony: I don't know, scream something.

    • Tony: I wish I had a neighbor like that. The old bat that lives next to me complains every time I bring a date home. Wanna know why?
Ziva: Shouting out "no means no!"
Tony: Hah, that was a good one but not even close.
Ziva: I was actually kidding. (acting coyly) I have the same problem at my place, Tony.
Tony: Really? You have a surround sound system, too?
Ziva: No. I'm what you Americans like to call a screamer, yes? (Tony just stares at her speechlessly)

    • Abby: Mrs. Mallard would you like to see my mass spectrometer?
Mrs. Mallard: What a charming young lady. Of course I would, my dear. What is a mass speedometer? Does it move very fast?

    • (Gibbs whacks Tony on the back of the head.)
      Tony: What was that for?
      Gibbs: Blackmailing your partner.

    • (Ziva crashed into a suspects car to stop them from getting to the airport and asked Tony to take the blame.)
Gibbs: (To Tony and Ziva) Roca is at the damn airport!
Tony: Yeah, that's my fault Boss. I take full responsibility... I shouldn't have let Ziva drive.

    • (McGee sits up)
      Abby: You're still dead McGee.

    • Tony: (to the kitty, and he is acting all excited) Who found your favorite carrot toy?!

    • Gibbs: Looks like they're putting decoder rings in cereal boxes again. (smiles at his own joke, then notices the blank looks on the other's faces) What?
Tony: Little before our time, Boss.

    • Tony: That's why I never had pets.
Ziva: You've never had any pets?
Tony: Well, I had Sea Monkeys once.
      Ziva: What's a Sea Monkey?
Tony: Basically, brine shrimps swimming around in green water. I know, I thought the same thing.
      Ziva: What happened to them?
Tony: My mother got their sea castle confused with her Mint Julip.

    • Mrs. Mallard: You might find this hard to believe, but Donald was the cutest child. He had long curly blond hair. Everybody thought he was a girl until he was twelve, when his voice changed.
Ducky: Mr. Palmer, will you chain my mother to the chair while I tell Agent Gibbs what I've found.

    • Tony: Relax Ziva David. We're dealing with a Naval Officer, not Doctor Evil.

    • McGee: I'm allergic to cats.
Tony: Oh, I'm sorry. I had no idea. Try holding your breath.

    • Tony (looking at McGee asleep on the table): Do you have any superglue Abbs?
(Gibbs enters room and smacks Tony on the head)
Gibbs: What did I tell you about that DiNozzo?
Tony: That the skin might not grow back?!

    • Gibbs: (telling McGee to come to the Pentagon with him) I need you to translate for me.
Tony: He needs you to 'speak the geek' for him, McGee!

    • Abby: (to Ziva) Rough night?
Ziva: Is there any other kind with Gibbs?
Abby: It could be worse... It could be Saturday...
      Ziva: It is Saturday, Abby.
Abby: See! It just got worse. Thanks.

    • Gibbs: DiNozzo, if it was easy I would send Jo the Janitor!

    • (Ziva and Tony on observation in the car. Ziva offers Tony piano lessons. Thinking he is asleep she is about to spill water in his lap.)
Tony: Do it and die, Amadeus!!

    • Ziva: I'll do anything.
      Tony: Anything?
      Gibbs: Hey! Button your shirt!
Tony: She got into my space.

    • Ziva: What's the matter Tony? Afraid of a little pussy.... cat?

    • Ziva: Your mother drank your Sea Monkeys?
      Tony: It was the '70s.
      Gibbs: Explains a lot.

    • Abby: I said bang, McGee.
      McGee: Bang.

    • Tony: Probie! It's about time! I'm starving like Lee Marvin.

    • Ziva: This women is a total turd.
(Tony shoots a blank stare at her)
      Ziva: A geek. Yes?
      Tony: The term is nerd.

    • Tony: I don't believe this.
Ziva: Well, it appears she is telling the truth.
Tony: No, I mean about her having a boyfriend... come on!

    • Gibbs: Yeah, I know what it is. It's one of those memory doo-da things for the computer.

    • Abby: Stop being so Palmer, Jimmy.

    • Tony: You really think I smell?
      Ziva: I was kidding.
      (Tony farts)
      Tony: How about now?
      (Ziva hits him)
Ziva: You are disgusting, if you do that again I will shoot you. Got it?

    • Ziva (referring to food): Oh God, it smells like it's been here for a month.
McGee: Exactly why I don't have a roomate.
Gibbs: Roomates are never a good idea.
McGee: Did you ever have a roomate boss?
Gibbs: Three McGee. They're called wives.

  • ALLUSIONS (4)

    • Gibbs: Looks like they're putting Decoder Rings in cereal boxes again.

This is a reference to a very popular toy in the early to mid 20th century that was a prize in every box of certain cereals. The Decoder Ring would allow you to decipher codes given to them from radio programs.

    • (after Ziva sums up the plot)
Tony: You could just rent No Way Out.

This is a reference to a 1987 movie staring Kevin Costner and Gene Hackman. In the movie, a navy officer, posted at the Pentagon, begins an affair with the Secretary Of Defense's mistress. When she is found dead, he is assigned to the case of finding the killer, believed to be a KGB mole.

    • Tony: Relax Ziva David. We're dealing with a Naval Officer, not Doctor Evil.

This is a reference to a popular comedy movie Austin Powers starring Mike Myers. Doctor Evil is one of many characters that Myers plays in that movie.

    • Tony (to Ziva): I suppose you'd rather be with Webelos McGee.

As an insult, this cuts two ways. On the one hand, Webelos is the highest rank in the Cub Scouts, which puts McGee at the top of the junior ranks. On the other, a Webelos is still short of joining the "real" Boy Scouts, and thus subordinate to the lowest Scout rank, Tenderfoot. Originally, the consonants in Webelos stood for the original Cub Scout rank progression of Wolf, Bear, Lion, Scout. When the Lion rank was discontinued in 1967, a new "bacronym" was created: We Be Loyal Scouts. The rank is rather obscure, indicating that DiNozzo (and the writer doing his dialogue) were probably longtime Scouts.
