Sorry, but the new character just doesn't do it for me. She didn't fit in and the way she was forced down our throats (like that was going to help) only made me like her less. She reminded me of that horrible Rachel Nichols' character they brought in on CM. Wrong move, CBS!

I loved "she pulled a Palmer"! I am actually looking forward to this chick!

I think the episode should have been titled Gut Clench instead, because that is what mine did the entire episode. Just plain horrible. TPTB actually thought we'd like the new character so much they hired her as a regular before seeing how fans felt?! Talk about stupid. The new character sucks. She is more annoying than Kate. And for those who keep watching NCIS out of some kind of misguided loyalty, even though you no longer like it, keep this in mind-TPTB only care about ratings, not what fans like or don't like. As long as you continue to watch, TPTB will do whatever they please. The only way to make them listen is NOT to watch. NCIS will continue to go downhill as long as people continue to watch the show even if they no longer like it.

It's one thing to sit on the floor and listen to music in your private office, completely another in a public one. I don't know of a single government agency that would permit on of their employees to do so. It presents an unprofessional appearance to the public.

I can understand wanting Bishop to be different from Ziva. But I think they are trying too hard. It would make more sense to reveal her quirks slowly, not all at once. Because they way they did it in this episode make her appear kooky rather than quirky.

The NSA and NCIS buildings Bishop was in are not open to the public and its a TV show and quirky is a synonym of kooky.

Those buildings may not be public, but they do have professional standards. My parents were both military. Despite being long time fans, they were VERY surprised at that quirk.

NCIS may not wear uniforms, and it employs civilians, but it is, at heart a military organization. Doing what Bishop was doing, in a public area (area shared with co-workers), is in NO way professional.

I have different definition of quirk. A quirk is a small, odd habit; i.e questionable musical taste, or the habit of not wearing socks.

I like the new Siva - I even could imagine her being even better funnier and cooler than the old siva....there...I said it...

You can't spell the old character's name despite it being all over the web.

I thought she was funny, and different. I can see why they wanted her and Ziva to be different in every way possible. It was one episode people, pull it together, NCIS is not "going down the tubes" or anything as most of you seem to say. It is evolving just as all shows must. When a character leaves, you have to realize that they are going to put a lot of work into the new character and put even more work into who will play this character. This was not an easy decision for them, and I know it wasn't easy for Cote to leave either. Bishop is going to change as the season goes on. She can't be a lone wolf like this AND be on the team. This is another character development thing, trust me, NCIS is not going to let their #1 ratings spot slip. And to the guy below who said they are trying to destroy the show, you're wrong. Who would even want that?? Not even the people that don't like Bishop would want that to happen! Just give it time, that's all I am sayin'. I will say that December 10th episode looks good with Gibb's ex-wife... Just keep watchin' you'll see.

Rubbish. That's right. The new girl is completely unrealistic. And before you Bishop-lovers get your knickers in a twist, one of NCIS' strong points in the past has been the creation of deep, realistic, relatable, and therefore, likeable, characters. Sure, it has only been one episode, and we don't really know her yet, but since when does Gibbs take to people so quickly? That was a bit uncharacteristic. We don't need to watch NCIS anymore, because I know what every episode will look like from here:
1. New case
2. Bishop sits on the floor and listens to music, shuffling her papers around
3. Gibbs, Tony, and McGee bumble around, waiting for her to solve it (we don't really need Abby or Ducky anymore, or NCIS for that matter. Let's just have NSA analysts do it - they can solve the case AND tackle the bad guys)
4. They all go out and get the bad guy (or just watch Bishop do it)
That's exciting! I can't wait.

Perfect review and spot on.

You are forgetting how quickly Gibbs 'took to' Kate in season 1.

New character sucked, just as I thought. Way to go GG. I am starting to wonder if he is purposely trying to ruin NCIS, as all his decisions this year have been horrible!

I liked Emily's character on "The Bridge" better than this, when she was drunk all the time, which was 15mins max for the entire season.

This was almost like a flashback to the beginning of S3, only substitute the Sec Nav for Jenny Shepard, and Bishop for Ziva. I wasn't all THAT impressed by Ziva, to be honest. Bishop doesn't impress me at all.

show would have been soooooooooooooooooooo much better without the new female. It was like they were Slamming her Down our Throats. She often acted like she was the boss & not Gibbs
I was totally sick of it.

I may watch a few times - BUT not if anything like this. But since I already have a bad taste in my mouth after watching this show with her in it - I doubt if I like it at all.

So Sorry to See NCIS go down so much in just 1 show.

Show is NOT better than ever. It now sucks. New agent made it even worse. You are in the minority, judging by the number of people who signed the petition to get Cote back this week alone and the number of negative reviews for NCIS in general since October. And I frankly don't believe in the opinion of someone who has only started reviewing episodes this season and given every single one of them (even when most of them were lousy) a 10!

just one episode... You cannot judge her yet... Give her a real chance... you cannot compare 8 years with 01 episode.

I agree. But even Not comparing with Ziva - this new female just doesn't 'have it'

I felt like they were slamming her down our throats. became very irritating seeing her 'take over' instead of Gibbs being the leader.

she just doesn't have that 'ump' that Ziva had.

she didn't have much of anything - even when you don't think of ziva.

Good response! People keep missing Ziva and they won't see the reality in from t of them: NCIS is still there, the family just has changed a little. In my opinion, I like her. She's fresh and new

to be honest. the ads with the 'new' female Does Not make me Want to watch it.
But I will and will return to make my comments.

I'm surprised it took them this long to bring in a permanent team member. There is at least SOME logic in the choice. At least Bishop came from an American intelligence agency, rather than a foreign one. Personally, I would have preferred them to not have a fourth team member.

So much for GG's promise not to replace Ziva! Another reason NOT to watch NCIS!

Who cares. I don't want a replacement for Ziva-I want Ziva back. The show sucks without her! Won't be surprised if most fans hate her character, since GG created it and keeps raving about how great she is. He raved how great Samantha Ryan was and most fans detested her!

I happen to agree with the OP. The show sucks without Ziva. And if you actually read ALL the official statements, you would have realized that Cote did NOT want to leave. She may have wanted some time off but did not want to quit entirely. TPTB could have made her character a recurring one, so that she could come back occasionally, but instead they basically said all in or out. I actually was considering not watching NCIS anymore before Cote left, as GG's writing and directing haven't been very good. The character of Ziva was the ONLY reason I was still watching. And anyone who continues to watch a show because they want to show they are a fan are not helping-it shows they agree with how the show is being run. And I don't.
