Episode Summary

Where My Third Nepal is Sheriff
Eric and Ned are at the airport about to leave for a vacation in Nepal when Eric timidly backs out of the trip. At the muffin shop, Amanda is preparing to take the weekend off to spend with her visiting old friend Wendy. Stacey petulantly asks why competent employee Cynthia is being put in charge of the shop instead of her and Amanda mollifies her by saying she can be boss, with a wink to Cynthia. Amanda is eager for Wendy to meet her husband and sings his praises, but when she gets home she finds Eric an emotional wreck, lying on the couch covered with food and endlessly replaying a videotape of Ned taunting him from Nepal. Meanwhile Stacey runs off Cynthia with her petty bossiness and she and the hapless Chazz wreak havoc on the shop, ending up with a couple of feet of standing water on the floor.moreless

  • Very funny episode starring Megan Mullally.

Oh, I don't think I've ever laughed as much as I did when I watched this episode. Megan Mullally as Wendy was one of the funniest things I'd seen in a long time. I regularly watch Ned & Stacey, but it isn't usually funny. This episode is a jem among stones. Such comedy value. Every storyline within it is funny, from Stacey flooding the muffin shop, to Ned "going to Nepal", to Eric embarassing Amanda in front of Wendy.

Megan Mullally guest stars as Wendy. This automatically gives it some comedy value, as she's a brilliant comedic actress. Debra Messing, who later went on to play Grace Adler in Will & Grace, in which Megan Mullally plays Karen Walker, never starred in a scene with her talented future co-starmoreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (0)

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Wendy: Say, erm, what did he mean by nearly drowning on the floor of the muffin shop?
Amanda: Erm, that's just his way of, erm.... STACEY!!

    • Ned (to Eric): You know, this time tomorrow, we're gonna be in beautiful Nepal! The jewel...of Nepal! Nepal!

    • Chazz: This lady says her coffee's cold.
Stacey (harried): Is the, is the machine plugged in?
      Chazz: No, of course not.
      Stacey: Chazz! Plug it in!
Chazz: Oh! (desperately) There are too many prongs!
Stacey: Chazz, use your common sense! Bend one back!

  • NOTES (3)

    • End credit sequence: A slightly longer version of Ned singing his "Rico is a chicken" song to the tune of the old folk tune "Blue Tailed Fly (Jimmy Crack Corn)" and droning sitar accompaniment. As noted, this was the final episode broadcast by the Fox network, so it was not a very memorable way to go out.

    • This was the last episode broadcast by the Fox network before the show's cancellation. The remaining shows were seen in some foreign markets including Australia and New Zealand, if my information is correct. American audiences had to wait until the USA Network started showing the series Monday through Friday as part of its daytime comedy lineup, then they were seen in their regular rotation.

    • Megan Mullally (Wendy) guest stars on this episode with her future co-star on "Will & Grace," Debra Messing (Stacey). Don't look for an early version of her character Karen, though. Mullally's role here is basically as a "straight man" for Eric (Greg Germann) and Amanda (Nadia Dajani). Mullally and Messing are not in any scenes together.
