AIRED:
Class 2-A sets up a "test of courage" where Negi has to go to the old campus elementary school at night and tie a ribbon around the science room skeleton. But, it's really a "Love-Love Kiss Event" for the girls as they compete (five teams of two) to find Negi. Whoever kisses him first wins.moreless

    • TRIVIA (1)

      • In the end credits, Kaede Nagase (#20) was typed as being voiced by Caitlin Glass when it should be typed as being voiced by Clarine Harp.

    • QUOTES (1)

    • NOTES (2)

      • Manga Corollary: Mahou Sensei Negima, Chapters 35-37
In the manga, the scenario of the competition was completely different:

        1) Chisame and Ayaka were paired up on finding Negi, instead of Chizuru and Ayaka.

        2) It took place in the Inn they stayed at during their trip to Kyoto, instead of an old building. The goal was that the girls have to find Negi and kiss him without getting caught by the senseis for violating curfew.

        3) Negi was trying to write his name properly in Japanese on Setsuna's talisman, but he screws up four times, before getting it right. The fifth one was to be his substitute while he went out, but the other ones activated as well.

        4) Chamo was not only in on the event in the manga version, but was also one of the characters behind it, as he was using the event in attempt to make some Pactio cards that he could sell on the black market.

        5) Yue was able to take care of one of the Negi clones by herself (instead of needing Asuna to stop it) after she accidentally turned on a TV screen screen and discovered the other Negi clones wooing the other teams in the competition.

        6) The event doesn't end in absolute failure in the manga. Instead, after all the Negi clones blow up, the real Negi arrives and confronts Nodoka and Yue, the only team left standing. During this confrontation, Yue trips Nodoka, causing her to kiss on the lips. The end result: Nodoka not only wins the contest, but she also becomes the second student to make a Pactio with Negi.

      • Funimation Latin Translation: Love and a Cough are Not Kept Secret.

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Ayaka's personality somewhat mirrors that of Sana Kurata's in Kodocha, due to her hastiness in this episode. Coincidentally, they are both voice acted by Laura Bailey.
