The classroom where Negi and his class resides resembles that of a University lecture hall, instead of a standard middle school classroom.
During Negi and Asuna's first confrontations together, instead of Asuna's clothes being blown off by Negi, he conjures a spell that hits them both on the heads by falling pots and pans.
Episode titles
Each title in the Negima!? series is a small quote penned by one of the characters. The first one's from Negi.
The plot at the beginning of the episode, nearly resembles the storyline of Volume #1 in the manga, where Negi graduates at his Wizardry School and figures out what is his profession.
Blackboard
As Negi does his introduction and conversations at class, different messages have been scribbled on the blackboard. This is a typical gimmick of director Akiyuki Shinbo, who also did this on Pani Poni Dash.
(After surviving the stampede of girls)
Negi: A-are you okay, Chamo?
Chamo: I thought I was going to die out there, Negi! Goodness, Japan's one hell of a scary place! (Notices something falling in front of him) What's this?
Negi: Eeeeh?! Chamo is that your front tooth?!
(All the girls are talking about the dracula incident)
Kuu Fei: Targeting young defenseless girls won't slide past me! I, Kuu Laozi, will give them the blow of justice, aru!
(Japanese version)
Setsuna: Let's go. You'll be late otherwise, Ojou-sama.
Konoka: But shouldn't we .. (wake up Asuna)
Setsuna: Those who are dead cannot hold on to their possessions.
Konoka: That's not quite the right thing to say.
Funimation Cast Changes
Since Randy Tallman passed away, R. Bruce Elliot now voices Dean Konoe.
Christopher R. Sabat now narrates the series.
Brittney Karbowski voices Anya.
Cherami Leigh replaces Dana Schultes and voices Setsuna.
Also known as: Eh? Even if you suddenly say I have 31 people!
Setsuna and Konoka talk to each other and hang out together a lot more than in season one.
Another Character Change
In this season another big change is that Asuna and Ayaka (class rep) don't argue with each other as much over small things as they did in the previous season.
Nodoka and Yue go through changes as well. In the manga and 1st season Nodoka has purple hair. In this season she has blue hair.
In the 1st season and Manga, Yue's hair is blue but in this season her hair is purple but they both keep their original personalities.
Character changes
Chamo is already Negi's familiar.
Setsuna Sakurazaki is now a major character in the series.
The busty nurse Miyamoto does not appear.
Takamichi Takahata can perform some magic.
With the remake, Asuna no longer has heterochromia, or different colored eyes.
Takamichi Takahata's character design nearly resembles Kamon Nandaba of FLCL. Coincidentally, the studio Gainax is behind the creation of both this version of Negima! (in early production) and FLCL.
One of the chalkboard scribbles has an equation with two pointy shapes plus a head. The shapes resemble Chiyo Mihama's hair in the schoolgirl anime, Azumanga Daioh as a subtle joke from the same director.
