- Takamichi Takahata's character design nearly resembles Kamon Nandaba of FLCL. Coincidentally, the studio Gainax is behind the creation of both this version of Negima! (in early production) and FLCL.

- One of the chalkboard scribbles has an equation with two pointy shapes plus a head. The shapes resemble Chiyo Mihama's hair in the schoolgirl anime, Azumanga Daioh as a subtle joke from the same director.
