There's a slight goof at the end of the episode. When Asuka is yelling at Shinji and then slaps him, he still drops his head as if he was hit. This is physically impossible (unless he flinched) since the image of Asuka was just a hologram.
Kaji: You're enduring an unrequited love. Ritsuko: Really? You're so very sure, are you? Kaji: (touches Ritsuko's face with his finger, causing her to turn towards him) A woman... with a mole like a tear on her cheek is destined to a life full of heartache and sorrow.
(Asuka and Shinji arguing over their EVAs' communicators after defeating the Angel) Asuka: What the hell were you doing staying up all night?! Shinji: Devising the strategy for today's battle! Asuka: Liar! I know you tried to kiss me while I was asleep! Shinji: You cheat! You were awake?! Asuka: Oh God, I just meant that as a joke! Did you really try to?! Shinji: No, I stopped... Asuka: PERVERT! FIEND! IDIOT! *slap* I can't believe you! Shinji: Well you were the one sleepwalking and talking about your mother! Fuyutsuki: (listening to the whole argument) They've embarrassed us again...
The name of the episode is the same name as the song that plays while Eva units 01 and 02 fight the angel.
The graphics for the show seem to improve during this episode.
Japanese Title: 「瞬間、心、重ねて」- ("Shunkan, Kokoro, Kasanete") - "With One Accord In A Flash"
This is the only episode where the EVAs operate at full power without their umbilical cables, meaning only 68 seconds of power instead of the usual 5 minutes.
While Shinji and Asuka are syncronizing with Toji, Kensuke, and Hikari over, notice that Asuka rises first before Shinji makes a headplant, meaning she is the one making all the mistakes, not Shinji.
In the manga comic, Shinji does not try to kiss Asuka. Instead, Asuka tells Shinji that she has no father and was conceived in a test tube. In the end, Shinji and Asuka fall asleep; that's why they're in a bundle.
The Seventh Angel that appears in this episode is called Israfel, Angel of Music. More information.
Product Replacement Asuka's boxes are labeled DHU, whose logo is done in the same format as the DHL shipping company. By 1995, when the series was first aired, DHL (an acronym for the founders Adrian, Dalsey, Larry Hillblom and Robert Lynn) had secured a large presence in Asia and especially in Japan.
