Kaji makes a trip to Kyoto for a secret meeting, as Asuka goes out on a blind date and Shinji and Rei stay after class to clean up. The next day Shinji visits the grave of his mother with Gendō, the first time in 3 years. Misato, Ritsuko and Kaji attend the wedding of a friend and reminisce about their past, while Asuka and Shinji find something to pass the time.moreless

    This episode was great! I liked Kaji in this episode. So, we got to know taht he was kinda investigating NERV for something. And it seems he foud out that the guys who choose the Children that is EVA pilots, Merduk Institute, aren't really real... or something like that. It seems at least taht most of it is not real. So... that leave me to wonder who really chooses the Children. And for what purpose is it really? When it's so secretive like that, it has to be a deeper purpose... Anyway, this episode also had some good romance moments. Like when Kaji kissed Misato. And when Shinji and Asuka kissed. That was really funny; Shinji almost got sufficated because Asuka were holding his nose clsoed as they kissed. Anyway, it was cool!

    Kaji is found collecting information from an unknown acquaintence about NERV. It's been a long time since Kaji and Misato were together, and decided to party, along with Ritsuko. Though after Misato puked, they decided to go home, and along the way, Misato revealed her true feelings towards Kaji. It seems like Kaji reminded Misato of her own father she hated so much, and was the main reason for her dumping him. The episode ends with Kaji opening up a secured room containing Adam, the first angel nailed to a cross with a spear pierced through its chest.

    I thought Misato's feelings for Kaji was unique in that she distanced herself from him because she reminded him of a person she hated. What's even more interesting is what happened back at home. Asuka and Shinji who were both bored to death, decided to kill time by kissing. It was at this point that I realized Neon Genesis was beyond what I had thought, and that was a generic mecha based show where all the good guys serve for justice. But it doens't seem like that.moreless
