With Shinji surpassing an unbelievable rate of synchronization, he was also absorbed by the EVA unit. In the mean time, everyone, especially Misato, begin to start loosing hope that Shinji will decide to come out, especially after the incident with EVA 04. The spirit of EVA 01 starts engaging in a conversation with Shinji through psychological imagery and words. In the end, Shinji does decide to come out of the monster. Misato was the first one to welcome him as she releases a river of tears thanking for his safety and health.

Neon Genesis is more known for changing the views of life for many people rather than its anticlimatic ending, unique setting and unique use of mechas. What the entire series does is get you attached with the characters, and then explaining in detail why these characters do what they do, why they do it, or if they should continue doing it? This is only one of many situations where we enter the mental realm of the characters and see how they think of the world through their eyes.moreless
