Do you think Nero was maybe too rough on Archie? I know, the show mirrors the books, and Nero was supposed to have a gruff nature, but considering Wolfe hardly went outside, he could stand to be a little more grateful!

He was grateful, he just didn't know how to express it or was uncomfortable expressing it.

It was actually explored in the Christmas episode and again in Murder a la carte (I think that's the episode name) that Wolfe deeply cared for Archie and Fritz. He just didn't express it every day. He seemed a little anti-social, but mostly he just acted how he felt and told the truth instead of mustering happiness he didn't feel or lying to make someone feel better. Of course not counting when he lied to achieve a job's objective.
