Dance Fever is an American variety game show on ABC Family, based on the musical variety show of the same name in the 1970s. Dance Fever pits amateur dancers against each other as they boogie, salsa, waltz, and shimmy their way to the top. The show is judged by a celebrity panel, consisting of Carmen Electra, Jamie King, and MC Hammer, who decide who continues and who is out after each dance challenge. With a $100,000 prize in play, the contestants work hard, and dance harder, to make it through and keep their chances alive of winning it all. Things get interesting when they are faced with dance styles that they are unfamiliar and/or uncomfortable with. But they deal with the discomfort and give it their all for their short time on stage, leading to reviews calling the performances brilliantâespecially considering that the contests are all amateurs. Dance Fever is a modern-day revival of the earlier show and creator Merv Griffin was just as successful this time as last.moreless

Like the CBS Family Feud Challenge, this game show was an hour long & divided into two parts. PART 1 9 contestants competed. They were given a multiple-choice question & on their keypad, had to punch the correct answer as quickly as possible. The quicker you punched, the higher the score. After 5 questions, the top 6 moved on. Then another round was played the same way & the top 3 went on to Part 2 (and won a small prize). PART 2 In the television version, it took 12 wedges (2 of the 6 colors) to win. Player 1 started round 1 by choosing one of 6 categories & trying to answer it correctly for the wedge. If incorrect, the opponents can buzz in & steal that wedge. Then Player 2 got a turn followed by Player 3. Each player had two turns to play. Rounds 2 & 3 had specialty categories as well as a WIld Card. Play's like round 1, Player 2 started round 2 & Player 3 started Round 3. Also in that round are BONUS QUESTION! Whoever chose it & either answered corectly or an opponent buzzed in & correct, the player (or opponent) got to answer a bonus question for $100 & any color wedge. And like the DAILY DOUBLE, it was for that player only. The 4th round started with a toss-up. Whoever answered the toss-up got control & chose a category to fill their pie. If the control player missed, the opponents can steal that wedge (or get control if they already have that color). If all missed, another toss-up is asked. The first person who covers all 12 wedges (6 in each color) or came the closest if time expires (ala Make The Grade won the game & $500! BONUS: The winning contestant had 45 seconds to answer 6 questions for each color. Each color paid $100 & all 6 colors paid $1,000 + a trip!moreless

Rush’d is ABC Family’s first online reality tv show, following the six finalists of the accompanying Virtual Rush 10 Week Challenge that aired along with the first 10 episodes of ABC Family’s Greek. Since Greek follows a group of college students at the fictional Cypress-Rhodes University who are involved in the Greek system, the network launched the online social network virtualrush.com. Through this network, participants could enter the challenges after “joining” the fraternity or sorority they best identified with, which usually involved submitting videos of their rush activities, and others voted on the entries to choose the finalists. Rush’d chronicles the six finalists as they go to L.A. to audition for a walk-on role in Greek. The contestants travel from their own campuses and engage in a unique event where viewers of a show have become a part of it through a social network. Rush’d explores each one’s hometown, watches them at a photoshoot, and auditioning for the show. The virtual rush community, created through the website, then chooses a winner.moreless

Back on Campus is a reality television series on ABC Family in which four students at Drexel University are in for a very, very unique college experience. Their parents are going to be joining them, back on campus, for a whole semester! Now, as their childrenâs roommates, the parents live, learn, and study with their kids. Each parent had their own reason for deciding to attend Drexel University for a semester: Damaris Phillips chose motherhood over college and wants to see what she was missing; Kevin Seborg feels far away from his daughter and wants to reconnect with her before it is too late; Phil Marino, Sr. is nostalgic for his own days of partying and good-times; and Charlene Ciccarone is just looking for some fun. But regardless of why they decided to come live with their kids at college, these parents are back on campus and things are going to get wild as they live it up. Back on Campus asks what happens when two generations come together at a time when they are usually separated for good, and whether it is taking family too far to share a whole semester of oneâs everything.moreless
