The Flintstones

ABC (ended 2001)

The Flintstones was a parody on modern suburban life, set in the Stone Age. The characters in the cartoon series all behaved and spoke in a contemporary manner, though they lived in the prehistoric city of Bedrock. Fred worked as operator of a dinosaur-powered crane at Rock Hard & Quarry Cave Construction Co. (slogan: "Own Your Own Cave and Be Secure"). Around their split-level cave the Flintstones enjoyed such conveniences as Wilma's Stoneway piano, a hi-fi on which Fred could play his "rock" music (it consisted of a turntable and a bird with a long beak to serve as a needle), a vacuum cleaner (a baby elephant with a long trunk), and an automatic garbage disposal unit (a famished buzzard stashed under the sink). Their car, which sported tail fins, also came equipped with steamroller wheels--to smooth out the rocky road. Then one day in 1963 they were blessed with a baby daughter, whom they named Pebbles. Not to be outdone, their neighbors the Rubbles adopted an orphan boy named Bamm Bamm. (The two kids later had a Saturday morning cartoon series of their own, Pebbles and Bamm Bamm.) The Flintstones was always as much adult satire as children's fun. In many respects it resembled Jackie Gleason's popular Honeymooners, especially in the relationships of the principals. A wide range of caricatures passed through the stories: Lollobrickida, a pretty cook; Ann-Margrock, whose voice was supplied by Ann-Margret; attorney Perry Masonry (he never lost a case); Ed Sullystone, a TV host; Eppy Brianstone, a teenage impresario; and Weirdly and Creepella Gruesome, the strange couple who with their son Goblin moved into a cave nearby (this was a parody on The Addams Family and The Munsters, then popular). The Gruesomes thought that they were normal, and everyone else in Bedrock was odd. The Flintstones and its spin-offs had a highly successful run on Saturday mornings--on NBC from January 1967-September 1970, on CBS from September 1972-January 1974, back on NBC from February 1979-September 1984, and on ABC with The Flintstone Kids from September 1986-September 1989. This series has also many movies and specials (about 10 specials). Some of them are:"A Flintstones Christmas Carol", a flintstones version of the famous Charles Dickens book, "A Flintstones Christmas" where Fred replaces Santa Claus (Pebbles and Bamm Bamm are speaking now), "I Yabba Dabba Do" where Pebbles and Bamm Bamm are grown up and get married, and "Holly-Rock-a-bye Baby" where Pebbles gives birth.moreless

Popular film and television star Damon Wayans stars as Michael Kyle, a loving husband and modern-day patriarch who rules his household with a unique and distinct parenting style. As he teaches his three children some of life's lessons, he does so with his own brand of wisdom, discipline and humor.

Now that Jr. and his girlfriend, Vanessa, are parents of a baby boy, Michael and his loving wife, Jay, are proud but young grandparents, and are adjusting to their new roles. Not only are they trying to help their son become a responsible father, but they want to help the teenaged couple make some important decisions in their lives. They all seem to have their own opinion when it comes to answering such questions like: Should the new parents continue to live in the Kyle garage? Should they get engaged or married? Will the new baby make Jr., who is terrified in his role as a new dad, act any smarter?

While trying to turn his son into a man, Michael begins to look at where his own life has taken him and wonders if he should make some changes. Jay, who also starts to question her purpose in life, pursues her educational goals and, along the way, decides to open a restaurant. Meanwhile, oldest daughter Claire's relationship with Tony, the odd and oddly endearing bible thumper, has endured. Claire is now a high school senior and is more than ready to do all the things that come along with that special time in life.

Little Kady feels a bit threatened by the new baby's presence, and her family is there to help her get over any insecurities. She continues her friendship with the young piano virtuoso, Franklin, who often complicates Michael's life. The boy sensed an opening in the family with Jr.'s impending graduation into adulthood, and Franklin is still trying to weasel his way into becoming the "good new son."

Michael can only hope his parental advice, mixed with witty humor, will steer his children to act responsibly. Through it all, Jr., Claire and Kady know they can turn to their father when they need his guidance. Sometimes it seems as though, even without their asking, Dad knows ahead of time what they might need, and he's only too happy to provide direction -- often to their chagrin.

Sabrina the Teenage Witch: The Complete Animated Series

The show was made in 1999. It is the spin-off to Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, the sitcom. This cartoon was completely different from the show itself. It featured our main character Sabrina except as a 12 year-old in Jr. High School just developing her powers. Her best friends are Chloe Flan and Harvey Dwight Kinkle. Chloe is the only mortal that knows that Sabrina is a witch, and Harvey is still Sabrina's secret crush. Together they have many adventures. Her rival is Gem Stone, the equivalent of Libby Chessler from the original show, and is incredibly rich. She still has the same aunts: Hilda and Zelda Spellman except they are teenagers, and she has an additional household member, Uncle Quigley. In this show even though Sabrina has her magic, she relies on a Spookie Jar to sometimes to help her cast spells. All of these characters help make the show as great as it was. Unfortunately Sabrina, the Teenage Witch was still greater so the show ended with only one season of 65 episodes. Though it has ended, it still is a great addition in Sabrina history and Viacom productions. However it wasn't the end for Sabrina: the show was slightly brought back in Oct. 2002 as a Nickelodeon TV-Movie! Sabrina the Animated Series: Friends Forever. Trivia(Not Goofs) -Did you know that this series was so popular that WB ended up making another spin-off called Sabrina's Secret Life -This series suffered the same fate of many Disney series, with only 65 episodes -Salem appeared in every single episode of this series -Hilda and Zelda are both voiced by Melissa Joan Hart, who played Sabrina in Sabrina: The Teenage Witch -Uncle Quiggley was created for this series, and only appears again in the spin-off Sabrina's Secret Life, but never is even mentioned in Sabrina The Teenage Witch DVD Release There is currently a DVD release in North America and Europe. Each DVD comes with 4 episodes and introductions by Melissa Joan Hart. The titles include: - A Witchmas Carol, that comes with the title episode, along with "Board & Sorcery", "Has Anybody Seen My Quigley", and "The Grandparent Trap". - Witch In Training, that comes with "Shrink To Fit", "Strange New World", "The Importance Of Being Norma", and "Anywhere But Here". - Bat Attack!, that comes with "Nothin' Says Lovin' Like Somethin' From a Coven", "Witchery Science Theater", "The Bat Pack", and "Field Of Screams" - Sabrina's World, that comes with "You Said A Mouse-ful", "Tale Of Two Kitties", "Key To My Heart", and "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted?" Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo

Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo is the 1979 update of the classic Scooby-Doo character. This was the fourth Scooby-Doo cartoon to date and introduced the world to Scrappy-Doo, Scooby's puppy nephew. Despite being related, Scrappy-Doo was not much like his uncle, Scooby. Situations that would normally cause Scooby-Doo to react in frozen terror would result in Scrappy-Doo putting up his paws and shouting "Lemme at 'em! I'll splat 'em!". Due to his small size and hot temper, Scrappy-Doo would often be in physical danger, forcing Scooby-Doo and Shaggy to reluctantly save him. Scooby, Scrappy, and the rest of Mystery, Inc. were still out solving mysteries. In this series they encounter some truly out-of-this-world characters including the UFO Weirdo, Aztec Acapulco Sea Creature, Sky Skeleton, Devil Bear, and Snake Demon of Haiti. The Weekenders

The Weekenders is a original Disney Channel show which focuses on a group of hardcore friends named Tino, Lor, Carver and Tish who spend their weekends trying to have as much fun as possible. While sometimes their weekends are far from what they plan, they usually manage to work together with the help of some advice from Tino's mother, and things usually work out in the end. Their weekends often consist of visiting various Pizza Parlors and ultimately to have the perfect weekend, though their weekends seldomly go as planned. The central setting of the cartoon is that it takes place only on the weekends, though in some cases it does show certain days of the week in order to show the cause of the episode or the end result thereof. It also has various quirks, like Tino's gray screen and the end-of-episode catchphrase, "Later days!". The Gang Tini Tonitini - Tino is the plan maker of the group even though his plans often turn into disasters while frequently adding to his list of phobias. Regardless, he greets every challenge with a sarcastic tone and is always reliable to help out his friends. He often asks his mother for help during dinner, though he usually would rather spend more time asking his mother for help than actually eating the bizarre dishes she cooks up. Lor McQuarrie - Lor is the tomboy of the group, which is likely credited to the fact that she has fourteen brothers. She is good at most sports and especially basketball, though her grades suffer due to her personality. She is a reliable friend in times of need and she does her best to help out when she can. She is usually eager to do most things, though when it comes to studying or speaking with her crush Thomson Oberman, she loses her nerve. Tish Katsufrakis - Tish is the brains and artist of the gang. She is a very nitpicky perfectionist and can get a little crazy at times in which she feels stressed. Many times her art can affect the gangs weekend but overall she is willing to use her abilities to help her friends and her family, though her complex nature often causes interesting circumstances despite her best efforts. Carver Decartes - Carver tries his best to be cool even though he isn't considered cool by the cool crowd. He is obsessed with his shoes and often times lead the gang to some bizarre ordeals. He tries not to feel bad about doing the wrong thing but usually his conscience catches up with him and comes back to help his friends when they need him. Disney's House of Mouse

House Of Mouse is the former but even better Mickey Mouse Works. "House of Mouse" is a nightclub-type theater, where Mickey himself emcees nightly. Stars of every Disney film ever made are seated in the audience, often becoming part of the show themselves, as Mickey and his friends entertain and premiere original cartoons. "The show must go on," as Mickey and gang must keep the club running, so Pete, the owner of the building, doesn't shut it down. A Christmas special entitled "Snowed in at the House of Mouse" is available on DVD and VHS. The DVD edition includes the first episode of the series, The Stolen Cartoons, in the "Special Features" section. Also available is soundtrack for this series, which features original songs as well as older Disney favorites. The album is available on Disney Records (the cover for the CD is the picture shown here). Now, Mickey's House Of Villains makes it's way on DVD and Video Sept. 3, 2003 for the villains musical number "It's Our House Now."

Mickey Mouse - Emcee Mickey Mouse hosts the nightclub, that's the hottest spot on Main Street, and the tooniest place on Earth, The House of Mouse. He is a kind-hearted and popular American icon that's been around since the '20s, and has been the Disney mascot since.
Minnie Mouse - When pandemonium breaks loose anywhere in the club, you can always count on Mickey's girlfriend, Minnie, to straiten things out from behind the scenes. When Mickey starts to panic from pressure, Minnie's there to calm him down.
Pluto - Mickey's faithful dog, Pluto, is also there, behind the scenes, keeping things in order.
Donald Duck - Donald Duck, owns The House of Mouse 50-50 with his best friend, Mickey. It's also his job to greet guests at the door. He can loose his temper very easily, but he can remain calm, if he tries... sometimes.
Daisy Duck - Donald's girlfriend, Daisy Duck, is responsible for having guests reserved and seated. She also does some pretty weird stuff every time Mickey gives her a chance on the stage.
Goofy Goof - Mickey and Donald's other friend, Goofy, is headwaiter of the club. With his clumsiness, we can be sure a lot of dishes are broken! Despite that, and that he shows little common sense, he's a loyal friend.
Maximilian "Max" Goof - Goofy's skateboard-cool, teenage son is valet of the club. Now, if only he could get his own car.
Gus Goose - Gus is the club cook. Just try to keep him from eating the food.
Clarabelle Cow - This cow is the queen of Main Street gossip. If she hears something juicy, she can't keep her mouth shut!
Horace Horsecollar - Horace is in charge of all multimedia works of the club. He runs cartoons, lights, sounds, you name it. The one line you're bound to hear directed to him is, "Hit it, Horace!"

The Bugs Bunny Show

ABC (ended 1972)

The Bugs Bunny Show was ABC's second prime-time animated series, along with The Flintstones and aired at 7:30 pm on Sundays. Not only was it one of the earliest broadcasts of Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies on televsion, it was popular for kids since it was a cartoon. Each episode was directed by a handful of senior Warner staffers, including, Friz Freleng, Chuck Jones, Robert McKimson, and Maurice Noble. The show would open with Bugs and Daffy marching out on stage singing "This Is It" which became an instint musical hit among animation and television fans. Then Bugs would introduce a theme or a special guest host. Three cartoons would run and segments were placed between each one. After the second segment a commerical would run. The commerical would exclusively feature one or more of Warner cartoon star which was usually Bugs adverising either Kool-Aid, Tang, or Post Cereals. At the end "Coming Attractions" would be viewed as a sort of "sneak preview" of next week's show. The show was compised of exclusively post-1948 Warner cartoons since it was ownership of the shorts was divided-which Guild Films had owned most of the black and white cartoons while A.A.P. owned all the pre-1948 color shorts-and the 1931-1933 black and white Merrie Melodies. ABC stopped running The Bugs Bunny Show and soon CBC in Canada started showing an/the entire 3rd season in the early 70s, since ABC had cancelled The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour for "Welcome Back, Kotter". These "new" episodes were actually just color version of the older episodes-with the three cartoons changed. With this additional 3rd "cheater" season, there were 78 episodes total. Today The Bugs Bunny Show remains one of the best and most memorable programs in television history. MORE INFORMATION Until 1966 all 52 episodes were originally shown in black and white. Schoolhouse Rock

ABC

Schoolhouse Rock! is an animated series of educational clips that uses songs to cover topics like grammar, social sciences, history, economics, mathematics, and civics for children that aired on ABC's Saturday Morning programming. David McCall, whose sons had trouble learning multiplications but easily memorized popular songs, started the show. Bob Dorough made the first song, "Three Is a Magic Number" which became part of the first season, "Multiplication Rock," along with "Ready or Not, Here I Come," and nine other songs accompanied by animation but Tom Yohe. The next season, "Grammar Rock," includes popular "Conjunction Junction," "Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, Get Your Adverbs Here," "Rufus Xavier Sasparilla," and "Unpack Your Adjectives," performed by jazz singer Blossom Dearie. There was also "Science Rock" and another season that's stood the test of time is "America Rock," which included "I'm Just a Bill" and "The Preamble." The next three seasons were "Computer Rock," "Money Rock," which included "Dollars and Sense" and "Where the Money Goes," and "Earth Rock." In 2002, a 30th Anniversary DVD was produced, and as recently as 2009 new songs have been produced for Schoolhouse Rock! affiliated products. The Care Bears keep watch over the earth to keep bad feelings at bay. Whenever a kid is feeling down, they are there to help bring a smile to the child's face. They live in a city in the sky, named Care-A-Lot. They hold meetings in the Hall of Caring to discuss important matters. Their cousins live in the Forest of Feelings. The Care Bear Cousins' leader is Braveheart Lion. Each bear and cousin has a special power, related to the symbol on its tummy. When they unite, they can use the Care Bear Stare to beam good energy at their enemies, such as No Heart, Professor Cold Heart, Shrieky, and Beastly. The bears have two modes of transportation, Cloudmobiles and Rainbow Rollers, which they fly down to earth on whenever there is trouble. They are alerted to problems by the Care-O-Meter. The Care Bears Family combined old episodes of Care Bears with new ones.moreless

School House Rock

Release history:
The soundtrack to Multiplication Rock was released on LP (Capitol 11174) in 1973 and on CD (Capitol 91253) in 1989. The discs are in stereo, but missing some foley from the broadcast versions. (see also reissues and covers) Filmstrips and 16mm films of Multiplication Rock, Grammar Rock, America Rock and Science Rock (hereafter The Big Four) were available to schools and libraries from Xerox Films. The film prints (and possibly the filmstrips) came with teachers' aides which included lyrics, questions for students and activities. In 1987 The Big Four were released by Golden Book Video on four VHS tapes. Cloris Leachman and "a group of young friends" sang and danced to new between-segment songs not produced by the original team. The tapes were missing The Good Eleven, Little Twelvetoes, and Three-Ring Government and America Rock was renamed History Rock. The videos were re-released on VHS (Aug. 8, 1995) and laserdisc (Dec. 13, 1995) by Capital Cities/ABC Video Publishers, restoring the missing segments and removing Ms. Leachman and friends. CD-ROMs and at least two music folios were released in 1996. Released Apr. 9, 1996 School House Rock! Rocks featured new versions of SHR songs performed by contemporary rock stars. School House Rock, the Box Set was released June 18, 1996 and featured 41 songs on 4 CDs. Disc 1 featured the stereo versions of Multiplication Rock plus a bonus track, My Hero, Zero by The Lemonheads. Discs 2-4 featured mono versions of the songs (probably directly from film) except The Preamble which is in stereo, and Verb which has an extremely small amount of separation. Episodes made in the 1990s were made in stereo and are presented in stereo in the box. The four discs were released separately, minus The Lemonheads track, on Apr. 1, 1997. Another tribute album, School House Rocks the Vote was released Aug. 18, 1998. It featured various artists covering School House Rock songs. Among the artists were Grady Tate singing Messin' with My Bill of Rights!, I'm Just a Bill by Joan Osborne and South Park's Isaac Hayes, and The Campaign Trail by Bob Dorough. A sampler CD, The Best of School House Rock was released Nov. 3, 1998, featuring songs by the original artists. I Got Six was named Best Picture of 1973 by ASIF-East, a chapter of the International Animated Film Association. Multiplication Rock received honors from Action for Children's Television. Bob Dorough received an Grammy nomination in 1974 for the Multiplication Rock LP, probably for Best Recording for Children (the winner was Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too). Most impressive was SHR's 4 Emmys, beating out shows like Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood Each discipline has been given its own season. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was a charming animated series that captured both kids and their parents with all-new outings featuring Pooh and the whole gang in the 100 Acre Wood. The world-famous bear, created by British author, A.A. Milne. He is joined by his young master, Christopher Robin. The ever-bouncy Tigger. The glum donkey, Eeyore. The incurable know-it-all, Rabbit. The always-confused Owl. The squeaky Piglet and the mother and son team of Kanga and Roo. Featuring quality animation along with original songs and scores, this series preserves the touching emotional qualities and "not just for kids" humor of the original Winnie the Pooh books. The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was part of what many consider Disney's "Golden Age," meaning the studio had quality writers, characters, theme songs, etc. Some other shows during this time were Gummi Bears, Talespin, Ducktales, and Darkwing Duck Characters Winnie the Pooh: Winnie the Pooh is the fun-loving bear. He is very caring and concerned about all of his friends. Pooh is friends with everyone in the Hundred Acre Woods. Some of his very good companions are Christopher Robin and Piglet. Pooh also loves honey. Piglet: Piglet is the small Piglet with big hopes. He believes that even though he isn't very big, he can do what his friends do. When they all go on adventures, Piglet is a little frightened, but he goes anyway because he is a such a good friend and will try to overcome his fears. Rabbit: Rabbit can be a bit serious sometimes. He loves to plant gardens that are always eaten by some crows and accidentally bounced on by Tigger. Rabbit builds scarecrows to get rid of the crows, sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. He can give some good advice to his friends. Eeyore: Eeyore is the slow-moving donkey. He tries over and over to build his houses, but someone may bounce or fall on it. Other times the wind blows it down or the weather. He always has his friends to help him rebuild it though. Eeyore also has a tail that is pinned on that happens to fall off occasionally. Tigger: Tigger loves to bounce, he tries to bounce higher each time. His bouncing can break things if it gets a big wild. One of his good friends is Roo, he taught him about bouncing and its fun. Kanga: Kanga is Roo's mother. She is very nice to everyone in the Hundred Acre Woods. Kanga is always helping others, or offering some snacks that she may have baked. Roo: Roo's mother is Kanga. He likes to bounce like Tigger. When his friends come around, he usually comes along with them. He was very happy when he moved to the Hundred Acre Woods. One of his best friends is Tigger. Christopher Robin: Christopher Robin is a very nice, young boy. He likes taking his friends on adventures. When they may have a problem with something, he usually figures it out or helps them. He is very good friends with Pooh. The Woody Woodpecker Show

Woody Woodpecker was a brash, high-strung woodpecker whose trademark was his staccato laugh, "ha-ha-ha-HA-ha". The character first appeared in the 1940 Andy Panda short, Knock Knock, voiced by Mel Blanc. When Blanc signed an exclusive contract with Warner Brothers, he was replaced by the man who originally designed Woody, Ben "Bugs" Hardaway, a former Schlesinger Studios animation director who had helped develop Daffy Duck and Bugs Bunny. Woody received a permanent voice in 1952, when Lantz's wife, actress Grace Stafford, anonymously auditioned for and was awarded the job. The theatrical cartoon business was losing money in the 1950's. By 1956 there were only seven animation producers in the short-subjects business, and by the end of the decade that number would dwindle down to three. Movie theater owners were finding that they could release features with reissued cartoons, or no cartoons at all, and the audiences would still come. Walter Lantz and his distributor, Universal Pictures, knew that the only way to subsidize the rising costs of new shorts was to release their product to television. Norman Gluck from Universal's short-subjects department made a deal with the Leo Burnett Agency to release some older Lantz product on television. Burnett handled the Kellogg's cereal account, and Lantz soon met with the Kellogg's people to sign the contract. Lantz complied his best films into a half-hour TV show which he hosted himself. Additional live action & animation segments were created, such as "Woody's Newsreel" and "Around The World with Woody". 30-minute animated escapades of the world-famous woodpecker and other Walter Lantz character, including Andy Panda and Chilly Willy. Host-producer Lantz intergrated new footage with his theatrical cartoons and appeared with informative looks at the animation process. The Woody Woodpecker Show originally ran on the ABC-TV network from October 3, 1957 through September 25, 1958. Sponsored by Kellogg's, each episode featured three theatrical cartoons, with new animated Woody wraparounds and live action hosting chores handled by Lantz himself. The live-action segments were directed by Jack Hannah. Hannah was fresh from the Disney Studio where he had done similar live-action/animation sequences for the Disney show. Woody also appeared in animated commercials for Kellogg's. The series was seen once a week, on Thursday afternoons, replacing the first half hour of the shortened Mickey Mouse Club. After the initial year on ABC, The Woody Woodpecker Show was syndicated until 1966. In 1970, it reappeared on network television, with 26 additional episodes assembled by Lantz for NBC-TV. The 1976 show featured cartoons (and additional cartoons) from the early days to the later days, all products of full animation that created the appearance of natural movement. Other characters featured were Buzz Buzzard, Gabby Gator, Space Mouse, Homer Pigeon, Charlie Beary, Charles Beary Jr., Sugarfoot, Cuddles, Smedley, and Knothead and Splinter.
