    Cartoon Network (ended 1997)
Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures is based on the series from the sixties (this series is now known as Classic Jonny Quest) and the series from the eighties (known as The New Adventures of Jonny Quest. The series from the sixties was created by Doug Wildey and produced by Hanna-Barbera, Inc. The New Adventures of Jonny Quest were created to complete the fourth half-hour of the syndicated Sunday line-up, The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera. In Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures Jessie Bannon, the daughter of Race, appears for the first time and she takes an important role in this series. The Story 14-year-old Jonny Quest invariably finds adventure in exotic locations around the world with his father, renowned scientist/explorer Dr Benton Quest. They are accompanied by Benton's adopted son and assistant, Hadji; Dr Quest's personal bodyguard, Race Bannon; and Jessie Bannon, Race's teenage daughter. And, of course, Jonny's faithful dog Bandit. One more exotic locale has been added to the travelogue - QuestWorld, a virtual-reality system invented by Benton Quest. Questworld is employed in recreating imaginary or otherwise inaccessible environments. The Questworld system has since been expanded by his son, Hadji and Jessie to include recreational uses as well. In the course of their adventures, the Quest team runs into resistance from a number of sources, ranging from former KGB operatives to their own government to the forces of nature herself. They also receive help from fellow seekers after knowledge, and sometimes from unexpected sources - such as a renegade nuclear submarine captain who targets whaling boats. Jonathan "Jonny" Quest Jonny is extremely curious and loves action. Whenever he is on a journey, he uses his wits to escape from trouble. He has a well-developed sense of responsibility, although he tends to be impatient and even reckless. Very loyal, campassionate, and adventurous, Jonny always puts others before himself. Hadji Quest-Singh Adopted by Dr. Quest, he is also his assistant. The mature and intelligible boy accompanies his mentor on all of his scientific excursions. Specializing in computer programming and general electronic know-how, and is an able backup for any situation. He seems to have a slight problem with heights. A wise person who is always by Jonny's side, teaching him new things and helping solve problems. He has also inherited psychic powers from his parents. Jessica Margaret Leya "Jessie" Bannon She has learned a lot from his father to become intelligent and resourceful. She has a special inclination towards computers and communications equipment, which she manipulates with ease. Her eagerness to participate in and sometimes initiate the Quest team's often rigorous activities does not in any way diminish her femininity. Roger T. "Race" Bannon He used to be a government agent and is now Dr. Quest's bodyguard and Operations Manager. The father of Jesse, he is experienced with piloting any vehicle and has a large knowledge of weapons and security. Benton C. Quest The doctor is a world-renowned phenomenologist, archaeologist, scientist and explorer whose daily commute ranges from 2 to 2000 miles. He has spent most of his life researching strange phenomena all around the world, and now is frequently commissioned as a consultant in such matters by individuals, institutions and governments alike. This has helped him build a personal fortune that allows him to pursue his own interests.moreless

In addition, they have vectors, or invisible hands, that can kill their enemy in an instant. Due to this dangerous power, they have been captured and isolated in laboratories by the government. Lucy, who is said to be the first Diclonius, manages to break free of her confines and brutally murders most of the guards in the laboratory where she was being held. She eventually gets shot in the head and drops into the ocean. She survives and manages to drift along to a beach, where two teenage cousins named Kouta and Yuka discover her. Having lost her memory, she was named after the only thing that she can now say, "Nyuu”. The two cousins allow her to stay at Kouta's home. However, it appears that Lucy is not dead just yet, and the government is not going to sit back and let her run free…! Elfen Lied (エルフェンリート) ran for 13 episodes on Japanese TV in 2004, adapting roughly the first 60 chapters out of the107 chapters (12 volumes) of the manga. The series was re-broadcasted in 2005 and was licensed by ADV Films in the United States in 2004, but not released until 2005. According to ADV, the anime was one of their best-selling releases of 2005. General Note on Airdates: The airdates for this guide are the Japanese airdates. Elfen Lied does not air on American TV, except for on ADV’s the Anime Network (TAN). Furthermore, it will most likely never air on general cable TV due to the extreme violence and nudity. The Title: The title 'Elfen Lied' was taken from the German song 'Elfenlied' by Eduard Mörike (1804-1875). The song plays on the similarity between the words for 'elf' and 'eleven', and takes place at eleven o'clock. The Manga: The manga is 12 volumes and 107 chapters long. Episodes 1 to 11 of the anime follow the storyline closely and adapt the first six volumes. The last two TV episodes, which were supposedly based from volume 7, drastically drifted from the manga's storyline. In addition, an original ending to the anime was implemented. The Anime - Opening Theme: Also see Epsidoe One's "Allusions" ~ The images of the opening theme are images from the paintings of Gustav Klimt (1862-1918). Most are from his most famous painting, "The Kiss" (1907-1908). ~ The text of the opening theme is "Beatus vir", an excerpt from the Latin Vulgate edition of the Bible. The passage is from James 1: "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." ~ The opening theme’s lyrics include: Psalm 36:30 - “Os iusti meditabitur sapientiam et lingua eius loquetur iudicium" or “The mouth of the just shall meditate wisdom: and his tongue shall speak judgment” "Kyrie Fons Bonitatis" (also known as the trope chant) - "Kyrie, ignis divine, pectora nostra succende, ut digni pariter proclamare possimus semper, eleison" or “Lord, divine fire, inflame our hearts, so that together we may worthily proclaim forever: have mercy” "Ave Mundi Spes Maria" (also known as the medieval sequence hymn) - “Oh, quam sancta, quam serena, quam benigna, quam amoena esse virgo creditur” or "Oh how holy, how serene, how benign, how delightful is this maiden who believed!" All three pieces can be found in the album “Chant” by the famous Benedictine Monks of the Santo Domingo de Silos Monastery.moreless

    Nickelodeon (ended 2009)
While most kids think their own problems are the end of the world, there's one girl whose problems really are the end of the world. My Life as a Teenage Robot is the story of Jenny, a super-powered robot with a super-sensitive teenage heart. Her primary function is to protect the planet from certain disaster, but, like all teenagers, she has her own ideas about how she would like to live. Defending the Earth has become a mundane chore, and she would rather do more exciting things like go to high school and be allowed to drive the family car. My Life as a Teenage Robot, a spin-off from Nickelodeon's hit Oh Yeah! Cartoons (under the name My Neighbor Has A Teenage Robot), was created by Rob Renzetti and is executive produced by Renzetti and Fred Seibert. This show is the third of three spinoffs of Oh Yeah! Cartoons, the others being ChalkZone and Fairly OddParents. Characters: Global Robotic Response Unit XJ9, aka Jenny Wakeman - XJ9 is just like any other robot designed to defend the planet. She's powerful, confident, clever, brave...oh yeah, and she's gotta be home by 9! Jenny, as XJ9 likes to be called, is spunky, dramatic and prone to major mood swings (sound familiar?). She's also obsessed with pop stars, teen magazines and fitting in with the cool kids. Just like a regular teenager, right? Well, yeah...if regular teenagers were 6 feet tall and made of metal! XJ9's creator (a.k.a. mom) is constantly reminding her of her planetary responsibilities, but Jenny's tired of saving the world and just wants to hang out with her friends. What's a teenage robot to do? Bradley "Brad" Carbunkle - Brad is the boy next door. He's Jenny's closest neighbor and her best friend. Brad's not really interested in the stuff his friends at school are into, and wishes he were more like Jenny. He loves a good adventure and he's dying for a chance to explore the world outside high school. To Jenny, Brad's the reference point to all things "teenaged." He's the gatekeeper of "cool." Only Brad gets bored talking about all that lame teenager stuff and jumps at every chance to get in on Jenny's universe-saving superhero action. Guess the grass really IS greener on the other side of the fence... Tucker "Tuck" Carbunkle - Unlike his older brother Brad, Tuck is suspicious of the unknown and likes to be surrounded by familiar things and faces. He has a whole assortment of hidden fears and anxieties (let's just say he's not a fan of ferris wheels!) At first, Tuck was terrified of Jenny too, but after an unplanned tag-along on a meteor-blasting mission he's become her biggest fan. Well, next to Brad. Despite his fears, Tuck insists on going along on Jenny and Brad's adventures. Though being the typical trouble-making little brother he is, he usually ends up doing more damage than good. Mrs. Norene "Nora" Wakeman - Mrs. Wakeman had been struggling for years to rid the world of evil through the use of her inventions. And then, in a moment of brilliance, she created: XJ9 (a.k.a. Jenny). More mad scientist than understanding mom, Mrs. Wakeman can teach Jenny to battle almost anything that comes her way, but she's not so hot at talking about teenage stuff like clothes and boys. Mrs. Wakeman just doesn't get why Jenny would rather go to the fair than defend the Earth. But isn't having a mom who doesn't understand you, like, Rule #1 for being a teenager? Brittany and Tiffany Crust - Brit and Tiff sit securely on the top of the social hierarchy at school. Brit is the master of the putdown, and Tiff can intimidate anyone in school. All the world domination-plotting super-villians on the planet don't even come close to wielding the power these two cliqueish cousins hold in their hands, and no one is more aware of that than Jenny. But Jenny's arrival on the scene throws this tyranical twosome for a loop. Her physical power makes Tiff's intimidation impossible, and the curiosity she generates threatens Brit's center-of-attention status. Suddenly, Jenny is Brit and Tiff's public enemy number one! Unfortunately, the one thing Jenny's superpowers can't stop is her own desire to be popular! Sheldon Lee - Even though he knows he's pretty low down on the totem-poll of popularity, Sheldon is satisfied as a budding engineer and a comic book fan. And if that makes him a geek, so be it! He's quite content to spend his time perfecting mechanical projects and pouring over comics. Until he meets Jenny, that is. Jenny's the perfect combination of superhero and suped-up machine, and Sheldon falls for her-fast! He's constantly giving her gizmos and gadgets as gifts, but they never seem to do the trick. Alas, unfortunately for Sheldon, Jenny's fine with being his friend, but the thought of dating him hurts her brainwaves.moreless

Nonetheless, the show continued to run in syndication in the 70s and gained popularity. Now, Stark Trek is one of the most-loved sci-fi stories of all time, with many spin-off series and several feature films. Star Trek holds the Guinness World Record for having the largest number of spin-offs among television shows in history.
