    HBO (ended 1996)
Based on the legendary and gruesome 1950's EC Comics from publisher, William M. Gaines, this horror anthology featured stories of murder, greed, lust, gore and the supernatural, with touches of humor sprinkled throughout, usually with a twist ending of sorts. Some of Hollywood's biggest names including Demi Moore, Tom Hanks, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Whoopi Goldberg and Michael J. Fox were featured, either in front or behind the camera. Hosting duties fell to everyone's favorite decaying corpse, the Crypt Keeper. The episodes were based on several comic books by Gaines, which were The Vault of Horror, The Haunt of Fear, Crime SuspenStories, Shock SuspenStories, and, of course, Tales from the Crypt, to name a few. The success of this series spawned a Saturday morning cartoon series, Tales from the Cryptkeeper, a short-lived Saturday morning gameshow on CBS, Secrets of the Cryptkeeper's Haunted House, and lots of merchandise. A short-lived TV series based on the EC Comics' Weird Science series, entitled Perversions of Science, was also produced in 1997, following the same anthology format as Tales from the Crypt, with wraparound segments featuring a female android named Chrome. In addition, two feature films, Demon Knight (1995) and Bordello of Blood (1996), were also produced. In 2006, Ritual, a third film originally released overseas (without the Crypt Keeper wraparounds) in 2001, was finally released on DVD. Two other movies based on the EC Comics Tales From the Crypt and The Vault of Horror were released back in 1972 and 1973 respectively. They are not connected to this series in any way, other than the original source. Since its cancellation, Tales from the Crypt had aired in syndication on HBO, Fox, the Sci-Fi Channel, AMC, DirectTV's Chiller Network, Zone Horror in the UK and in Canada on CBC and the Space Channel.moreless

She-Ra: Princess of Power is an animated spin-off of the phenomenally popular 1980s series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. It follows the adventures of Princess Adora/She-Ra and the members of the Great Rebellion as they try to free planet Etheria from the evil Horde. The leader of the Horde forces that rule Etheria is Hordak, a sorceror who kidnapped the infant Adora during a failed attempt to conquer He-Man's homeworld years ago. Adora's twin brother Adam/He-Man and his nemesis Skeletor often make guest appearances. Like He-Man, this show was spawned from a line of popular Mattel toys and is still a classic among many fans.

"I am Adora, He-Man's twin sister, and defender of the Crystal Castle. This is Spirit, my beloved steed. Fabulous secrets were revealed to me the day I held aloft my sword and cried, "For the Honor of Grayskull!!" From the show's opening sequence.moreless

M.A.S.K., the cartoon, was brought to us by the people at DIC Enterprises, Inc. It aired between 1985 and 1988 as far as I know. I'm not too sure what time it was on at elsewhere, Recently, M.A.S.K. has been back on TV again in various places in Europe. If anyone has more precise information on M.A.S.K. airings in other places both past and present and any show info you have you can contribute it by going to the right page and pressing the button, please feel free to contribute what know. The cartoon focused mainly on the vehicles and characters from the original 1985 toy line. Later on, there were also some appearances from some 1986 vehicles. (Interestingly enough, I don't think they ever made a toy of Shark, a vehicle that was seen on the cartoon quite a bit...) The last season of the show apparently featured a racing theme to correspond with the racing series M.A.S.K. toys. I have seen most of these episodes however. From what I think, they were quite lame, mainly due to the fact that every single episode took place at a race track! Meitantei Holmes (Sherlock Hound) is, as of 12/31/04, the last TV series to be made by Hayao Miyazaki (Kiki's Delivery Service, Spirited Away). The shows plot centers around Sherlock Holmes, along with the help of Doctor Watson, figuring out and stopping the evil schemes of Professor Moriarty and his henchmen Todd and Smiley. Miyazaki wrote the scripts for all 26 episodes, but he actually only directed 6 of them. The easiest way to tell these episode apart is to look at Professor Moriarty's henchman, Smiley; in a Miyazaki directed episode, he has green fur. Two of these episodes were theatrically released along with Nausicaä of the Valley of Wind in 1984. ("Blue Ruby" and "Treasure Under the Sea".) Welcome to The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! guide at TV.com. Cartoon Summary The Mario Bros.; Mario and Luigi, were two plumbers from Brooklyn. On one of their plumbing jobs, they were in the middle of unclogging a bathtub drainpipe. Without any warning, the drain suddenly pulled the brothers in, and warped them to the Mushroom Kingdom. Upon their arrival, they rescued Princess Peach Toadstool and Toad from King Bowser Koopa and his army. Although Princess Toadstool and Toad are now safe, the Koopas are still at large. On top of that, the warp zone leading to Brooklyn had closed. It's up to Mario and Luigi to not only liberate the Mushroom World from King Koopa, but to find a way back to Brooklyn. Live Action Summary Set after the events of the Donkey Kong games, but prior to the events of the cartoon, this portion of the show shows us how Mario and Luigi used to live, running their plumbing shop in Brooklyn. Their friends include Radigator and Edison the Electrician, not to mention the many guest stars that come to visit. The Theme Song: Plumber's Rap Hey paisanos! It's the Super Mario Brothers Super Show! Do the Mario! Swing your arms from side to side Come on it's time to go Do the Mario! Take one step And then again Let's do the Mario All together now! Come on now! Just like that! Character Guide Mario Mario The main character, and unofficial leader of the heroes. Being a plumber, he can can do just about anything that involves plumbing, and he can use plumbing tools for a lot more than just plumbing! Mario also has a huge taste for Italian food. On this show, he and Luigi got sucked down a drain in Brookyln which took them to the Mushroom Kingdom, and now they have to find their way home. Luigi Mario Mario's younger brother. Although he tends to have a more cowardly attitude towards danger than Mario, he's probably the saner of the two. Unfortunately for Luigi, the others tend to treat him like a fall boy, causing him to end up doing a lot of dirty work. Like his bro, he's a plumbing pro, and he has a fondness for Italian cuisine. Princess Peach Toadstool She's the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, which has been taken over by the Koopas. She's also the most reasonable thinker of the group. She and the Marios have to find a way to stop the Koopas so she can reclaim her kingdom. NOTE: On the cartoons, she was never called Peach, so the guide will usually refer to her as Princess or sometimes Princess Toadstool for continuity's sake. Please refer to her as Princess in your submissions. Toad Princess' assistant. Toad often has a lot to say, and usually cracks jokes here and there. Though he doesn't look like he's capable of much, he's proven he can pull through when things get tough, and is often fairly resourceful. King Bowser Koopa The leader of the Koopa Troop is big, bad, and proud of it. He's friends with no one, and even his henchmen are treated poorly by him. However, he does have a sense of humor, and it shows. His goal in life is to conquer the Mushroom World, one land at a time. He usually hangs out with either Mouser, Triclyde, a Troopa, or sometimes all three of them. In many episodes, he will don a costume and go by a different name, usually just for the heck of it. NOTE: On this show, he was never called Bowser, so the guide will usually refer to him as Koopa for continuity's sake. Please refer to him as Koopa in your submissions. Important Notes for Submitting information: Episode Recap: An episode recap should be VERY detailed, almost narrating the episode. One should be able to read a recap and have as much knowledge of the episode as someone who saw the episode. We encourage you to submit an episode recap if you able to watch any episode. Episode Notes: Notes should provide key information in little bullet points. But I still want all notes in complete sentences. Goofs: Goofs should follow the same format as Notes. Please make sure that when you submit a goof, the REASON it is a goof is clearly mentioned or understood. Quotes: Quotes need to follow a specific format or they will not be accepted. For single-line quotes: Hello, I'm Mario! For conversations: Mario: Hello, I'm Mario! Luigi: Hi. I am Luigi! Koopa: Hello! I'm your king, Koopa! For simultaneous speaking: Mario: Hello, I'm Mario! Luigi: Hi. I am Luigi! Mario/Luigi: And we're the Mario Brothers!!! To add actions: Mario: Hello, I'm Mario! Luigi: Hi. I am Luigi! Koopa: Hello! I'm your king, Koopa! [Koopa jumps on Mario and Luigi] To add short character descriptions: Mario: Hello, I'm Mario! Luigi: Hi. I am Luigi! Koopa: Hello! I'm your king, Koopa! [Koopa jumps on Mario and Luigi] Mario/Luigi [flattened]: Ow! You will need to use good grammar when submitting entries at this guide. Capitalize and punctuate correctly. Following the Spider-Man (1981) cartoon, NBC decided they wanted Spidey to go in a different, more accessible direction. So in order to reach a wider audience, they added the X-Men character Ice-Man, a new character called Firestar, gave Peter Parker a room that turned into a secret superhero hi-tech headquarters, and renamed the show SPIDER-MAN AND HIS AMAZING FRIENDS. What kid can't relate, right? Regardless of the reasoning, the changes must have worked many people watched this show. Not only do the Spider-Friends fight Spider-Man's enemies (Dr. Octopus, Scorpion, Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter, Swarm (not Fritz Von Meyer in this reality, just a bunch of bees), The Chameleon, Electro, Mysterio, Kingpin, The Shocker, The Sandman, and The Beetle) and other Marvel universe villians (Dr. Doom, Magneto, Loki, Mordred, The Red Skull, and The Juggernaut), but also new villians made only for the show. There were episodes when the Spider-Friends teamed up with other Marvel superheroes like Sunfire, Captain America, Shanna the She-Devil, Namor the Sub-Mariner, Dr. Strange, The Hulk, Thor, The Black Knight III, and the X-Men. For the second season, the title became THE INCREDIBLE HULK AND THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, becoming an hour show that featured 30 minutes of Spidey (and friends) and 30 minutes of Hulk. By third season, the concept was the same, only in reverse order with a new title, "THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN AND THE INCREDIBLE HULK". Despite the name changes, this area will focus on all three seasons of Spidey and friends.moreless

    ABC (ended 1986)
This is DIC's first animated show (with the second being Inspector Gadget) and it first premiered in September of 1983 on ABC. The Littles is loosely based on The Borrowers from a creative author named John Peterson. This series focuses on one particular family of Littles - Grandpa, Mom and Dad, Dinky, and the two youngest: Tom and Lucy. In their quest to become productive adults, the Littles and their 12-year old huge friend Henry face the same kinds of problems that young children face every day - issues of friendship, jealousy, honesty, prejudice, consideration for others, kindness, responsibility, risk-taking ... and more. Each episode of the Littles focuses on one such issue, presenting it in explicit, concrete terms. And young, attractive characters with whom children can identify carry out these actions, they serve as excellent role models for young viewers. Younger and older children, boys and girls, loners and social butterflies...all can find a character with whom to identify and from whom to learn. And last but far from least, the character of Grandpa, a wise, experienced, older Little who clearly loves and cares for the Little kids, functions as the kind of non-threatening, non-didactic teacher to whom children respond. He frequently articulates the lesson inherent in the action as he interacts with and advises the Little children. He is the best kind of teacher. The exciting adventures of the Littles and the suspense generated by their frequent narrow escapes from Dr Hunter are designed to capture and hold young viewers' attention. The explicitness with which each lesson is articulated and role models with whom children can identify are designed to ensure that children note and understand the embedded pro-social content as they derive delight from the action. Theme Song Henry: "I have a very special secret, i'm the only one who knows about tiny people living in our walls called The Littles". Lucy: Hello Henry Bigg! Henry: Hello, Lucy Little! Grandpa: Wait a second, Dinky Little! Dinky: No time, Grandpa Little! Lucy: Jump, Tom Little! Henry: Someone's Coming Mr. Little: Come home kids! Lucy: Quick slick! The story takes place after The Ghost Busters (starring Forrest Tucker, Larry Storch, and Bob Burns). But this time their sons are joined up with Tracey the gorilla (who returns), Jessica ( a TV reporter), Futura (a mysterious woman from the future), and Belfry the bat. At their HQ "Ghost Command" they battle the evil spooks of Prime Evil, at his "Haunt-Quarters" and even through space and time in their transforming GhostBuggy. For those of you who don't the story of how The Real Ghostbusters got the name, here's the lowdown (thanks to ProtonCharging.com): When the movie was being made it turned out that Filmation Associates already had a show called "Ghostbusters". Due to the popularity of the Ivan Reitman directed movie, Filmation revamped their show and made it animated, "Filmations' GhostBusters" (a.k.a. "the Original GhostBusters"). So when Columbia came out with their own animated spinoff of Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis's "Ghostbusters" movie, they decided to call it "The REAL Ghostbusters" just to spite Filmation. But that's not all: "We've often assumed that Filmation opened litigation against Columbia. As it turns out (or at least according to Tomart's article) Columbia was free and clear to use "Ghostbusters" without Filmation's permission. When Filmation began work on their cartoon Ghost Busters, it was Columbia who turned it into a legal issue. You learn something new everyday."moreless
