As for being based on real life, the series is created by the siblings mom, Polly Draper ("thirtysomething" actress), who also serves as chief writer, executive producer, and director. The path to super stardom is a long, difficult one. The cameras follows Nat and Alex through their concerts, their rehearsals, and their private lives, as they deal with the growing pains related to love, friendship, and fame. Exploring the origins of pop, rock and R&B, this series takes a look at some of the people whose influence behind the scenes has been as influential as some of the celebrated figures behind the mic. "Accordion Kings" delves into accordion culture in Columbia and showcases the massive Vallenato accordion festival. The outrageous comedy/reality series stars British chameleon Sacha Baron Cohen, who travels across America in the guise of one of three totally different characters. Cohen's primary alter-ego is Ali G., who calls himself a "hip-hop journalist", but who's really a white rapper-wannabe.

When Cohen isn't putting Ali G and his "guests" in unusual and often delightfully uncomfortable situations, he's shedding his yellow gangsta track suit attire and slipping into two other memorable characters: Borat, an impossibly naive TV reporter from Kazakhstan, and Bruno, a gay Austrian fashionista. The series aired under the name 'Ali G in da USAiii' in the UK, on channel 4, were the original show aired.moreless

Spectacle: Elvis Costello With... fuses the best elements of talk radio and music television, inviting viewers to enjoy rare musical performances and intimate conversations between the award-winning host and his iconic guests - each of whom is an influential figure from the world of music, politics or film. Explaining his approach, Elvis said, "I'm not interested in extracting some dark secret. I'd rather hear about a bright secret, a deep love or a curiosity that might be otherwise obscured by fame. This is a wonderful opportunity to talk in complete thoughts about music, movies, art or even vaudeville - then frame it with unique and illustrative performances." Guest artists, who run the gamut from legendary performers to notable newcomers, demonstrate the development and creation of their music - often by playing new, stripped-down, acoustic, impromptu or solo versions of some of their best and most popular songs. Elvis and The Imposters perform interpretations of songs either by or associated with the featured guests. In addition, the show features extraordinary, once-in-a-lifetime musical collaborations. Spectacle airs on the Sundance Channel in the U.S., Channel 4 in the U.K. and CTV & Bravo in Canada. Elsewhere, FremantleMedia distributes the show worldwide. In addition, Season 1 of Spectacle is now available on iTunes and a DVD/Blu-ray box set was released throughout North America on November 17, 2009. The show is recorded before a live audience at Harlem's world famous Apollo Theater in New York City and Toronto's historic Masonic Temple.moreless

    PBS
Keeping Score is a musical documentary TV series developed by PBS in conjunction with the San Francisco Symphony that follows host Michael Tilson Thomas as he explores the greats of classical music composers and the inspirations for some of their better-known masterpieces. When Romantic French composer Hector Berlioz wrote his Symphonie fantastique, it had been inspired by more than just a desire to create a beautiful new work of music but instead was fierce and dedicated love letter to a beautiful actress. Michael Tilson Thomas (MTT) throws out the question and hunts down his answer of how Aaron Copland, a Brooklyn Jew, managed to blend the unique sounds of jazz, folk, and hymns to create a sound that to this day is known as being the sound of the 20th Century America. With the original score and its markings, MTT tries to recreate the same journey of Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky as the Russian composer rehearsed, fine-tuned, and premiered his Fourth Symphony just as the San Francisco Symphony mirrors the preparation. Keeping Score is a combination of the inspiring history and the modern interpretations of composers and their masterful pieces of music.moreless
