"My name is William Hartnell, and as Doctor Who, I make my debut on Saturday 23rd November at 5.15." Doctor Who is the longest-running science fiction TV series in history, airing initially from 1963 to 1989. The series told the story of the Doctor, a mysterious traveller in space and time, whose TARDIS can take him and his companions anywhere in time and space. Inevitably he finds evil at work wherever he goes… The series was postponed indefintely in 1989, but fans of the series would not allow it to die, and a whole cottage industry was created around original novels and audio-only productions. There was an abortive attempt to renew the franchise as a series of telemovies in the U.S., but ratings for the pilot were judged insufficient. In 2003, the BBC announced that, at long last, it would commission a revival of Doctor Who. The series, initially starring Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, was launched in 2005. You can read about the new series here. Traditionally listed by production, the data on this site has now been amended to TV.com standards and lists each of the 697 broadcast episodes from the original series. I hope that you find the site useful, and that it might act as a springboard to the wider world of Doctor Who appreciation. TheOldBillmoreless

Image hosted by Photobucket.com This ten episode program was based on ten short stories written by Agatha Christie but with wide-ranging themes. Some were romances, several had supernatural themes, and a couple were youthful adventures. They were set in the England of the nineteen twenties and thirties, and much care was taken to present them as authentically as possible, with great attention to detail. Their common link was that all came from the talented pen of Agatha Christie, all were entertaining, and each program was carefully crafted and well cast, with many of the best of Britain's actors represented.moreless

When the unbalanced Helena finally learns the truth, it becomes clear that she will go to extraordinary lengths to have her revenge... Jane Eyre is a 1983 television mini-series on BBC (British Broadcasting Channel). The series is a fresh television adaptation of Charlotte Bronte's 1947 novel, Jane Eyre. The series follows, with great dramatic prowess, the orphan from childhood and on into her adulthood. The young Jane Eyre lives a miserable life with her aunt. After years of mental torture she is sent to Longwood, a school for those that cannot afford a proper education. Upon advice from a friend she posts a job listing advertising her services as a governess. She is quickly scooped up and goes to live and work for Edward Rochester, a cold and mysterious man. As the story unfolds we start to see a blossoming love affair between the young governess and her employer, but everything isn't always what it seems. Around every corner, Jane seems to be seeing shadowy figures in windows and mumbling voices behind doors and walls. There is someone else in the household, but no one will admit to it. There is a great secret in the Rochester house, one that might be strong enough to keep the two love-birds apart. The series received great praise for it's outstanding adaptation and went on to win numerous awards of excellence.moreless

Mansfield Park is a dramatic TV series directed by David Giles based on Jane Austen's novel of the same name that centers on the nineteenth century life of Fanny Price (Sylvestra Le Touzel), a young and relatively impoverished girl who is raised in the richer world of her uncle and aunt, Sir Thomas and Lady Bertram (Bernard Hepton and Angela Pleasence). Even though she is raised with her four cousins, Tom (Christopher Villiers), Edmund (Nicholas Farrell), Maria (Samantha Bond), and Julia (Liz Crowther), Fanny is consistently treated as an inferior cousin to all but Edmund, who as a hopeful clergyman often acts towards her with compassion and kindness. As her love for her cousin grows, the vanity and lack of self control the other Betram children have spun to include the solicitous and devious siblings Henry and Mary Crawford (Robert Burbage and Jackie Smith-Wood) in a cruel game of affectionate cat and mouse. In a time where money and standing meant everything, the kind hearted and moral Fanny Price is torn between following her heart and taking any offer of future comfort.moreless
