    Bravo (ended 2004)
Bravo shines the spotlight on the real lives of parents and their would-be child stars in the new original weekly series "Showbiz Moms & Dads." This six-part, one-hour series features five extraordinary families from around the country determined to find fame and fortune for their children—no matter what the cost. "Showbiz Moms & Dads" follows each family's day-to-day struggle over the course of several months as the kids audition for television shows and commercials, rehearse music routines, compete in beauty pageants and struggle to land roles in feature films. As they make their way along the unpredictable road to fame, we'll witness the extreme measures some parents will take to make their children into stars. Whether it's an aggressive stage mom pushing her child forward, or it's a reluctant, uncertain mother whose child is the driving force, "Showbiz Moms" explores the true lives of these determined families—and reveals stories both heartwarming and shocking. "Showbiz Moms & Dads" features the following families: THE NUTTERS Duncan Nutter relocated his wife and seven children from their rural home in Vermont to a tiny two-bedroom apartment in New York so the family could pursue acting careers in the big city. But not everyone made the move willingly, and tensions in the Nutter home are high. With acting gigs being few and far-between, Duncan is forced to take a low-wage job as a theater usher to support the family. Living on top of each other in cramped quarters, tempers reach a boiling point and some family-members openly rebel, determined to leave acting behind and return to their old life in the country. THE MOSELEY-STEPHENS Hollywood agent Kimberly is a single mom sacrificing her own dreams for her daughter. As an insider in the business, she puts all of her energy into her daughter's career, often at the expense of her own. Whether spending days on sets, driving to auditions, or going to rehearsals, Kimberly's determined to make her daughter Jordan a star. At age 8, the young actress is well on her way to success, having landed roles in two feature films and on Disney Channel's "That's So Raven." While mom Kimberly is strict, she has a close relationship with her daughter, who truly loves the spotlight and is on her way to success. THE TYES Child beauty pageants are an obsession for the Tye family. Debbie takes her four year-old daughter Emily from city to city throughout Florida on weekends to participate in these competitive and high-glam events - many of which end in tears. When not at a pageant, Debbie and Emily spend their week rehearsing with coaches, buying $500 dresses, styling hair and getting fake tans. But while the losses are difficult for young Emily, mom Debbie takes the failures even harder—leading some to wonder who's really competing in these pageants—mother or daughter. THE KLINGENSMITHS "Showbiz Moms & Dads" follows this motivated Florida mom as she takes her son Shane to auditions, choreographs a dance routine for him, and attempts to land him an agent. Debbie is convinced that her son Shane should be the next Backstreet Boy - and she refuses to take no for an answer. When Shane's voice begins to change, Debbie is persistent and quickly turns the focus of her son's career to modeling and acting. THE BARRONS Between working 60-hour weeks, orchestrating her 13 year-old daughter's acting career and desperately trying to make her new marriage work, L.A. showbiz mom Tiffany is portrait of a life in chaos. Desperately trying to hold it all together, this overstretched and overwhelmed mom scrambles from audition to audition while her unappreciative daughter Jordan barks commands at her from the backseat. When the tears aren't flowing, the mouths are yelling in this family. But what will happen when mom decides she's had enough? "Showbiz Moms" is produced by World of Wonder for Bravo. The executive producers are Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato and David Perler. Todd Radnitz is the supervising producer. Frances Berwick, Amy Introcaso-Davis and Shari Levine are executive producers for Bravo.moreless

"This just in..." "A dynamic cast brings headline information fast and first, interrupting the normal broadcast with Breaking News." "Personal trials collide with professional challenges as reporters, anchors, producers and staff strive to assemble the story amid an often chaotic 24-hour television network newsroom. But how far will the media go to get an "exclusive"? Faced with questionable sources and ethical ambiguities, the news team uncovers startling, disturbing and poignant truths while struggling to maintain journalistic integrity." (press release) Meet the Behind-the-Scenes Team Peter Kozyck (Brown), News Division President: "He is a smart over-achiever with great news instincts. Never married and Gatsby-esque in character, he is convinced he didn't get into Princeton and was forced to go to Villanova because he did not have the proper pedigree. He still feels the need to overcompensate for this middle-class background, believing that acting the part of the social elite means buying designer clothes, over-priced cars and weekend homes in the country." Rachel Glass (Walter), Executive Producer: "She has a hard time accepting the fact that everyone cannot do their jobs as well as she does hers. She doesn't do anything simply to enjoy it. If she takes a walk in the park, it is not to take advantage of a beautiful day, it's to work off the ice cream she scoffed down after realizing it is well past dinner and she hasn't had a bite to eat all day. She hasn't had time to think about having a personal life, with the exception of a few unsuccessful dates here and there, because she's too busy managing the latest news crisis--not exactly what her New York Upper East Side Jewish mother and father had in mind." Ethan Barnes (Bairstow), Producer: "the son of the network president and CEO, whose background as a documentary filmmaker won him accolades on the festival circuit. Looking for stability and a place to hone his skills and talent, he lands a job as a producer at the network by answering a help-wanted ad. After submitting his resume, he learns the blind ad is for a job at his father's network." Quentin Druzinski (Gale), Producer: "Rachel Glass's right-hand man, who goes out of his way to impress Peter and Rachel. He becomes a bit unnerved when his superiors don't recognize his talent as a producer. Anxiously awaiting a promotion, he gets bumped back when Ethan Barnes joins the network." Julian Kerbis (Adelstein), Field Producer: "Jamie Templeton's field producer and personal partner. Kerbis loves the thrill of being on assignment, but has developed strong feelings about wanting to start a family and build a life with Jamie." Meet the On-Air Talent Bill Dunne (Matheson), News Anchor: "I24 network's star anchor whose career in reporting began in the field. Although he is pleased by his achievements as a top broadcast journalist, he doesn't hesitate to remind his colleagues and his bosses that he feels he deserves a bigger say in network decision making. His greatest asset is his unmatched talent for impromptu commentary. If you need to fill seven minutes of air, Dunne is your man." Janet LeClaire (Crist), Feature Correspondent: "who, increasingly fed up with the puff pieces she is assigned, is eventually promoted to be Dunne's co-anchor for the 8 o'clock news. She has a tough time ad-libbing in emergency situations, but her friendly and inquisitive personality makes her adept at one-on-one interviews in the studio. She graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism, was hired as a weather girl in North Carolina, and is working her way up." Jamie Templeton (King), Field Reporter: "one of the best special assignment reporters in broadcast journalism. She loves a challenge, and the more dangerous the assignment, the better. She's been on the move ever since graduating from Yale and because of her job, hasn't had the chance to settle down into one place." Mel Thomas (Sams), Special Assignment Reporter: "whose career began as a writer of a Chicago newspaper column where he blended reporting and personal opinions. Married to a very successful software executive, he and his wife are constantly challenged to find a balance between their successful careers and spending time with their 11-year-old son." (character quotes courtesy http://www.bravotv.com) From the network that knows drama comes this dramatic series that takes place behind-the-scenes of a CNN-like net. Or was supposed to come, anyway, since TNT moved its premiere back twice before ultimately cancelling it without ever broadcasting a single episode, eating $13 million in the process. Some PR bunk suggesting they felt they'd be putting good money after bad followed; theories arose expressing the belief that, after contributing years worth of garbage to FOX and the WB, new (and already gone) boss Jamie Kellner didn't "get" it; others were certain that AOL Time Warner killed it out of fear that it would scare potential viewers away from CNN. Whatever it was, perhaps TNT might want to think about changing their slogan to "TNT knows jack." In April, 2002, one year after the final episode was filmed, Bravo announced they had picked up the broadcast rights to the series -- which was first aired on Wednesday nights from July to October, 2002. Most recently known for her work on the BRAVO show My Life on the D-List, Griffin has made her return to stand-up full time. Lampooning everyone in Hollywood, Kathy regularly makes fun of her place at the bottom of the celebrity food chain. Encounters with other celebrities, being a reality TV star, and hard-hitting political humor are all par for the sassy comedian. With her quick wit and self-deprecating style, Kathy makes sure to offend everyone, especially republicans, in these specials. Filmed in various locations throughout the country, Griffin's use of vulgar language flow well with her harshly hysterical criticisms of celebrities and the self-involved lives they so often lead. Does she nag? Does he snore? Just what annoys you the most about your loved one? The Emmy Award nominated producers of Manor House and Colonial House present this new Bravo series based on BBC2's Five Things I Hate About You. Each week, a different couple has the oppurtunity to vie against each other and prove which one of them has the most annoying habits. A jury of three experts will look over each couples case and decide who is, in fact, the most irritating of the two. The person who is declared the most annoying must face a punishment thought up by their significant other while the other is given a special gift. Mo Rocca, best known from his work on The Daily Show and VH1's I Love the 70s, 80s and 90s shows, with his usual wry sense of humor, hosts this documentary series and takes an amusing look at why we always annoy the ones we love. He is joined by Jacqui Malouf (Food Network's Hot Off the Grill with Bobby Flay), a relationship expert, who leads the jury while they study the show's couples and provide some commentary to better understand what's behind those annoying little habits.moreless
