With rigorous and extremely intense practices, the upperclassmen of the team expect the very best from themselves, and expect even more from the new members of the team. He's made the cut but can he survive the intense competition? Join Ryoma and other first year players, as they train hard, make friends, and try to find a place for themselves on the team. A widely followed TV animation series with fascinating characters, a captivating sci-fi premise, dynamic battle scenes, and a super-high density of information that incorporates Judeo-Christian concepts and psychoanalysis as only a few of the elements that allowed Neon Genesis Evangelion to surpass the realm of all anime that had come before it and made a work worthy of the title "New Century (Neon Genesis)." The show began airing in October 1995 with the planning, original story and production handled by GAINAX, who had previously worked on such shows as Wings of Honneamise and Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water. Hideaki Anno, a representative creator of GAINAX, was at the heart of the production work and his individuality colors every aspect of the show. A manga version by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto began running one month prior to the series premiere and new chapters are still being produced.

Neon Genesis Evangelion had the ardent support of fans, and its popularity boomed even after it finished its first run in March of 1996. Its influence was not limited to anime fans but also spread to the general populace, and it was even called the third impact, following Space Battleship Yamato and Mobile Suit Gundam. At the height of the Eva boom in 1998, the theatrical Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion were released. The theatrical releases were created as a separate version of the climax depicted in the TV series. Four movies retelling the story of Evangelion (without GAINAX) are to follow in the coming years.

The world is slowly dying... In a post-apocalyptic future where humans live in large domed cities surrounded by wasteland, wolves are believed to have been extinct for 200 years. But some wolves still remain. These wolves live by disguising themselves as humans to survive. Wolf's Rain is the story of four wolves, Kiba, Tsume, Hige and Toboe, who will follow the scent of the lunar flower on a quest to find paradise. Opening Theme: "Stray" performed by Steve Conte Ending Theme: "Gravity" performed by Maaya Sakamoto "Stray" Lyrics In the cold breeze, That I walk alone, The memories of generation burn within me. Been forever Since I cried the pain of sorrow, I'll live and die, by the pride my people gave me. I'm here standing on the edge, Staring up at where the moon should be. Oooooooooh! Stray! No regrets cause I've got nothing to lose. (Nothing to lose!) Ever stray! So I'm gonna live my life as I choose. (Life as I choose!) Until I fall. Stray! Straaaaaaaaaaaay! "Gravity" Lyrics Been a long road to follow, Been there and gone tomorrow, Without saying goodbye to yesterday. Are the memories I hold still valid? Or have the tears deluded me? Maybe this time tomorrow, The rain will cease to follow, And the mist will fade into a new today. Something somewhere out there keeps calling, Am I going home? Will I hear someone singing solace to the silent moon? Zero gravity what's it like? Am I alone? Is somebody there beyond these heavy aching feet, Still the roads keeps on telling me to go on. Something is pulling me, I feel the gravity of it all. Characters Kiba (Fang): Kiba is the white wolf. He is tough and stubborn. Even though the group has no real leader, he seems to be the one leading them. He will face any danger to get to paradise. Kiba believes in Cheza the most. Tsume (Claw): Tsume, who originally lived among the humans, is cold and independent. He doesn't really believe in paradise but goes along anyway. Tsume's identifying feature is a cross shaped scar on his chest. Hige (Whisker): Hige is rational and doesn't like to rush into things. He always seems to be looking for food or women. Hige's identifying feature is his collar around his neck. Toboe (Howling): Toboe is the youngest of the four. He is kind and loyal. The others in the group call him runt because sometimes he slows the group down. Toboe's identifying feature is a bracelet on his right hand. Cheza (The Flower Maiden): We first meet Cheza in a research lab. She is suspended inside a glass sphere. She can hear the wolves and calls out to them. Cheza will lead the wolves to paradise. Blue: Blue was Quent Yaiden's dog. As Quent's dog she could sense wolves and helped him hunt them down. But one day she met Cheza and realized she was part wolf. After that she could take human form. Quent Yaiden: Quent believes his village was burned down by wolves. For revenge he plans to hunt down all wolves and kill them. Cher Degri: Cher is one of the scientists first seen studying Cheza. Her obsession with Cheza and the "Book of the Moon" strained her marriage to Hubb. Hubb Lebowski: Hubb is a police investigator. He is Cher's ex-husband. He is still in love with Cher and follows her after she disappears. Darcia: Darcia is a noble. He wants Cheza for himself. At first his motives are unknown. Roger Smith is Paradigm City's top negotiator; he is called upon in times of conflict to try to negotiate through an ordeal. However, Paradigm City isn't like most normal cities. Forty years ago, an event occurred that caused all living individuals to completely lose their memories. People continued to struggle with their existence, despite this fact, though the search for memories still drives mankind to the brink of insanity. That event also caused a few people to gain some special abilities, such as the right to be a Dominus of a MegaDeus. Roger is capable of calling upon the power of Big O, his own MegaDeus, which he decides to use to defend the city from other MegaDeuses. He continues to live by his ideal, that "people are not ruled by their memories!" This is the guide to the Adult Swim version and the dub. For the WOWOW and original Japanese version, go here. Note: Both guides are the same in terms of episodes and summaries (although what is actually currently submitted is different), just the airdates and cast differ. Airdates: The Big O began airing on Japanese television on October 13, 1999. It lasted through January 13, 2000 running 13 episodes. It was canceled, due to only average ratings. On April 2, 2001 it was dubbed and aired on Cartoon Network's Toonami Block. It ran all 13 episodes, but was edited. Due to the fact that the demographic watching the series was older than the one Toonami hoped to aim for, it was taken off Toonami and aired on Adult Swim. On AS, it was a huge success. On August 3, 2003, a second season was co-produced by Cartoon Network and debuted on Adult Swim. This second season, sometimes called The Big O II or simply Big O II, continues the storyline beginning with the last part of the first season's last episode. However, there are some obvious differences in the and narrative. The Adult Swim airing lasted until November 2, 2003. The Japanese airing of Season 2 lasted from January 2, 2003 to March 27, 2003. The producers wanted a third Season, but one was never created. Season 3? Due to a large amount of mysteries left unsolved by the finale of the second season, the production crew wanted to create a third season to tie up the loose ends and finish the series, as per an option on the contract between Cartoon Network and Sunrise. However, the network determined that the show lacked the marketability and numbers to continue airing new episodes on Adult Swim. There is a great deal of controversy over this decision, however nothing is known for sure. For example, the show's ratings were not nearly as bad as Adult Swim had stated. They weren't high, but they weren't low. The reason why Adul Swim said they were bad nd if this fact is 100% true is still unknown for sure. A petition is still available here. The creators behind it are still seeking a certain number of signatures required by Time Warner for consideration of a third season.moreless
