3 lbs is a medical drama TV series developed by CBS that follows the differing professional styles of two notable neurosurgeons in New York City as they're forced to work together in tandem on the more difficult brain operations. Dr. Douglas Hanson (Stanley Tucci) is a brilliant but sharp-tongued surgeon who believes that the person is merely the useless package covering the more important three-pound brain while his equally skilled and compassionate protégé, Dr. Jonathan Seger (Mark Feuerstein), believes that in order to work on the brain, he has to at least understand the personality of his patient. Dr. Hanson and Seger's new team consisting of the manipulative Dr. Adrianne Holland (Indira Varma) and the sympathetic Dr. Tom Flores (Armando Riesco) clash over how to treat their patients as aneurysms, tumors, and other neurological disorders highlight just how precious and fragile the mind truly is.moreless

The Alfred Hitchcock Hour was a mystery and suspense anthology hosted by the master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. Each 60 minute episode included opening and closing vignettes featuring Hitchcock, who would often explain some aspect of the day's show and would often offer subtle (or not so subtle) jabs at the show's sponsors. The series premiered on CBS on Thursday, September 20, 1962, in the 10:00-11:00 PM time-slot opposite ABC's Alcoa Premiere and NBC's The Andy Williams Show. In its third season, the show moved to NBC and was shown on Monday 10:00 to 11:00 PM. On NBC it was broadcast opposite ABC's Ben Casey and CBS's Slattery's People. The Alfred Hitchcock Hour featured both original works produced directly for television and adaptations of existing source material. Some authors whose work was adapted for the series include: Cornell Woolrich, Ellery Queen, H.G. Wells, Henry Slesar, John Wyndham, William Link, Ray Bradbury, and Robert Bloch. The show also featured work by famous (or soon to be famous) directors Alfred Hitchcock, Sydney Pollack, and William Friedkin.moreless

From award winning producer David E. Kelley ("Ally McBeal", "The Practice" and "Boston Legal") comes Picket Fences, a story of a small town sherrif trying to maintain the town & his family.

Sherrif James Brock (Tom Skerrit) is trying to maintain the small town of Rome, Wisconin. His wife Jill (Kathy Baker) is the doctor of the town, daughter Kimberley (Holly Marie Combs), from a previous marriage of Jimmy, is the level headed student growing up in Rome. Jimmy and Jill have two other children, Matthew (Justin Shenkarow) and Zach (Adam Wylie).

Trying his best to keep the town in order, Judge Henry Bone (Ray Walston) rules the court room and while he doesn't always stick to the law, he does what is best for the town. Making Judge Bone's job harder is lawer Douglas Wambaugh (Fyvush Finkel), a friend of Judge Bone but an enemy in the court room. Wambaugh goes to extreme lengths to win the case, but he is after all a character!

Also around in the town of Rome are D.A John Littelon (Don Cheadle), a straight man for the antics of Wambaugh, the strange Medical Examinor Carter Pike (Kelly Connel) and deputy's Max and Kenny an on & off couple.

The town of Rome never ran smoothly though, with a revolving door of mayors along with cows giving birth to humans and an array of people found dead in freezers.

While the show was adored by critics, it never quite found great ratings on CBS and was cancelled after 4 seasons. Creator David E. Kelley left his post as Executive Producer after season 3, which brought a different style of show during season 4 - returning only to write 2 stand out episodes that year. Some have suggested this is why the show met its demise when Kelley left. Also the show does reach a fitting conclusion but it comes rather rushed as it was believed the show would be coming back for season 5. Picket Fences remains a classic show and now with the first season recently released on DVD you can enjoy it all over again!moreless

A drama inspired by the real-life experiences of former New York Deputy Police Commissioner Jack Maple, The District revolves around Jack Mannion (Craig T. Nelson), a tenacious champion of the underdog and an avowed crime-fighter, whose revolutionary tactics have resulted in a 50-percent drop in crime, first in Boston, then in Newark, N.J. His latest challenge is Washington, D.C., which, despite being home to more law enforcement agencies than any other city on the planet, is riddled with crime and has a local police department that is demoralized and ineffective. Appointed Chief of Police by the mayor, Mannion works closely at Police Headquarters with Deputy Chief Joe Noland (Roger Aaron Brown). In his quest to "make crime a thing of the past," Mannion has recruited Temple Page (Sean Patrick Thomas), a young detective on the force who is Mannion's eyes and ears on the most crime-ridden, drug-infested streets in America. Nancy Parras (Elizabeth Marvel), an intuitive officer, rounds out the chief's inner circle. Kevin Debreno Jonathan LaPaglia, the newest member of Mannion's unit, continues to challenge himself and his partner, Temple, at every turn. Together, Mannion and his team form a modern-day "Untouchables," determined to make the District livable for all its citizens. The District premiered in October 2000 and was the most watched show on Saturday nights until May 2004, often managing to reach the top 20 in its first season. Unfortunately the show has suffered many losses in its short history, including creator Jack Maple and actress Lynne Thigpen. Star Trek: Remastered takes Gene Roddenberry's groundbreaking 1960s science fiction series and gives it a fresh coat of paint for a new generation. The Original Series gets a full make-over, presented now in high definition with new CGI effects and enhanced audio. This digital re-mastering was released in 2006 to commemorate Star Trek's 40th anniversary. Star Trek didn't always have the loyal following it does now. It's first season received lukewarm ratings, and while it developed a significant fan base, it received little network support and was canceled after three seasons. Nonetheless, the show continued to run in syndication in the 70s and gained popularity. Now, Stark Trek is one of the most-loved sci-fi stories of all time, with many spin-off series and several feature films. Star Trek holds the Guinness World Record for having the largest number of spin-offs among television shows in history. The Original Series has stood the test of time, and this updated version gives it a new, polished finish. Whether you're a long-time fan of this smart sci-fi classic, or a recent convert looking to catch up, Star Trek: Remastered is the best Original Series viewing experience available.moreless
