    CBS (ended 1980)
Barnaby Jones began as a mid-season replacement for CBS beginning on Sunday, January 28, 1973, and continued with a successful run until its final episode aired on Thursday, April 3, 1980. 178 color episodes were filmed in Hollywood. This series focused around a retired private detective, Barnaby Jones, who had passed his private investigation business to his son, Hal. When Hal was murdered while on a case, Barnaby came out of retirement to track down his son's killer. Hal's widow, Betty, worked with Barnaby as his invaluable assistant on cases. In the fall of 1976, Barnaby's cousin Monroe was murdered while in Los Angeles for the purpose of tracking down his partner's killer. This storyline served as the backdrop for the introduction of Monroe's son, law student Jedediah Romano Jones, who preferred to be called J.R. After the case was solved, J.R. remained in Los Angeles working for Barnaby while he studied law until the end of the series. Out of all of Quinn Martin's series, this one had the second-longest run. Only The F.B.I. had a longer run. Here is a list of time slots that Barnaby Jones held during its 7 1/2 year run: January 1973 to June 1974: Sundays from 9:30 P.M. to 10:30 P.M. July to September 1974: Saturdays from 10:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. September 1974 to August 1975: Tuesdays from 10:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. September to November 1975: Fridays from 10:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. December 1975 to November 1979: Thursdays from 10:00 P.M. to 11:00 P.M. December 1979 to September 1980: Thursdays from 9:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.moreless

Sammo Law is a Chinese law officer and a martial arts expert transferred to America looking for an old nemesis. During the search, Sammo will join the police department and work with a group of detectives on police cases.

The show ran for two years on CBS, and it endured cast revamps, which were probably the main reason why the show ended only after two years.

After only 5 episodes, Tammy Lauren exited the show, and both Louis Mandylor and Tom Wright exited the show after the first season. During the first season, a new character was introduced (played by Arsenio Hall) and was soon made a regular.

People loved the show, because it was a good combination of action, martial arts and comedy, but not enough to keep it going.moreless

    CBS (ended 1990)
How does a deep-cover operative keep his sanity and morality intact when the criminal lifestyle he’s sworn to bring down from within is more compelling than his own? Federal Agent Vincent Terranova (Ken Wahl) is plagued by the question in this innovative take on 80’s cop dramas. Created by veteran hit producer Steven J Cannell, Wiseguy veers from traditional ‘bad guy of the week’ police procedural by breaking the drama into multi-episode story arcs that followed an Organized Crimes Bureau case—and its charismatic criminal suspects—to its logical conclusion. No matter the cost to criminal, victim, or cop. In the end, Vinnie may have got his man, but the emotional toll of the lies and deceptions he used to get close enough to his prey couldn’t be ignored. But he’s ably backed by his Field Supervisor Frank McPike (Jonathan Banks) and his OCB Lifeguard (Jim Byrnes) on the law-and-order side and his brother Father Pete Terranova (Gerald Anthony) on the spiritual side. Plus many up-and-coming stars (Ray Sharkey, Annette Benning, Billy Vera, Kevin Spacey, Fred Dalton Thompson, Ron Silver, Michael Chiklis) cut their teeth on juicy roles as either flashy but flawed criminals or tragic victims of the same. Personal problems and injuries caused Wahl to back out of a fourth season and be replaced by Steven Bauer, thereby giving the show a new slant and hastening its cancellation. Still, Wiseguy is referenced by many critics and fans as one of the most literate, stylish, audacious, and fun cop shows of the late 80’s. Selected story arcs are currently available on DVD.moreless

This unsuccessful and now totally forgotten "family hour" drama was MTM's first 60-minute series. It focused on the assignments of photojournalist Pete Karras, who somewhat improbably moved around the U.S. in a custom-built motorhome complete with his two sons. (You'd think he's be beaten out by competitors who could fly to assignments without their families.) The premise was, of course, just an excuse for a disguised anthology drama like The Fugitive or Route 66, in which the main characters would enter a new town and a new dramatic situation each week.moreless

Star Trek: Remastered takes Gene Roddenberry's groundbreaking 1960s science fiction series and gives it a fresh coat of paint for a new generation. The Original Series gets a full make-over, presented now in high definition with new CGI effects and enhanced audio. This digital re-mastering was released in 2006 to commemorate Star Trek's 40th anniversary. Star Trek didn't always have the loyal following it does now. It's first season received lukewarm ratings, and while it developed a significant fan base, it received little network support and was canceled after three seasons. Nonetheless, the show continued to run in syndication in the 70s and gained popularity. Now, Stark Trek is one of the most-loved sci-fi stories of all time, with many spin-off series and several feature films. Star Trek holds the Guinness World Record for having the largest number of spin-offs among television shows in history. The Original Series has stood the test of time, and this updated version gives it a new, polished finish. Whether you're a long-time fan of this smart sci-fi classic, or a recent convert looking to catch up, Star Trek: Remastered is the best Original Series viewing experience available.moreless
