STAR SEARCH, the one-hour talent series hosted by Arsenio Hall and was inspired by the original "Star Search" television program (1983-1995), which was hosted by Ed McMahon, and helped launch the careers of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, N*Sync, Destiny's Child, Ray Romano, Sinbad, and Martin Lawrence. This series featured live tournament-style competitions in four categories - adult singer, junior singer, comedians, models/young dancers - culminating in the grand prize winning STAR in each category. A panel of celebrity judges will determine the winners. The suspense will build each week as the head-to-head competition in each category renders a winner who will advance to the next round. There are six qualifying episodes. Winners from each of these episodes will then advance to the semi finals. The grand finale episode on Thursday, February 6 at 8PM ET/PT will crown the STAR SEARCH winner in each category! To clarify, episodes one, two, three, five, six and seven will be "first round" matchups for seasons one through three. Winners of episodes one, two and three will advance to episode four, the first semi-final. Winners of episodes five, six and seven will advance to episode eight, the second semi-final. Episode nine will be the grand finale in which two semi-final winners from each category will compete for the $100,000 grand prize. The fourth season of this series, was different because there was no guest judges and the three judges that were there did not tell how many stars each contestant got. There was also a twist instated during the fourth season of the series that some episodes were called "Winner's Circle Showdown." In these episodes, the people in the Winner's Circle challenged one another to have immunity until the final episode of the fourth season. CBS' Pirate Master sends 16 modern-day pirates on a high seas adventure to live as buccaneers and travel around the Caribbean island of Dominica searching for hidden treasure of $1 million. Over the course of 33 days, these pirates will live aboard a massive 179 foot, square-rigged barque and will embark on extraordinary expeditions while deciphering clues along the way. Gold coins (real money which the pirates get to keep) will be given out after each expedition, but not to everyone. This gold plays a key role as pirates make deals with each other or maneuver for long-term security. One pirate will also be made captain of the ship and will assign roles and chores to the remaining crew members. This sets the tone for either law and order, or betrayal and sabotage - against which the crew can choose to mutiny. Each episode finishes on the ship at Pirate's Court, a lively gathering not unlike Survivor's, in which one individual is eliminated and "cut adrift." One pirate will eventually be the first to find the greatest booty, worth $500,000, and claim the title of "Pirate Master."moreless

Returning host Julie Chen once again opened the door to the Big Brother house, but this time the contestants were notable personalities and fan favorites from previous seasons. The fourteen contestants were chosen by both the producers and by an Internet fan vote. The Big Brother house theme was “A House of Extremes” which was illustrated in the neon flames, gargoyles, and even tarantula cage that could be found throughout the house. Also included in the décor were notable items from previous seasons, which hung on the wall. Season 7 of Big Brother introduced the Emmy Award-winning feature “Big Brother Goes Mobile,” which gave viewers an all-access pass to the houseguests and show extras for a small fee. The show’s internet review show “House Calls” returned for another season of interviews. Big Brother: All-Stars aired in 2006.moreless
