"A compelling drama, Robbery Homicide Division draws viewers into the lives of the elite Robbery and Homicide Division of the present-day Los Angeles Police Department. The detectives in this select unit work only high-profile crime wherever it occurs in Los Angeles." "Detective Sam Cole (Sizemore, Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down) heads the Robbery and Homicide Division's team of highly skilled detectives. Sometimes outrageous, always strategic, Cole has both a hunter's raw instinct and the intellect and wit to pursue L.A.'s most vicious and complex crimes. He has mastered the art of viewing crime through the eyes of the criminal." "Cole's team consists of Sergeant Alfred Simms, (Henley, Providence, ER) nicknamed "Dr. Death," he is best known for his droll sense of humor and high level of skill with a shotgun; Detective Sonia Robbins, (Scott, Millennium, Brooklyn South) a Spanish-speaking detective who specializes in pathology and Detectives Richard Barstow (Cubitt, Turks, American Embassy) and Ron Lu (Chan, Spy Game, Batman and Robin) who come from L.A.'s Hispanic and Asian Gang Units. Together, Cole's unit will confront the city's highest-profile crimes and criminals in the most exciting urban landscape in America." (Universal press release) A big critical, if not commercial, hit, Robbery Homicide Division marked Michael Mann's return to series television after more than 10 years on the big screen. Maybe he would have been better off returning to NBC. Although Friday at 10:00pm was where Miami Vice had aired, it didn't have to contend with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Never once did RHD air against a rerun of SVU, and no doubt both shows had too much audience overlap for RHD to ever find one. Which very well might have been the intention, since CBS didn't own a piece of the action. Ratings improved dramatically when it was moved to Saturday in The Agency's time slot for a two-week experiment, and, in fact, on December 7, 2002, it topped lead-in The District and won its time slot for the first time -- while The Agency (a show CBS did own a piece of) tanked on Fridays when it aired in RHD's slot. Just when things were starting to look up, Tom Sizemore got arrested on December 11th. And Les Moonves cancelled the series the next day. RHD was repurposed on the Universal-owned USA Network; the unaired episodes were eventually broadcast there. Welcome to the Some of My Best Friends guide at TV.com. Danny Nucci and Jason Bateman star in SOME OF MY BEST FRIENDS, a half-hour comedy based on the critically acclaimed motion picture "Kiss Me, Guido." The two form a distinctly contemporary odd couple -- one gay, one straight, living in the same Greenwich Village apartment. Warren Fairbanks (Bateman), a writer just dumped by his boyfriend, decides, with the help of his flamboyant best friend, Vern (Alec Mapa), to put an ad in the paper, "GWM seeks roommate." Frankie Zito (Nucci), a macho guy from the Bronx who, against the wishes of his parents, Joe (Joe Grifasi) and Connie (Camille Saviola), wants to move out of their house, responds to Warren's ad. Along with his dim-witted best friend, Pino (Michael DeLuise), Frankie assumes GWM means "Guy with Money." Frankie moves in, and worlds collide. But with a few ground rules and some help from Warren's sister Meryl (Jessica Lundy), the twice-divorced building manager, it seems the two have the potential to become friends as well as roommates.moreless

    Archie's Fun House

    CBS (ended 1973)
Archie's Funhouse was a Saturday morning cartoon show that aired on CBS from 1970 to 1971 and from 1972 to 1973. The show was the sequel to the previous season's one-hour Archie Saturday morning series "The Archie Comedy Hour" (which was one of the biggest hits for the 1969-1970 Saturday morning season). "Archie's Funhouse", of course, featured Archie and his pals (Jughead, Reggie, Veronica, Betty, Hot Dog and others) as on-stage hosts of skits, jokes, and music. The program also had live-action kids as the audience for the show, responding to the antics of the Archie gang. Actually, the concept from the show came from 2 segments that were first shown on the previous season's "The Archie Comedy Hour". They were the "Funhouse" and "Side Show" segments. On "Archie's Funhouse", these segments featured puns, jokes, and skits. For these segments, Filmation Studios hired writers from the hit NBC primetime show "Rowan And Martin's Laugh-In" (the show that inspired these segments) to write for these segments. In addition, the show also featured "The Giant Jukebox", playing hit songs from The Archies. There were 3 song segments per show with on-stage performances by The Archies. Hit songs included "Sunshine", "Love Vibrations", and "Comes The Sun". "Archie's Funhouse" started off as a one-hour show on Saturday mornings from 1970 to 1971, then it was trimmed to a half-hour shown on Sunday mornings from 1972 to 1973.moreless
